Good God, they suck! I did a quick Net Search for your ISP and found this page: www.charter.com/Visitors/NonProducts.aspx?NonProductItem=66Those are all the modems that your High Speed Internet is Compatible with. RoadRunner has something similar on their page. I personally recommend Motorola SURFboard 5101. I've used it since February and it's caused me no problems. But it's not cheap. I got it at Best Buy for $80. It's the best in the Market and is available at virtually all online retailers. Though, we had similar probs with our Net Service, it would go down for several hours in the afternoon. Turns out, after Tech Support came, that it was because of the hook up (which was a splitter for the TV and Modem). Do you have a television hooked up in the same room with the modem, and if so, are they hooked up to the same cable? A splitter looks something akin to this:
