Behind the Music II: The Wrath of Chaka KhanIn the second half of the 20th Century, scientists began experimenting with human cloning and genetic engineering. They aimed to create a race of super soldiers… and they succeeded. Inevitably, however, because of the inherent superiority built into the super soldiers, they believed they were better than all humans and set out to rule over the world. One of these super soldiers was named Chaka Khan. Cloned from a young girl named Yvette Marie Stevens, Chaka Khan, or just Khan, was considered the strongest, most intelligent, and most dangerous super soldier the scientists created. She broke free from the laboratory she was created in during the early seventies and began her attempt to rule the world. To rule the world through song! Forming a super group of super soldiers she began her career effortlessly, ruling the airwaves and peoples’ minds in a short amount of time, with an awesome funk sound and her impressive vocal stylings. As ambitious as she was, though, Khan soon broke ties with her bandmates to go solo. After all, there can only be one true ruler of the world. Going solo, however, didn’t turn out quite as well for Khan as she would have hoped. Even though her 1984 album release, I Feel For You, was met with immense commercial and critical success (and even a Grammy), her following albums would prove not to be nearly as successful, and her plans to rule the world seemed all but foiled. However, in 1992, Khan made a startling and unexpected return, releasing The Woman I Am. This album would garner her a new hit single and another Grammy, effectively putting her plans for world domination back on track. However, there was another super soldier who had the same plan as Khan. And she made her play for the world in 1992 as well, with the release of Diva. Her name was Annie Lennox. And thus, the Eurythmics Wars began… "KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!" BONUS FUN FACT: The name of Chaka Khan's successful funk band was Rufus. (Ashley: Didn't I already rant something about requests...?)

Special Delivery: Pizza Mmmm… how can you resist pizza? A delicious tomato paste, covered in gooey, dripping cheese and your choice of scrumptious toppings. And you can choose where you want to put all that stuff, too. You can place it on a crunchy, wafer thin crust. You can get yourself some nice deep dish crust and really build up those carbs. Or you can get all fancy and stuff everything inside the bread, and let it ooze out over your lips with every bite. Really amazing, when you think about it. And it is the one food I know of that you can pile all the basic food groups onto. You get your dairy and your grains. Slap some broccoli and pineapples on top to take care of your fruits and vegetables. Add in pepperoni and anchovies for the protein side of things. And then deep fry the entire sucker in a giant vat of lard, to take care of all the fats, salts and oils you need for a week. Mmm, mmm. That’s good! And good for ya.

Was it the cafeteria pizza in elementary school that killed your taste buds?

I just don't like pizza. Prolly because of the cafeteria pizza in elementary/middle school.
I mean, my high school used Pizza Hut's recipe, but I never ate the pizza more than like... 5 times.
I just don't care to eat pizza that much.

Severe T-Storm Warning Yeah, so, the weather is insanely… insane right now. Monsoon level rains, lightning strikes everywhere. And it was hailing for awhile, too. The weather is always crazy around here, but this is the scariest it has been in a long time. There were even a couple tornado warnings a little north of here. Worst part, of course, is the threat of power failure. Can’t watch TV. Can’t play video games. And, of course, can’t get online. How exactly am I supposed to run an army without any power? It can’t be done, I tells ya! And if I can’t watch Kim Possible, or post about Kim Possible, then I’m going to go mad… well, madder. To the maddest! So, yeah, really crazy weather. Who got their hands on a weather machine? Drakken? Dementor? I’m looking at you guys… (I think Ashley just likes disagreeing with me... or she's mad I haven't talked about Dell computers yet...

Really stunk, so yeah. I feel for ya.

The New Fall Lineup
Alright, y’all. Since every good show on television will premiere by the end of the week (minus 24), it is time to tell everybody what they should be watching.
Aside from Kim Possible, of course…
Sunday
The Simpsons, American Dad, Family Guy on FOX: Like I need to explain these ones. The longest running show on television mixed with two of the funniest. How can you not watch?
[Adult Swim] on CARTOON NETWORK: After all that great stuff on FOX, fly over to the CN. Of course you got Futurama and Family Guy reruns. But you have the rest of their twisted lineup as well. Make particularly sure to watch the Venture Bros. It’s like taking Kim Possible, injecting it with heroin and alcohol, and then kicking it in the nuts.
Monday
Prison Break on FOX: Coming off an outstanding first season, this show has already been running for a few weeks. Started off a little shaky, but it is definitely picking up a lot of steam now. Start watching now, if you haven’t already. Besides, the ladies seem to like that Wentworth Miller…
Heroes on NBC: A surprisingly good genre show on a network not known for genre shows. There is a lot of promise in this series and the characters are all unique and interesting. I know all the folks here will like the teenage cheerleader with super powers.
Studio 60 on NBC: An enjoyable show from Aaron Sorkin, the man who brought us the West Wing. Never got much into the West Wing (even though I think it was a good show), but I can see myself sticking with this show for its run. And Matthew Perry is doing some good work post-Friends.
Tuesday
Friday Night Lights on NBC: Odd choice for me. This just premiered tonight and it was getting some good buzz, so I decided to watch. It was actually pretty good. And I like Kyle Chandler. Good to see him on TV again.
Veronica Mars on CW: One of the best shows on television. And if you can’t find parallels between V-Mars and KP, you need to watch more…
Wednesday
Bones on FOX: Alright… I’ll let you go either way on this one. But, come on, David Boreanaz. Angel, people, Angel! Gotta support the Whedon players.
Ok, the next shows are all on at the same time, so, kind of a tie. I’ll tell you which one I will be watching for sure, but y’all can make your own choice.
House on FOX: I liked the first season of the show. Most of it. What I watched. But I love the character of Dr. House. Such an arrogant ass. But lovable. Hugh Laurie is pretty amazing.
Lost on ABC: Eh… never really got into this show, but I know everybody else thinks it’s huge. I watched the finale of last season and I may tune in for the first couple episodes this season. But… meh. Still, I guess it is a good show. So, if you don’t like my choice, watch this.
Ghost Hunters on SCI FI: Best reality show on television! Engaging, compelling, and sometimes downright chilling. I don’t know that the afterlife exists, but Jason and Grant make a good case. This is where I will be every Wednesday. (Premieres next Wednesday, actually. So, I guess this week, watch the Lost premiere.)
Also:
Mythbusters on DISCOVERY: Love Jamie and Adam! They are on the same time as Jason and Grant, but thankfully they replay their episodes again and again. So, I will also make sure to watch them on Wednesdays… just later that night.
Thursday
My Name is Earl/The Office on NBC: I’m not sure there are funnier shows on television right now (since we lost Arrested Development). Jason Lee immediately followed by Steve Carell. I’m laughing just thinking about it.
Supernatural on CW: Although not as good as the X-Files at its peak, probably better than the X-Files at its worst. First season was able to mix its arching story and “monster of the week” template pretty well. And managed to leave some fairly creepy episodes in its wake. And the sophomore season has started off with a whole lot of interesting. Apparently there is going to be a creepy clown on soon, so make sure you watch. Clowns are freaky!
Friday
Battlestar Galactica on SCI FI: THE. BEST. SHOW. ON. TELEVISION. PERIOD. Yes, folks, I know you’re going to cry, “Blasphemy!” but I dare say, even better than KP. How Ronald D. Moore managed to take a cherished, but admittedly campy sci-fi show from the late 70’s and turn it into the grittiest, most realistic, and most human drama on TV, I don’t know. But I’m sure glad he did. And on its third season, things are all set to get even better. If you watch TV, WATCH THIS SHOW!
Doctor Who on SCI FI: Even though a little campy, this is such an enjoyable program that I highly recommend it. And though I personally miss Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant is doing a fine job.
Saturday
Um… hmm… not really anything I can think of on Saturday. I know Cartoon Network is running Bleach, which I’ve heard is a pretty good anime. Unfortunately I’ve missed it so far. I guess you can watch that if you want. But I suggest taking one night off from TV and like, getting out and exercising, or something. You fat, sluggish couch potato.
And that brings us back to Sunday. So, if you’re not sure what to watch, just scroll back up to the top and repeat ad nauseum.
And that’s it my TV babies. Keep those eyes glued to the tube…

Lyrics: "Glass" by Lakeside PercussionistsStay, I never really wanted the ground Like a feeling- landlocked but still I drown. Never sold a sect amongst the eve Like a widow, alone I cry and breathe
So simple are my reasons- shatter glass to hear the sound And we say we're sorry, but you still won't come around.
Don't let me go Just lay me down.
Soothe- I need your hands to feel the dawn Form misleading, I break what I settle on. I'm a dork, singing what I don't dare to speak Form a riddle, for the pain is far too bleak
So simple are my reasons- shatter glass to hear the sound. And we say we're sorry, but you still won't come around
Don't let me go Just lay me down.
(violin)
So simple are my reasons- shatter glass to hear the sound And we say we're sorry, but you still won't come around. (Ashley: Because that's what I'm watching this season. And I think that's what you should watch, too. )

Shameless Promotion Anyhow, gonna beat a dead horse… or maybe just a really sick horse. ::shrug:: The lyrics I posted yesterday are from a group called Lakeside Percussionists. I really enjoy their music. Very melodic and haunting. Anyhow, you guys should check them out. Listen to all the music they have up on their MySpace page. I’ve linked it in their name up above, for your convenience. Hope you guys enjoy them as much as I do. (Ashley: Gotta put something in there. )

Avenger Shopping Network: Disney Store
Alright, time to get angry at Disney again.
I made the dumb decision of going into the Disney Store today, to see if I could find any Kim Possible merchandise. Of course, I couldn’t. There was nothing there. Zilch. Nada. Not even like a key chain with a naco on it, or something. They just keep making me angrier and angrier…
Where is the Kim Possible love!? Nothing but love over here. So what’s the deal, Disney? I go in there having to stare at Lizzie McGuire’s snarly face and Winnie the Pooh. I mean, the Nightmare Before Christmas merch was cool. But, still, get some KP schwag in your store so I can give you some darn money. I mean, that’s what you need, right? That’s what you crave. All my green…
Do something to earn it, you ignorant [edit]!
(Ashley: Everything I type in parentheses is what I'm telling you, aside from my ranting. If you'd like, I could use a hyphen instead.)
(Ashley - Everything I type in parentheses is what I'm telling you, aside from my ranting. Is this better?)

Okay, you go pour a bowl of Cherrios and then go to get the milk only to find that the milk is out. Do you eat the Cherrios dry or do you abandon all hope?
