ETAAAA: I was Kim for H'Ween 2005! Whew. That was a close one. We might have caused a rift in the space-time continuum. And I was Kim for Halloween in 2006! ... Ron! I mean Ron. I was Ron for Halloween in 2006!

Wow, Charlotte, I just looked at your MySpace profile and I must say, I'm impressed. It's quite random and I admire random people because they can come up with the greatest puns, jokes anyone has ever heard.
I'm guessing that most of the jokes Ron made up came from you, huh? Well, nice to meet you, Charlotte. Hope you have a nice time here and, I'll see you around.

Aw, shuckin's. Thanks. ;D Did you request an add? If your MySpace name's different, drop me a message to let me know it's Ron from here and I'll add you. Well, as much as I'd love to be able to take credit for all of Ron's outstanding dialogue over the years, since my one and only episode hasn't even aired yet, I'm gonna have to say no. Whatever hysterical Ron-isms you're thinking of, couldn't be mine. I was in another part of town at the time, Officer. This isn't even my car. Thanks, dude. Right back atcha!

If you knew how much animation writers got paid, you would laugh and laugh. And then laugh some more.If you wanna "make it in the biz", don't write animation! Write something that's covered by the Writers Guild! Well, hm. I'm finally starting to get 'serious' about my writing, and was going to start work on a spec script of KP, but now you've got me rethinking that... I was going to write it as an exercise, just to make sure I could do it, and then start on a feature screenplay I've been noodling on for several years. I saw that a while ago, but it's not really feasible for me - I've got a family to support, and $50K a year to survive in LA? Fuggetaboutit! That's an excellent blog, I'm about halfway through the archives. Thanks for pointing that out. Anybody with writing credits for both Firefly and Battlestar Galactica (two of the better-written shows next to KP) has my attention. Heh, OK, deal.

Beyond just as a writing exercise for yourself, a KP script will be absolutely worthless to you as a spec. Pick a sitcom or hour drama that's currently in production. (See Jane's blog for more details on this than I should really get into here.)Then you REALLY don't want to be an animation writer!

I think Charlotte is right about breaking into the biz - look into the ABC Fellowship program and/or The Warner Bros. writing program. I also highly recommend the book STORY by Robert McKee - it's a great primer for any would-be writer. I prefer it to the Syd Feild books because McKee focuses on the principals of good story telling as opposed to the "formula" for screenwriting - though the two are probably a good compliment to one another. If you're serious about screenwriting, don't just sit down and bang out a script - write a treatment first. Then rewrite that treatment. Figure out your story in a prose outline before you move on to that sexy stage of scripting. It's easier to throw out a paragraph from an outline than it is to throw out 4 pages of script. And for heaven's sake - stay out of animation. If you're going to go through the fight of breaking into an industry - break in to one that pays residuals and/or royalties aka something covered by the WGA.

(See Jane's blog for more details on this than I should really get into here.) I kind of thought as much, but it's good to know. Yes, I think I'll continue it as an exercise, as I think it's valuable for me to work on something I'm comfortable with, and I feel I know the KP universe and characters. (Doesn't hurt I've already got a couple of KP production scripts available, including one of Brian's.) I've been reading Jane's blog and am nearly through the archive, it's a good resource. I'm not sure which current-production show I could choose for a spec, since I don't really watch a ton of "popular" or network shows. Jane's blog makes it seem like if you don't watch The Office, you won't really break in... Want to be and can afford to be are two different things! It's something I'm actually familiar with... I had to pass up a "dream job" last year because I couldn't convince my wife to move the family to Denmark. A lot of people recommend submitting screenplays to contests, which sounds like a good idea. I'd like to work my way into the Big One and submit to the Nicholl Fellowship contest, whose annual deadline was... yesterday. So I've got a year to work my way into it. I think Charlotte is right about breaking into the biz - look into the ABC Fellowship program and/or The Warner Bros. writing program. Hadn't seen the Warner Bros program, but I'll look into it. ;D Ordered it from Amazon.com yesterday. I've seen many others recommend this book. Absolutely, I do that with my prose stories and it makes complete sense to do it for scripts. I hear ya. Although I would like to say that, although it might not be the most highly-paid or respected of genres, animation writing can be a real art form (when done at the level of quality displayed by KP). When I think of "good scripts" I have a handful of movies/shows that I think of... and the KP episode "Sick Day" is one of the best. Also, I feel that animation as a whole is underrated... it's been the formative entertainment for most kids during the last half-century, it shapes how we look at the world. What you write will help structure the neural pathways and decision-making processes of generations to come. But no pressure. Thanks Brian and Charlotte for your advice and suggestions! I really appreciate it. Binkmeister

Hiya, Charlotte!
Got a simple question for ya, and I hope you answer, LOL
What's your favorite food?
Mine used to be a nice porterhouse steak or a big cut of prime rib from Lowry's on La Cienega Blvd, but nowadays I'm partial to chicken or fish dishes.
Ah, the joys of advancing age, LOL!

A little birdie posted something on TWoP, and I need clarification, just in case I'm going crazy and two fandoms are starting to collide on me: You're the member that has an essay being printed in the Coffee at Luke's book coming out at the end of the month? The myspace addresses in both profiles matched, so if so: can I say that's really, really cool?

I am she. She I am. Would you like green eggs and ham? (Heh. Sorry. Couldn't resist.) After the GG series finale tomorrow night, I was going to ask Grandpa RD and the mods if I could post about the book here, in case of cross-over fandom. But you beat me to it, PearlRose!

So charlotte what episode did you write again for this season? I know you said it in the past but it's escaping my mind. I can't wait to see it.

I do not like them, Sam-I-am. I do not like green eggs and ham. The series finale tomorrow, oh yes. I am pretending to ignore that. Lalalalala, I cannot hear that! I'm glad I got to it first, but I mostly wanted to make sure the small, small world of the internet wasn't playing tricks on me, as it tends to do when I make an epiphany before breakfast. But that's still really cool. The VIP's are regular members elsewhere, too. ^^

And Tom Kenny's awesome! ( Mr. Show anyone?) Haha, yes! I love that show! And I do like him on Spongebob, but I haven't seen the show in a while... I see fans of the show on the Internet complain that the newer episodes aren't as good as the "classic" episodes, but that's kind of a standard for most television show fan-peoples.
