They're only beaten worse because they've got more to beat. If it were scaled down, they wouldn't be beaten as much due to the amount of cannon fodder the good guys need to fight through first.

Otherwise, there isn't much you can do other than pray.

And you lost me again. The villains that win tend to have more forces because they own the planet, right? There's a higher cannon fodder to villain ratio, so the villain personally takes less damage in comparison to one with small forces.

It seems Teala is around. Would it be possible to ask her a question?

As they say, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Villains who build up bigger plans and bigger forces tend to lose a whole lot more when they actually get beaten. A great example is Lex Luthor. He spent years building his company up without getting caught for his criminal acts, but when he finally did (though he was cleared of over 120 charges), his loses were huge. His money, his company, his rep... gone. Karma gets to everyone sooner or later. What goes around comes around. It seems Teala is around. Would it be possible to ask her a question? I locked her out. Try Tenkan's thread.

But how badly does the villain themself get beaten? As in, them personally. The damage is spread over a wider area, so less is inflicted upon them. Yes, but you can't keep a bad guy down. I bet he came back with another plan. That ultimately failed, but still a plan. Nope. Good things happen to bad people too. C'est la vie.

I dunno, I've seen some get the snot beat out of them, and even killed. He's done a few things here and there, but otherwise, Luthor's down for the count right now. Not to say he won't be back, but still... Yes, and bad things happens to good people. But I assure you, there is a natural balance in which the universe works. No one can truly escape karma.

Overkill anyone? Luthor's one of Supe's recurring villains. He'll probably never go down. Be it a clone, an alternate dimension version of him, a brain transplanted form of him... Exactly. The universe is not fair. Disagree. I could go out into the street and shoot a few dozen people. If I were sneaky enough at that, I'd get off scot-free.

Overkill anyone? Sometimes its needed in fiction, if the villain is powerful enough. Oh, of course. These days, he's been working with Darkseid. Well, no. But it's not supposed to be! If the universe was fair, we wouldn't have to start wars over things like oil, layers of the Earth's atmosphere wouldn't be vanishing, and people could at least agree to disagree on important matters. But sadly, we live in a world where things are imperfect, and the only thing we can do is try to make it better. You think so? Karma doesn't work like the police, it's more of a universal justice system. You'd have to be through it to actually get it.

Sometimes its needed in fiction, if the villain is powerful enough. But most of the time, the damage to leader / damage to minions spread is better for the leader if they have a lot of minions. More to fight through, less left to hit them with. Exactly. Can't keep a bad guy down. Well, that's not an example of the universe being unfair. That's an example of humans being gits. The minority rarely affects a change. Yes. Many, many bad people in history have gotten off scot-free. For instance, the Omagh Bombings. No one has been convicted for that, even though the police tapped their phone lines and quite a few people know who did it.

More to fight through, less left to hit them with. Now you know that never happens in fiction. Right, but if the universe was fair, we wouldn't be, now would we? Wayda put a postitive spin on things. But the things that people trying to change things aren't minorities anymore. You see it more and more here in America. You said it yourself, the universe is unfair. And for all we know, the bomber got what was coming to him in some other form.

Now you know that never happens in fiction. It happens a lot, actually. Usually in those cases, the heroes get saved by something else at the last minute. We could be. Just because it would be doesn't mean we would be any less gittish. It's how we got to where we are today. On the backs of weaker and more stupid things! I do that a lot. There are people who say they'll try to help, but they tend to just say it. That's all. Exactly. I'm pointing that out. Nope. They're still safe, and alive. Nothing bad that I know of has happened to them. 29 deaths, and no universal payback.

And usually, the villain gets defeated by whatever/whoever saves them. Face it, the wicked never prosper. But if the universe was fair... I mean, since we're the main cause of these problems, we'd have to wisen up in order to prevent these things from happening in the first place. Yes, but there are people actually doing things to help. It's a very 50/50 issue. And you know this... how?

It happens a lot, actually. Usually in those cases, the heroes get saved by something else at the last minute. And usually, the villain gets defeated by whatever/whoever saves them. Fortunately, there are some examples to the contrary. Hooray for evil! Explain how Saddam ruled his country for a while under a highly oppressive but profitable regime then. Wasn't until the 'Global Policemen' jumped in that he was toppled. And the Soviets. Highly oppressive Communist regime. Directly competed with the other superpower until it overworked itself. And now it's making a comeback. We're the main cause of these problems. Not the others. For instance, us being here in the first place. So out of the people that say they'll help, half of them actually do something? Wow. America is not very eco-friendly. Wikipedia, BBC News... you know.

And usually, the villain gets defeated by whatever/whoever saves them. Fortunately, there are some examples to the contrary. Hooray for evil! Very, very rarely. And yet both of them faced terrible defeats and even death in the end. Well, if that's the arguement, then the universe can't possibly be fair with actual beings living in it. Fairness and perfection aren't wired into our systems; if it was, life would be like an old sci-fi novel, where everyone was the same. Not always, but we're making... progress. And when did you hear this?

Fortunately, there are some examples to the contrary. Hooray for evil! Very, very rarely. I even know of a game where you're the evil character. And the player always wins. The Georgian Crisis happened about a month ago. The Soviet Union is making a comeback. Not 'defeated' that well, was it? Even without it can't. Perfection does not and cannot exist. Existance itself is imperfect. Even then, that would not be perfect. Two steps forward, one and a half back? 1 - 2 days ago. The news that the police recorded the calls was made public then.

Very, very rarely. I even know of a game where you're the evil character. And the player always wins. That's one game compared to almost every story known to man. Unless I'm mistaken, The Soviet Union fell years ago. The Georgian Crisis was the goverment of Russia's doing. I haven't heard a word of Soviet Union involvement. Thus making this aguement pointless. My point exactly. Something like that. We're trying, we really are. It just takes time. Hm... and when were these calls recorded?

I even know of a game where you're the evil character. And the player always wins. That's one game compared to almost every story known to man. I'm certain there are more. The Soviet Union was the imperialistic agressive government structure that made up the leadership of countries including Russia. Russia's recent actions bring to mind their previous USSR mindset. It's possible they could recreate it. Considering we're a pointless species discussing a pointless topic, I'd say that's also true. However, may as well discuss it. ... wait, wasn't that my point as well? Time, effort and money. Three things most capitalists refuse to give up. Unfortunately, that's what Western society basically is. Shortly before the bombings. The day they were carried out, I think.

That's one game compared to almost every story known to man. I'm certain there are more. Artemis Fowl? Oh, I know that. I've read enough in history and seen enough on the news to be aware of it. You just made it sound like the USSR was still the world power it used to be, which could happen, but hasn't. Huh... you make a good point. So we finally agreed on something here? Not always. I dunno what you see on your evening news, but I can feel a change coming on this year. Things will be better. Ah-ha! So there's no telling what became of the bombers after that!
