I wish! Other than primetime writers slumming it for our writing assignments, this strike has no direct effect on us animation writers' ability to work right now. (Except for the animation writers who are also WGA members and are producers/show runners. They're caught in a pickle between two unions.) But hopefully the OUTCOME of the strike will end up affecting us lowly animation writers in some way, like including animation writers in some small part of the benefits of getting to be in the WGA, but who knows if that'll ever happen in my lifetime. Bets are that we're going to be one of the first items taken off the table. Again. So unless the animators' union strikes too, we get to--make that have to--keep working. But even then, for the likes of me who write almost entirely on shows that aren't even animators' union covered, it'll be business as usual no matter what. Short answer: Animation writers for the most part aren't affected by the work-stoppage of the WGA strike because animation writers aren't in the WGA (unless they happen to have also written other stuff that is covered by the WGA). This is one of the (lesser) items that the WGA is striking now to try to change. But I'm no expert on the subject of labor union disputes. Don't take my word as law on anything. ETA: Sorry 'bout the double post! How'd that happen... ETAA: Here's a URL for those interested in an easy-to-follow summary of what the crux of the WGA strike is about (unrelated to animation writers): www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ55Ir2jCxk&eurl=http://www.joshshill.com/2007/11/07/why-they-fight-the-writers-guild-speak-out/ETAAA: And here's a great blog about the strike: kfmonkey.blogspot.com/

Hats off--make that Ryan's hats, of course, heh--to my buddy Adam who wrote the pop-ups for HSM2! It's his first time, so be gentle. ;D Already posted this over on your Lucas site too.

Heads up! I just heard that the new Cartoon Network series, GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE, premieres this week in the US with the Christmas episode, half of which was written by yours truly! Tivo says it starts airing this Friday night at 8pm est/pst and repeats many, many, many times between then and Xmas. The 11-minute segment called "The Goat of Christmas Presents" is mine. Don't know if it's the first one or the second. I'll be just as surprised as you! ;D Report back here and let me know what you think of it! I sure hope it turned out funny. [chatter chatter chatter]

Those were all before my time, but yeah, this CN series is a new take on the old GOTJ. No Tom Slick or Super Chicken this time, though. Give it a look. I'd be interested to hear what you think of it.

You were right about the Rose Bowl! USC does rulez! They pwned Illinois 49-17, mainly on Illini turnovers. I am humbled. Again, thanks for taking time from your New Year's holiday and spending some of it with us. I was a privilege to have been a part of it.

Just as soon as we upgrade to cable, I'm limited to local broadcast TV, right now. Too bad about Super Chicken, I was fond of the show, the whole trilogy had a lot of that Jay Ward style humor, in the same vein as Rocky and Bullwinkle.

But I actually never went to a single game and know less than nothing about football. Except that apparently USC is pretty good at it. ;D Thanks for chatting with us today, Charlotte! You're all very welcome! It was a ton of fun for me too.
