Dear members, I just wanted to tell everyone reading this that our beloved pet frog, not a dog or a cat, but our pet frog Herman has finally croaked. Yes, he had finally come to his official end. It is after 2:31 AM now (Now 2:57AM), and I couldn't sleep anyway. But my sister woke me up and told me that our pet had died. I found it hard to believe at first but I immediately accepted it. We're all very upset about this, but this was going to happen eventually. That's what happens when you have a pet. But we kept him alive for as long as we could. I hope he died because he was old, not because of my neglect for feeding him in about two days. I know I feared this day coming, our frog Herman looking like he was about to die but didn't, or looking like he was about to get himself killed but didn't (and when he did, I would take it upon myself to rescue him even though he knew what he was doing), and I've had dreams of him dying because of me. Now it's not a dream anymore. But I just thought I'd let you all know this. And even though this happens to be April 1st, this is NOT an April Fool's joke, and I don't celebrate it anyway, this really did happen. I know he wasn't human and was just a puny little amphibian, but he was still a Living Thing. And he was a cute little one too and the best frog we've ever known, or at least I have ever known. Herman the Frog, December 2001-April 2008. He was probably born before December since he was store-bought. But he's no longer with us and unfortunately out of our future anymore. He's now just a memory. I said we should get another frog if he died but I'm not totally sure about that anymore. BTW, this message also exists on the Nickdisk Message Board.

Croak.
Edit: Okay... I don't like jokes. So if this is serious... my condolences. I'm not a frog/toad person, but my pet died a year ago, so I know how it feels.

No Krist, no April Fools. I don't even participate in April Fools. This is 100% Serious. Otherwise, this thread would not have been made at all.. I hope I didn't sound too fresh with you, I was just explaining that this was very serious. I'm upgrading the title. if i can.

Krist you don't have to act like that. He's serious and it'd be awfully mean to say this is an April Fools joke.
My condolences to your frog.

What kind of froggy was Herman?
I have a pair of aquatic frogs in my fish tank along with 6 glass fish. The frogs are about 6 years old or so.
The glass fish are about 5 years old.
I don't know how old the frogs are supposed to get before they croak, but mine seem to be happy and healthy. They thrive on what I feed them, small cubes of frozen bloodworms and teeny-tiny small hunks of good hamburger. They LOVE the 'burger, and will actually have a froggy stand-off fight to see who gets it!
I don't think Herman died because you didn't feed him for 2 days, so don't feel bad, OK? I feed my guys every 2 days, and have done that since I've had them in one of my tanks.

I want to thank the rest of you all for your respects and condolences towards me.
As for you Krist, how should I say this kindly but firmly? I understand that you think some things may be jokes even when people try to say they're not, especially when they happen to really be April Fools jokes and/or on April Fools day, and a lot of what other people said were April Fool's jokes, and I'm sorry to say this, but I agree with Baby Blue, you weren't very nice to me when I said our pet frog died and that it really upset us. And he happened to die on April Fools day so I guess I can understand, but he still died and it still hurt us.
How would you like it if you lost a loved one or a friend, or even a pet that you were so close to in death and people disrespected you or didn't take you seriously and or made fun of you? Think about that.
I'm a nice person and all and I don't like talking this way to anybody, but what you said to me was rude. I couldn't stop him from dying when he did.
As for the rest of you, thanks for taking me seriously and not making fun of me, and for listening to me when I said it was not an April Fools joke. And thanks again for all your respects. I really appreciate this. Thank you.
In an answer to your question Ranchero Dave, Herman was a very small frog. He was probably less than a half inch big. Maybe a few centimeters or so. But he was as small as a crumb. And he was even smaller when we first got him.
There were some times I forgot to feed him but after my sister asked me when was the last time I fed him, that's when it hit me. I couldn't really remember when I did prior to his death but I guessed 2 days, it could have been more. But I was told he was old.
I did say we should get another frog, or perhaps more frogs so that one frog isn't alone, but after the grief that was displayed, I'm not totally sure. Because the biggest consequence of having a pet is its eventual death. I may snap out of this after a while but until then, I don't feel like we should have any more pets right now.
Once again, thank you people for your prayers, respects, and condolences. I'll do the same for you all if you lose your loved ones, friends, or pets in death.

I lost six fish during the transition from childhood to mature fish. After that four of my male guppies died of old age.

If something is to die, better it reached old age than anything else.
But I'm really sorry to hear that GT.

Grieving Statement: I will attempt to give my condolences to your pet amphibian. It is sad to hear that such a loved one passed away in grief, not all tears are uneven, as one said.
Paranoid Commentary: I truly do not know how I would react if I lost my pet Myna Bird, Sparky. I take it quite shockingly that you were able to take the truth...if my pet would've died, I would've gone at an instant shut down.

Thanks Tenkan. I hope your pet Sparky can keep on living. If your bird dies and I'm not there to hear about it, my condolences in advance.

Thank you all very much.
By the way if any of you all lost pets yourselves, my condolences to you even if it was years ago.

Are you planning on making a special funeral for the beloved amphibian?
