So I've been hanging around the forums and the chatroom for a couple of days and figured it was about time I posted something, and here I am. Hineni or somesuch. Okay, so that's a bit strong (win for anyone who gets that off the top of their head, I actually had to look up the exact word).
Um... well... I guess I should talk about myself on the off-chance that anyone is interested in me. At least I'm an expert on the subject...
Anyway, I guess my experience with KP has been a bit all over the place. I watched it more when it was newer, then I stopped for years because I guess the things that bug me about it now bugged me more at the time and I didn't appreciate the humor quite so much (ie was taking myself too seriously), or something... And then I caught So the Drama while doing math homework during the big Every Possible Episode Ever deal, and was shocked to realize that, in my not paying attention, the series had ended, been revived, and was now ending -again-. So in the end, I caught Graduation and most of the fourth season, and realized I'd forgotten how much fun the show was, leaving me somewhat baffled as to why I'd stopped watching it for so long.
I came by this site looking to size up the Fight for Five effort, to see if it actually seemed like more than a few fanboys desperate to revive a show that was over and done with, and I stayed because I was amazingly impressed by how different the actual case was. This fandom has an intensity to it and a level of devotion that really impresses me... and sometimes scares me. I mean, really, I can't even think the last time I saw a thread that went over 135 pages that was on a remotely serious topic, and just... the level of detail in the whole planning process is -so- far beyond just being another online petition-type deal. Makes me wonder what could have been if Danny Phantom had had this level of support.
This whole issue is also in an interesting position because you guys really -did- pull off getting the show revived once. It's sort of a question of... "If we had to fight for a fourth season, how likely is it that we get a fifth?" versus "Well, if we could get a fourth season, then why not a fifth?" Admittedly Graduation for all that it might have been a lot better with another episode's length thrown in there (I'm willing to sacrifice everything but the ending credits of Grande Size Me) felt pretty final, but I mean, I guess So the Drama may have felt that way as well, I still haven't really seen it fully.
Anyway, on a different note, I'm a bit of a general geek. I'm an anime fan, as might be guessed by my username (though please don't ask me to explain, it's just stuck because I use it so many places, it gets continually more embarrassing to tell the story), some of my favorite series being the old-school Gundam by Tomino, Rurouni Kenshin, and Gankutsuou. I'm also big into the Tsubasa and D.N.Angel mangas, but not the animes so much. Actually I like the Kenshin manga better than the anime too... Well, whatever.
I do some fanfic writing, though almost exclusively for video games (mostly Fire Emblem, little Tales of the Abyss, little Megaman Zero... "little" meaning one of each), but I'm horrible about updating. I've also done a few AMVs, but I have a problem finishing anything, and most of my AMV plans die before coming to fruition. And most of my fanfics get stalled for so long I lose enthusiasm, but I'm working on that.
Other than that, I do write in general. I'm working on a novel (veeery slowly), and since KP sort of reminded me earlier this month that cartoons aside from anime can really be good too, just for completely different reasons, I've been toying with a concept that would -work- as a cartoon. I figure, since it's so hard to make a living as a novelist my day job will be writing for cartoons , so I'm thinking said idea is probably more practice, but it's only useful practice if I act as if I really could make it into a cartoon, unlikely though that may be. Also, I do have a deep enjoyment of writing just silly things (see... all but one of my fanfics), so being some sort of cartoon writer/novelist would let me do that and also get into some more heavy, serious stuff *Shrugs* Worth a shot, right? I mean, there's gotta be -some- demand for writers in the cartoon industry... just look at Camp Lazlo.
So with that, hi everyone (who I haven't already spoken to in the chatroom, anyway). If I go quiet for a while, it's probably just the culture shock from the intensity around here. That or I died. Anyway, look forward to seeing people around.
By the by, did you guys really come up with 700 pages of -just- making up sexual innuendo quotes to go along with screenshots of Kim and Ron (often without the innuendo bit)?
