Thanks, Carbon, I think you've pretty much put my feelings of the design of the car in perfect context.
What the designer of Kimmie's 2.0 is obviously trying to convey is the current cutting edge of auto design, without committing the act of actually portraying a Lexus or, what I 'feel in my gut' a bit of the design that smacks of current and future Audi design.
We have to realize that, while basic automotive design is based in facts and mathematical formulae, the animated world has no such limitations. *Shot into high Earth orbit???*
It's just a generalization of current design, with an attempt at NOT looking too much like a current production vehicle. If there WAS, Disney would have to pay a manufacturer royalties for the use of their product.
I wonder who designed the Roth SL 2.0? NO, not the Tweebs... I meant the artist. Makes me wonder if he or she drives a TT, or at least a nice classic car, like a '63 Plymouth Valiant convertible in showroom shape.
We should dig and find out, Carbon.

As a 'car guy' the resemblence is uncanny as I've said (I completely forgot about the lexus concept car until this thread) but they are very similar in styling.
If you take the actual image of the Lexus and squish the width a bit (without touching the height) it will be almost Identical to Kim's Roth SL 2.0.
Of course due to liscensing agreements and such the car can't look too much like the Lexus without the chance of them getting sued, so the front splitter was added and the car was given a more VW Beetle style greenhouse and shape, just enough to distinguish that the Roth is not just a cartooned lexus in Purple.

Okay, class, who can tell me at least three different meanings for the verb "riding".

Is anybody else reminded of the Lexus Concept car from Minority Report? Actually, Kim's car and the "Minority Report" car both remind me of the light cycles in the Disney movie Tron. The Pink Sloth is a bit wider, but the shape of it is similar. It's not purple. It's a dark pink/magenta. It's PINK ;D That way, Kim's 'riding a pink sloth' Okay, I'm bad. Okay, class, who can tell me at least three different meanings for the verb "riding". *successfully resists the urge to post something completely inappropriate* Y'all are crazy.

*checks his Tron Light Cycle toy (vintage)* Yep, that's what it was reminding me of.

Let's not go into the whole 'what color is the car' debate again that has occured in the episode review thread. Officially, it's not called 'The Pink Sloth', it's a Sloth as Ron said. "A Sloth? I heard of one of these."
As for the color, let's not get technical. From first looks, it's purple. Simple as that. For all the artists out there, yeah, one can get picky on the color, but take the image and show it to anyone (who is not an artist and KP fan) and ask for the color, I bet most would say it's purple given that's the color that comes first on their minds.

We should dig and find out, Carbon. Agreed, I don't know how we'd get in contact with the Prop designers, I think I remember reading their names once, maybe we could at least ask our VIPs about it. I do see a bit of current Audi design in some of the shapes on the show. Although the TT coupe is one of those cars that kind of does that, it's a very unique shape, and yet you can see bits of it in lots of other cars out there. It's also a very round coupe, perfect for cartoonish background cars. I really don't think it was ever, how would you put it, referenced? as a particular model but I see the TT shape a lot. The Driver's ed car reminds me quite a bit of the Audi Nuvolari coupe concept, which is now seen more in the Audi A5. The rear end of it probably says more GM EV1 to me though. What do we all think of the Roth before it became 2.0? any thoughts? To me it seems like mostly a generic old American 2-door sedan, but if anything, the shape mostly says " '54 Ford/Mercury 2 door sedan" to me:

Gad, I MUST be getting old. I can't seem to find the reference to the old Henry J I wanted to show ya, Carbon. Let me dig around and see if I can find those pics I had. Hang on a sec or two... I'm sure you'll appreciate these pics. Ah, still have 'em in photobucket. These are pics of a 1951 Kaiser 'Henry J', named for the Owner of the car manufacturer, Henry Kaiser, of Kaiser Steel Corporation. They were only made for 3 years, 1951-1953. There WAS a 1954 model, but they were just re-badged 1953 models that were left over. The similarity of these cars were pretty striking to me, and there are quite a few old Henry's running around the Burbank, Ca. area even though they are now as rare as 'hens' teeth. I love the look of the rear deck... And another shot of the Roth... Is this my imagination, or are these cars pretty much the same color? HMMM. RD
