My husband said they ate the coffee dry to stay awake on patrol sometimes.
Yep, that's what he said...most of the food was okay but bland, although some was awful. They apparently put little tiny bottles of Tabasco sauce in the MRE's (or some of them) and he said the guys in his unit traded and hoarded those (kinda like cigarettes in WWII movies).
I love spicy food too, and so does my oldest daughter, but the youngest prefers very bland food. Go figure.
Yeah, our barbecue sauce isn't that hot, although when I make it I make it hotter. Was it the vinegar based sauce you had? That's what we make in my region of the state.
I grew up eating a more interesting variety of foods than most people here because my mother loved to cook and loved to experiment with food from various cultures.

We ate the instant coffee dry for the same reasons, another one of those deals where you just needed to keep going no matter how tired you were. Coastal warfare is a pretty bare bones proposition, you don't have the option of making hot water or brewing coffee a lot of times, plus the powder gives one a pretty concentrated caffeine shot. There are some pretty long days when you are on operations.
The appearance of the Tabasco sauce was very well recieved, I think it comes in just about all the rations now, but at first it just came in a select few meals. Somewhere there is a picture of a bunch of my guys out on one of the boats, with Tabasco bottles stuck in the loops of their boonie hats, along with grenade piins and plastic spoons.
I've had both and lean towards the vinegar base since I like the tartness of vinegar on many foods. I've picked up a couple of recipes and make my own to go with pork dishes and sausage, it's probably a bit hotter than mostof the commercial sauces.

Shads comes through again. Intresting pose, at least she managed to keep her undershorts on while all the rest was disintigrating. I've recently taken an interest in web comics, so I'll somewhat return the favor: www.angels2200.com/. his one is pretty good, well written and the artwork gets progressively better. It's on hiatus right now while the artist and writer work up the next volumn. Enjoy. Good thing these are a new discovery, I find enough ways to burn time to no good use as it is.

BTW: Hi Allow me to offer you a belated "Yo". I presume, if the hentai girls were real, they would require similar assists. Of course most of them defy gravity routinely. Quoted for truth. are you the kind of "g" little homies wanna be? People all over the world aspire to be like me... a shame that's not a good thing. My foolish behavior tended to revolve around volunteering to go to the sorts of schools and assignments that many folks consideed to be either excessively dangerous, ill considered or exotic. What exotic assignments might that be? Not too many girls I know of who'll lay in blood like that. What game is she from? I'd hate having someone plan out all my weekends, too. Or try to 'improve' (meaning, of course, completely change) me. I prefer being (or my husband being) only-partially-domesticated. Sort of like my cats. They love to lie on a cushy chair and groom themselves until they're sleek and beautiful...but when they go outside...well, we don't have a rodent problem around here. Despite our cat's old age, she's still able to drag wild animals into the household and consume them. She's become rather lazy lately though, much to the happiness of the other people I live with. This old man and me were at the bar and we Were having us some beers and swappin’ I don’t cares Talking politics, blonde and red-head chicks Old dogs and new tricks and habits we ain’t kicked We talked about God’s grace and all the hell we raised Then I heard the ol' man say; God is great, beer is good and people are crazy He said "I fought two wars, Been married and divorced" What brings you to Ohio? He said "Damned if I know" We talked an hour or two about every girl we knew What all we put ‘em through Like two old boys will do We pondered life an death He light a cigarette He said, "These da mn things will kill me yet; But God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy" Last call it’s 2am, I said goodbye to him I never talked to him again Then one sunny day, I saw the old man’s face Front page obituary, he was a millionaire He left his fortune to some guy he barely knew, his kids were mad as hell But me, I’m doing well And I drop by today to just say thanks and pray. And I left a six-pack right there on his grave and I said; God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy. God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy. God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy. Interesting lyrics, couldn't listen to the song though (embedding disabled). You'll have to relink if you happen to see this. I'm also interested in a number of rather esoteric things and my collection of oddball stuff isn't the sort of thing most people want around their house. As a really good friend of mine once said of my house when I had lived by myself, prerelationship: it looks like a cross between a SEAL team gear locker and the basement of the National Museum (things have returned to that state, which is rather comforting). There tend to be instruments, specimens, chemicals, tools, weapons and machinery all over the place. It's probably not the best locale to bring small children, unless one is attempting some sort of archane experiment in Darwinian processes or they are sharp enough to understand that don't touch anything means don't touch anything. Sounds like an interesting theme park to visit. Hope that went well for you. Are you liking it so far? I'm curious how UCLA does their terms. How are they broken up? Into semesters or what? At my school, we have a Spring and Fall semester consisting of 15 weeks, a Maymester with 2 weeks, and two summer terms that are at best a month long. As eclogite said, UCLA is on the quarter system, three regular quarters plus summer. Winter and spring breaks thankfully take place between quarters and not during them. Guess that answers part of my question from above... did you have enough book shelves, or did you need to build more? What's the last thing you BBQed? Nice pose. I guess I'm going to have to actively look for anime some time. I've never paid a lot of attention to it in the past (not sure if Samurai Jack qualifies, it never struck me as quite as stylistic as most of the anime examples I've seen). You knowing of the Jack makes you cooler. As to the picture you're referring too (since I can't quote it), it's like a general has captured me and is try to acquire information from me. Pretty decent swimsuit. I can actually see someone wearing that. And this is definitely not because i got a PM of CJS asking whether I'm posting pics of women in his thread and not slacking off... Hey, I just had to make sure things were still in order upon my return. ;D Seductive. More cool points for you if you can manage to come up with a picture of that. Shads comes through again. Intresting pose, at least she managed to keep her undershorts on while all the rest was disintigrating. I don't know, it looks like they're in the process of burning. They just haven't fallen off yet. Good thing these are a new discovery, I find enough ways to burn time to no good use as it is. How long have you been a fan of comics in general?

