Brits are still worse.

We had the biggest recorded empire in history for one thing, and you're a descendant of said empire for another. So, how are we worse?

That's just it! You tried to conquer the world. You're worse than Alexander the Great or Attila the Hun.

We tried to unite the world. There's a difference. Heck, without us, you'd be in an uncivilized part of the globe. Internet, fast food, computerized devices... none of that for you.

That makes no sense. Japan is isolated, got nuked twice, and STILL they're 20 years ahead of the world.

We traded with them, Sally. We're one of the causes of that. We also helped the Manhattan Project. Heck, take it back far enough, and we're one of the reasons the Roman Empire, which brought major advances to the world, survived!

How can you have caused it if they're way ahead of you? YUMMY WONDERBREAD.

Because we traded with them! Technology for supplies!

So you had the technology to become what Japan is today, but weren't smart enough to utilize it. Then, you required supplies from a small, isolated concrete jungle that was just hit with two nukes. How's that, am I in the ballpark?

No, Sally. Centuries ago, we traded technology with a reasonably advanced but still lacking honour-based society. We traded with them for a while, helped them technologically, and they advanced themselves. Fast forward a few centuries. Colonial wars and European wars affected our research budgets and growth, whereas they had no such concerns.

They warred with China a fair bit.

We had a huge empire to micromanage and a lot of wars with other huge empires.

Those other empires.

It was. If they hadn't been there, we wouldn't've had to fight them.
