Shego deserves something more solid. Which maybe they're building up to with Drakken; She's had two 'failed' relationship starters. It's like Kim and Ron and her Eric and Mankey things, it might be a Shego's getting all these other guys when the perfect one was right there all along kind of scenario. Just a theory. Not one I'm too fond of either, because as I've said before I see those two as being a lot like siblings. Ah, stop! STOP! You're scaring me!! Shego is yours, and Drakken is mine! Hee, you know it!

Shego: No, I don't bake cakes, or jump out of them. Mr. Smarty: You're no fun.

She just wants the money

Not JUST the money. She also likes the house, the cars, and all the private lands that Martin also owns. Kid's a dealbreaker, though, and considering it's Artie, I can't blame her.

If you believe money can't bring you happyness, buy a waverunner and ride it. I dare you not to smile.

Well, personally, my philosophy is that you can't buy happiness, but you can certainly rent it by the hour.

If she were really only after the money, she would have just robbed him. Alimony schemes aren't really Shego's style.

We also have to remember, Shego hasn't had any real dating experience. She admitted as much to Kim in Stop Team Go. So flirting(Which I'm convinced is less about seduction and just a natural behavior thing) and hunky man toys aside, she may never have even been on a date, let alone had a boyfriend or anything. After the whole Barkin thing fell through, maybe she wanted to have a chance to date of her own steam, with a guy of her own choosing(I maintain that a choice made with half your personality gone isn't really a choice YOU made.) and Mr. Smarty was a convenient and more than willing option to pursue. Heck, she might have just been asking him about his money because she'd never before realised that there were actually wealthy, desirable men out there, a "You mean to tell me men enjoy stuff like that too?" kind of thing. If not for Artie, maybe it would have gone somewhere, who knows?
I don't think she'd go for something like military school or shipping the kid off. She's evil but she's not usually cruel when children are concerned. (When she stole from that baby in emotion sickness, that was different. Mind control, man!)

I've mentioned this somewhere before, but I think to some extent, they're using Shego (and Barkin) almost as comic relief and that translates (somewhat) into Shego's attempts to enter the dating scene. Just an idea, and one that only may be partially true, but I think it does factor in... in some tiny way.

Call me crazy, but I liked it.
I'm sure some people are offended by the idea of Shego being a gold-digger, but hey, she is a villain with little desire to take over the world herself (save for that whole SiT incident).
She and Martin could at least be make-out buddies or whatever.
I see her romantically involved with Barkin, but she could easily be Martin's mistress.

I say Martin and Barkin fight it out!

Hmm, that could be interesting. What kind of a fighter would Martin be? I always thought Barkin would be your basic, no tricks, slug them until they're down for the count, kind of boxer. Martin would probably just hire someone to fight Barkin.
Would Shego be impressed or annoyed that two guys were fighting over her? And what would be Drakken's reaction? (Oh no, he might lose his sidekick!)

Hm - well, I definitely don't see it as being a healthy or long-term relationship. I can see it being a short-lived, stereotypical young-hot-woman/rich-middle-aged man kind of fling - the kind where both parties know that it's all about fun and not commitment.
At least, that's how I could see their ship at this point. Perhaps it might work out at a different point, since neither Shego or Martin have many scruples. I found it quite amusing that Martin was still interested in Shego after realizing that she was the one to kidnap him.
But I really, really don't see her or Artie getting along. I doubt that neither would have patience with the other's attitude. Both of them seem to like to be the intimidator with the tude, which makes me think that they will clash.
