No atomic bomb anniversary release, instead how about doing it today? No objections... ok then.
Let me see… two things to accomplish with this post, make some announcements pertaining to the series (initiate wall of text) and give the links for the first episode. Well, I know everyone wants to hear the announcements first, so let me start there.
First, for those old enough to be familiar with the VH1 series "Pop-up Video" there exists the very real possibility that some time in the future I will make a "Pop-up Video" version of the first episode to explore some of the more subtle things that some might miss and provide some possibly interesting food for thought.
Second, one of the current projects that I am working on is a new opening theme for the fan series that will introduce each episode. I believe I have a solid idea, but the overall work load in creating it will definitely take time. So will it be ready by the time the second episode is released? Probably not, unfortunately, but only time will tell.
Third, … wait a minute what is that you say, there is going to be a second episode? Of course there will be more episodes, you did not think that the series was going to end with one did you? Right now the animation for the second episode is about 75% done and the overall episode is approximately half done. The good news is that the two most critical props have been completed along with the most difficult sequence of animation. The bad news is that currently the idea calls for a lot of so far unfinished smaller unique props which are going to be time-consuming to make. There is a possibility that episode two will be released at the end of August, but of course do not hold me to that.
Fourth, the scope of the episodes currently outlined will introduce some new characters as well as reintroduce some older ones so the series can maintain a significant level of familiarity as well as nurture its evolution. Right now the completion of episode two is important because it will generate some important props that will make future episodes easier to create.
Fifth, although I could if I really wanted to, I do not need to be responsible for all of the episodes myself. In the future, if someone has a really good idea for a short episode that he/she would like to see animated sometime in the future you can simply PM a detailed (note the emphasis) outline of the episode with set and blocking (how the characters move) descriptions as well as characters and dialogue and I will determine what can be done and what would be unadvisable due to the existing technology. Also if you send something please take it seriously in that you do not need to have all of the Is dotted and Ts crossed, but you have enough so that you could easily make some storyboards out of it.
However understand that I have other things both within the series and outside of the series that I need to attend to, so do not expect a lightning quick turnaround from idea to actual episode, but if the idea is viable and of quality there is a good chance it will get done.
Sixth, for the purpose of clarity and simplification, the series and this thread title will commonly be referred to by the acronym KPFAS (Kim Possible Fan Animated Series) to ensure that there is enough character space on the thread title to better specify the content of certain updates. Also all of the eventual links to each episode can be found on the first post on the first page of the thread.
Ok, now that all of the announcements are out of the way, I guess I can post the links for the episode… but not before some commentary regarding the episode itself. Overall the original intention of the episode was to provide some support for the "Fight for Five" so there will be a bit of theme tie-in between that and the episode itself. However, that does not mean the episode could not stand on its own it need be.
The episode is 15 minutes and 30 seconds long. Due to youtube's and my own space requirements it is split into two different parts with Scenes 1-4 encompassing the first part and Scenes 5-7 encompassing the second part. There are seventeen different characters that make an appearance at one time or another in the episode (at least that are related to KP or have some importance in the plot) with twelve having at least one speaking line.
There are actually two separate plotlines. One is blatantly obvious (it is revealed in the first 7 seconds), but the second plot is rather subtle and will be explained either in the pop-up version or in a later episode. Realistically it is almost impossible to determine the second plot without taking a wild guess, for there is just not enough information provided. Although take what you know about one particular character and his/her obsession and you might be able to piece it together.
Feel free to praise or constructively (note the emphasis) criticize (taking into consideration the technological limitations) anything regarding the episode, with the exception of the voice acting. Regardless of what you might think about any other aspect of the episode, overall those individuals, not named Sombershadow, who volunteered to voice a character did a fantastic job in my opinion and should not be criticized for doing their best and putting themselves out there. Heck, these individuals should be praised for volunteering and their excellent work, not criticized.
Also please understand and appreciate the sheer level of work that went into this project as almost all of the sets were designed from scratch as well as the overall level of editing and animation work that was done. Honestly I cannot even compute the total workload, it has just devolved into a jumble of numbers.
If you like the episode, that is great and I am glad you enjoyed it. If you did not like it, look on the bright side it can only get better from here since this is episode 1.
With all of that said, time to get to the part most people who are reading this thread care about, the links.
