As we all know, KP merchandise for season 4 seems to be lacking. To verify, I stopped into a DISNEY store at our local mall this week. Sure enough, not ONE THING of KP in the ENTIRE STORE!! If you go online, they have hardly a thing. Just some generic stuff from past years. In fact, they are selling stuff at closeout prices. Check out page 2 of the disney store under KP: BROKEN LINK - TIME SENSITIVE WONT REMAIN STATIC
Now, all of this is likely to get many people upset with Disney as they are obviously not supporting the show. But, hang on a sec. If it was some kind of conspiracy against KP, then other Disney shows would be getting love, right? That's not happening either. Right now, some of Disney's hottest shows are Hannah Montana, Corey in the House, Suite Life of Zach/Cody. I looked around the Disney store for stuff from these shows....and...NOTHING!! Wha???
Check out Hannah's Disney store options. Its worse than Kim's!!! BROKEN LINK - TIME SENSITIVE WONT REMAIN STATIC
This is really odd. There was a time (and I have read several articles about this) where Disney made shows to sell merchandise. When the show had run its 65 episode course, the moved on to the next show and a whole new set of merchandise. By doing this, fresh stuff was constantly in the stores and no show ran so long it wore out its welcome.
Disney has now done an about-face on this policy. It appears the only stuff they are selling in stores is movie-related items (Cars, Pirates of Carribean, etc..) and tried and true items (Princess collection, Mickey, Donald, etc.) Even the store workers are scratching their heads.
Sure would be a good time to snag merchandising rights on Disney shows since they are ignoring the demand.

I wouldn't buy everything, but I would surely buy a few goods. It's a pity I can't find anything here in Spain either. ¡__¡

It's probably because they used to have the Disney Afternoon (Ducktales, Chip N Dale, Darkwing Duck, etc...) on a regular tv channel instead of on cable.

Hence why I wish I tried to get that one doll set out of this crane game. First time I saw anything that was actually worth taking a shot and I was always leaving the store. Ofcourse right now all I'd say I'd get are the games. Hmm curious what would pop up on an ebay search. Did it and get 9 pages of stuff. search.ebay.com/Kim-Possible_W0QQfromZR40(some things I never did know about) I'm kind of surprised though, They could start up again, do Kim in her new cheersquad outfit, Ron in football gear. Man their missing out.

Hey, at least the Mouse House is treating Kim better than the Muppets, a tried and true family property they've now owned for 3 years. What do we have in the ENTIRE 3 YEARS? Let's see... A TV-movie, DVD re-releases with LESS special features and HIGHER prices than before, and a high-end $500 Kermit replica that's near impossible to find. Just saying, it COULD be a worse sitch for Kim, not that this one isn't a bad one. NOTE: I'm showing my support for Kim today, if I can get mom to drive me, I'm buying What's the Switch?

I pointed out the same thing on another thread a few weeks ago. Can't find squat in stores now.
On the other hand, does Disney really call the shots on that front? After all, it's the toy manufacturers who make the decisions on what toys they produce, isn't it? Or is it a joint venture with Disney a full participant in decision-making?
I put that question in the queue during Steve Loter's chat last Sunday, but he had to leave before the question was asked. Chances are, he knows nothing about the merchandise department anyway. So I think I'll pose that question to the VIP's in general here; maybe they can find somebody who has the inside scoop on that.
Am I mistaken, but wasn't there a big stir just prior to the November 2005 official announcement of the KP season 4, that there would be a "new line of merchandise in 2007"? It was before the announcement because a lot of us were speculating that it portended a contunuation of the series (turns out we were right). Also, someone in the fandom (I can't remember who), who works at a toy store, has reported that there are new KP-related items headed to their store (they didn't say when).
My take about the absence of merchandise: there's a big line of stuff ready to hit the stores soon, but the items will be vastly different from the old merchandise. My prediction is that the new line will target a somewhat older audience (teens and up). The old merchandise seemed to mostly target 7-12 year old girls, but as it turned out the show appealed to a broad spectrum of people (plus, the 7-12 year old girls are now 4 years older), and this change in demographics will be reflected in the new line. I believe the Playstation games were the beginning of this trend. So, they're waiting until the stores are cleared of the old stuff before introducing the new, to "cleanse the palate," so to speak.
Another reason the shelves aren't stocked yet is because this is a bad time of year for toy sales. We're just past the Christmas rush and it's still too early for summertime stuff, not to mention back-to-school things. If there's to be a new line of merchandise, I'll bet it'll start with summer-related items, and after that some general merchandise. But like I said, I think it'll be more for teens than kids this time around.

Hmm, if there was wouldn't we see something at Toyfair 2k7 (been checking out coverage but haven't seen anything) Unless is a secret thing. I just wonder what company does the new stuff.
Well if don't see anything there we know no new dolls/figurines then.

I was at the Disney Store yesterday. I saw 3 KP things- a toy cellphone, and 2 washcloths. Nothing new. However, in the center on the mall, there were those machines that give out small toys or gum when you put quarters in. There was a Kim Possible one with charms for necklaces or whatever. They were a dollar each, but I put all my money in and got 3 Drakkens, 3 Shegos, 1 Kim, and 1 Ron. Though I know those charms aren't a new item either, it was just really cool to see them.

Not seen those yet, I saw little coffee mugs and that was it. (just not into those I'd take the figurines) This was in a Meijer of all places too. They don't have this machine anymore (well I haven't seen it)

I know I'd love to cover my desk with kp merch Does seem a bit strange, though some of FaZhou's reasons make sense. Guess now we play the waiting game...

I tried both links, the first one gave me a blank white page and the second one just had a header on it, but nothing else (and all the links in the header went to blank white pages too). Anybody else have that problem?
Anywho, I've noticed a severe lack of KP merchandise, and a surge of *insert derogatory term here* stuff. And I don't surf E-Bay really, I probably should, my mom has shown me a bunch of good deals on there (actually, that's where she got her last semi I think).

This is an interesting phenomenon for sure. I've written 4 letters to the manufacturers of KP products, and have received no reply from ANYONE as of yet.
I'm thinking a sitch has arrived where the licensed toy makers haven't picked up the option (if there even WAS one) in their contracts to make KP stuff for season 4.
I'm going to call my contact at Mattel and see what's up with this... He JUST got back from a MAJOR toy con in Hong Kong.
I'll report back soon.

I haven't come across any KP merchandise in any store for MONTHS (with the exception going to the games).
The only close source for KP merchandise I have is Ebay, of course if I was in Orlando there is a small chance that one of the gigantic disney stores down there carried something!

Maybe Disney hedged their bets, and waited until S4 started before considering merchandising? They sure kicked around that renewal decision a long time.
There have to be dolls though, right? All the kids who just started watching need one. Seriously, I'm grownup and if I didn't have my plush Kim I'd probably be institutionalized.
