Sorry about Kim Possible not making the top 40 for the week, guys. I was really rooting for those crazy kids. I think Disney is more concerned about how Kim Possible does against its competitors, Nick and Cartoon Network, in the Saturday 8 PM slot, than how it does in the overall numbers. I wish I could get the ratings breakdown by timeslot, but you probably have to be a client of Nielsen's to get such detailed ratings info. NOTE: this ratings list takes into account the SAT MORNING cartoons that show on Nick (Spongebob, Fairy Oddparents, Avatar, etc.) The USA TODAY ratings exempt the sat morning stuff. Wow, I was wondering why there was such a discrepancy between the USA Today numbers and the ones on Top5s.com. Thanks man. I didn't even know kids today still watched cartoons on Saturday morning

It is a sad taste of affairs of the intellegence of our country, that the Disney Channel original live action shows get better ratings than the Disney Channel original animated shows. I think the animated shows especially KP are much better quality shows.

if we wish to make kim get better ratings we need to spread the word to other people. Fans we know who were online before, but can't be found and what not. The more viewers the better the ratings

A little off-topic...I just wanna know, how does Nielsen determine which household to take as samples? Do they randomly choose themselves or does the household volunteer to participate? Does the household get paid for doing that?

Does the household get paid for doing that? It's confusing but a lot of people have Nielson soundscan boxes. At the Begining of Season 4 of THE OC they would show the new episodes a week early on Myspace. The Producer of the OC made an announcement before each show that was on myspace that to make sure you watch if you have a nielson box.

Does the household get paid for doing that? Yeah, they choose which households get the "black boxes" completely randomly. I think the magic number is 5,000 households. No, I don't think they get retribution for taking part in the survey.

So, with 5,000 households as samples, they use this info to estimate the total amount of viewers in millions? Hardly a reliable sample, I must say....as the sample taken is less than 1% (or less than 0.2% for that matter) of the total population (in terms of estimated amount of viewers).

Well its not perfect but they also pick out people to fill out surveys on what they watch also.

This is how most polls work. They choose a represesentative sample of the universe, in this case all TV viewers in the US. It has to be accurate within a few percentage points, or else TV stations around the country wouldn't pay millions of dollars for the research.

KP was able to make it to 21 during the premiere, but was unable to maintain that....and this season's quality, both story and animation, has been the best (for the most part of it) so far!!!! I really hope the ratings would pick up soon!

Yeah the show has a lot of promise and far better than it ever was! But we shouldn't be too worry about it. People are still watching it and with the success of the Kim Possible video games (over a million sold for the new ds game as far I know) and the fact that Kim Possible new season is on itunes shows us that it is in demand. As for the rating, unless we are paying for the ratings scale we wouldn't know for sure how the show is doing compare to other shows on that time slot. Just tell more people about the show or send gift card of the show to your friends.

I agree--the writing this season is superb so far! It's a quality show!
And yet the US citizens aren't really known for appreciating quality shows...

VIP's can NOT comment on ratings for 2 reasons: 1. Its not their place. The studio makes announcements on ratings 2. Its not their expertise. They depend on experts in the ratings analysis dept. at Disney

Wow, 2 weeks in a row. That's harsh, man. If the episodes are available online before they air on TV, that could be cutting into the ratings a bit. I guess that would be no big since Disney would count online viewers somehow, because they'd still be making money off that revenue stream. Or maybe the ratings are just in a slump now and they'll pick up soon. They probably just need flashier promos that'll brainwash the 6-14ers into watching the show Saturday nights.

Look at the kinda crap that we've put out: Survivor, The Real World, The Osbournes, South Park, every reality show ever made, The Simple Life, and more! Yeah, we wouldn't know taste if it danced naked in front of us wearing the Bueno Nacho baseball cap.
