Sounds like the Crossover idea is gaining momentum. I'll have a chat with staff on it.

We have done fan art and i liked that contest a lot. Still i think they want to try something different this time. Fan Video i think should be the next step from Fan Art.

I still don't see what's wrong with a contest for all fan works... gives everybody a chance

I agree. I liked the old multi-category contests we had back in the day.

Im just hoping what would voting be like writing stuff , you should check nabusans answer " I would vote the most popular one" like would he even going to read it? this might occur alot, so writing stuff is bit edgy...

Just coz Nabusan said he did it once doesn't mean everyone will do it.
It takes really good talent to get the right attention for your fic. If you got a vote, then you earned it. regardless of the reasons.

If it's to be a multi-genre contest, I'd strongly suggest keeping the categories separate because of the apples-to-oranges problem. Fanfiction would be at a huge disadvantage because it takes a whole lot longer to read a fanfic than to view a piece of fanart.

Yeah, three separate threads for the three categories. Old school, but it works Of course, that'd mean three separate prizes ^^

If we wanted to include fanfics, what about setting a word count limit? Say 1,000-2,000 words? That way those who enter with fics have to craft it in such a way to tell a story, but get to the point quickly. Plus short length gives the judges time to read more fics in a reasonable amount of time for the judging.
And for those who think writing a complete fic can't be done within 2000 words, may i point you to my own short fic "The Dare?"

You would be amazed how fast the words can come.

A good crossover would be nice.

I love the idea of a word limit. It's like writing a well-written essay. You have to try and show all your skills and creativeness in the space of 3,000-ish words.

I personally don't think it should be a crossover, my main reason is that people would vote for their favourite shows rather than the quality of the crossover (especially video editing).

Well of course the shows you choose are gonna have to be recognizeable and unobscure if you want to get higher votes.... But I see no reason for something well-drawn, well-written, and well-edited to get treated differently, at least by me.

2000 at least. no more than 3000. You would be amazed how fast the words can come. Yeah, that would make more sense. And yes, I do know how fast the words can come. It's why it took so long for me to get Chapter 2 of the Hyde Factor out, because they just wouldn't STOP coming. --Erin M.