How long have you been a fan of comics in general? Wow, you must've saved up all quarter, I haven't seen a list like that since whomever it was used to send people those multipage lists of questions when they started an "ask me" page (also one of the reasons I didn't, it was too much like homework...) Anyway, I hope classes and exams went well. Exotic assignments involved things like mountain warfare school, parachute school, survival school and mine warfare school, amongst others. This led to things like assignments in places where people kept trying to shoot us (without success, so far, i'd like to keep my record) and entertainments like fishing Russian manufactured mines out of the Persian Gulf. Plus I've been sent to many out of the way places of the world that just about nobody has heard of that wasn't from there. Same thing happened with biological and geological pursuits, yclept the shooting part, mapping in the high Rockies, sampling in cloud forests in Mexico and jungles in Honduras, seismic research in the Gulf of Mexico and so forth. I've spent much of my life, one way or another, beyond what Kipling called the "edge of cultivation". I guess the UC system has changed some since I was part of it, we used to have the Winter quarter start right after Thanksgiving and then get a two week Christmas break (the only reason I remember this is that the first exams were usually right after the break. Of course they probably quit using clay tablets to take notes on since then, as well. I had a cat that used to bring me presents, typically in the form of headless mice or lizards, park them on my pillow and then look offended when I tossed them out my back door. I barbecued a couple of rib eyes over the week end, they came out real well. If the weather cooperates I'll probably smoke a roast Saturday. My place is usually an "A" ticket ride, especially for small children or pets, though there are frequently conversations along the lines of "put that spear down...." Had to build bookcases, the ex has my old ones, also need to build owrk tables and racks for everything. It's really nice living by myself, again. I'm a rather private person and growing progressively more curmugeonly and misanthropic as tiem bumbles along. I'm very fond of doing things when I want to do them and not working around a bunch of other folks. I learned to read with comic books, so I've been looking at them since before I was even in grade school. Kind of lost interest in everything except MAD for quite a long time, but have recently discovered web comics and become quite enthralled with them. In addition to Angels 2000 I also follow ZAP!, Girl Genius and several others. One thing I like about the web versions is that the artwork and writing are frequently quite good and not as constrained as syndicated comics often are. The picture of my guys with the Tobasco was lost, along with most of my Desert Storm pictures when the company that was making the unit cruisebook (kind of a military yearbook sort of thing) mislplaced them. The only one I was able to save was of a couple of buddies messing around with captured helicopters.

Ah ok, as in the legend of Zelda video game (never played it, but I've heard of it)? Hopefully she dyed her hair rather than died it, I don't think she'd be as fetching if she were to go bald

Though... she had Brown HAir in Link to the Past... so Maybe he dyed her hair blonde for OOt and WW... then went back to Brown for TP and Brawl. (and I think she had Blond hair in the NES games seeing as she had Blonde hair in the Cartoon series) and yet... Shiek still has Blonde hair... :-\

Could be she's like a former student of mine, who used to have a different hair color every time she showed up in class, courtesy of the rapid explosion of Jell-o flavors in the 1990s.

Kiss from a rose. Wow, you must've saved up all quarter, I haven't seen a list like that since whomever it was used to send people those multipage lists of questions when they started an "ask me" page (also one of the reasons I didn't, it was too much like homework...) Nope, finally came on one night and commented on what interested me. Anyway, I hope classes and exams went well. I passed... let's leave it at that. I had a cat that used to bring me presents, typically in the form of headless mice or lizards, park them on my pillow and then look offended when I tossed them out my back door. Funny how pets do that as a form of appreciation to their owners. I barbecued a couple of rib eyes over the week end, they came out real well. If the weather cooperates I'll probably smoke a roast Saturday. *is hungry* My place is usually an "A" ticket ride, especially for small children or pets, though there are frequently conversations along the lines of "put that spear down...." The Smithsonian had better watch out or you'll put it out of business. That's Zelda, prior to when she died her heair brown for Twilight Princess... Ah, OK. That's what I thought, but I could have sworn she had brown hair the last time I saw her, hence the confusion. New favorite character giving Asuka a run for her money? Peach is quite turned on by what she sees. Could be she's like a former student of mine, who used to have a different hair color every time she showed up in class, courtesy of the rapid explosion of Jell-o flavors in the 1990s. ZT's sister and Nik's wife are like that; always changing their hair color, only they go for blue, red, purple, etc.

........... What would you say is the most dangerous thing(s) you've done? ......The Smithsonian had better watch out or you'll put it out of business. Ah, OK. That's what I thought, but I could have sworn she had brown hair the last time I saw her, hence the confusion. ......... Kind of depends on how you define danger, I suppose. I've found that just about all the really interesting things in life involve a certain element of risk. Probably the most physically dangerous, aside from actual combat, were things like technical mountaineering, aerobatic flying, landing small boats in heavy surf, working with explosive, working with pathogens, exotic gas diving, carrier landings and that sort of thing. I've had enough near misses that it's hard to single one out. I think probably the most dangerous aspects of any of those were occaissions where I was working in conjunction with people who were either not well trained in the task, hadn't worked together previously or were simply not as skilful or attentive as was required. Any time you add other people to the mix, it adds all manner of unforseen hazards (in systems engineering the rule of thumb is that people will commit an error once in every 1,000 performances of a given task, obviously the more people involved, the closer you get to a 1.0 probability of an error, this is why the military trains so relentlessly). I would never challenge the Smithsonian, I enjoy the museums far too much and have friends that work there.
