I might apply for a job which will have me working 6am - 2pm, but 2pm to 10pm is my current approximate schedule. I just wanted to find out what others thought about the shift they like to work. Tell me why you like your shift.
I might like the 6am shift better because nothing happens in the morning that I might want to do, and if I'm not doing anything anyway - why not?

I think the morning shift is actually better, free afternoons/evenings are a godsend. Then again, you can sleep longer with the afternoon shifts.

I perfer morning and afternoon shifts. All the jobs I've applied for when asked what time I can work I put between 9 am and 3 or 4 pm. I'm a morning person.

If both of you like the morning shift, why is there only one vote for 6-2?

My father works from 6 am til 4-5 pm. I think morning shift is much better. You wake up, breakfast, etc., go to work, after work you have a free afternoon/evening. I think it's definately better than working in the afternoon.

I work random shifts. 8-4, 10-7, 5-930, all sort of shifts. I enjoy it.

Depends on the nature of the work. For heavy manual labor, it's generally cooler in the morning, plus it gets work out of the way so that you can do things with the remainder of the day. Down side: if you like doing things late at night, getting up early can be rough.

I'd prefer the morning shift...I think. Don't know how you think about it but I dislike it to wake up and have too much time to do nothing and too little time to do anything special...nevermind.

Evening shift for me; I rarely start before 1 PM. It allows me time at home without the family around and lets me stay up late enough to talk to all you American peoples.

I am a night owl myself. If I was picking for myself, I'd pick evenings. But if you are a morning person, go for morning. Go for what you feel is best. Of course, if you're desperate for a job, apply for anything.

Of course, if you're desperate for a job, apply for anything. Oh no, I'm not desperate or anything, but the money would be a hell of a lot better. I'd be making $14/hr. as opposed to $10.65/hr. now.

I actually work from 10pm to 6am (third shift)
After working in retail for 23 years, this gives me the benefit of, for once, not having to interact with the public, since my shift occurs totally while the store is closed. I also get a 10% shift differential. I work opposite my wife, so she sleeps while I'm at work and I sleep while she is, and our overlap is together.
The drawbacks are obvious. I have utterly no tan now, and if I have more than two nights off my sleep patterns get all wonky. One or two nights, I just stay up all night and play on my computer for a bit, then go to sleep when Sandy leaves for work. There's also the problem of the weekends, where I'm trying to get some rest during the day while she is up.

I canNOT wake up early...it's just not possible- I quit! I usually work from 2-9:45pm....
my friends hang out late, and the morning is for sleeping just like the nightime is for partying/working ;D
I sleep ALOT. My friends are always shocked by how much I can sleep. I slept in 'til 10pm the other day. What they don't realize, is that I usually get to bed at around 4am.
Still, sleeping is what I do. There's nothing worth waking up for. I don't mean that depressingly...there just isn't. I guess I mean it more apathetically *shrug*

I work the evening shift (5\6PM to about 11\11:45PM) and I wouldn't have it any other way. I stay up waaay too late (currently it's after midnight and I'm wide awake) and I like to sleep in. I rarely do anything after 6 (well, working with the horses but I can do that most anytime) and this way I don't feel that I've wasted my entire day working.
It's funny though...my mom prefers her early morning-early afternoon shift (5AM-2\3PM), my sister prefers her early afternoon-early evening shift (2PM-7PM) and I prefer my nights. It's just a matter of how much of a morning person\night owl you are.
