Just wondering...U know how Kim always says , " what;s the sitch"...But then, I was watching ," Buffy The Vampire Slayer,"..and they mention sitch many times...did Kim probably say it because its catchy? Or the word sitch was created long ago? I dunno how to word this...but this is how i word it..

It seems the most logical abbreviation of "situation". Like they used "diff" for "difference" in "Bad Boy".

More than likely it's just an abbreviation for "situation", as Donteatacowman said. Makes sense.
Honestly, I always assumed it was just something the writers came up with for a catchphrase.

It is definitely short for situation, but I know the writers for Kim Possible were not the ones who came up with it. As you said, it was in Buffy, and I heard at least once in Beast Wars, which ran from 1996-1999.

I think the word was first used in the unaired pilot for Buffy, but considering that it is just a shortening of situation it's not unreasonable to think that it was probably used by someone else in human history before that.

It definatly sounds cooler than "what's the situation?"

I remember I didn't know what it was, until my little cousin explained it to me, haha I was so out of it.

I've seen it in fanfics and such as "What's the stitch?" or "What's the snitch?" so many times it's not even funny anymore.

I've seen it in fanfics and such as "What's the stitch? ROTFL! Funny you should mention that...... When Kim met Lilo (in the Lilo&Stitch/KP crossover episode), there's a bit of a very confusing conversation between them. Kim: What's the sitch? Lilo: No, Stitch! Kim: It's like a catchphrase, you know? Lilo: Stitch is not a catchphrase, he's my friend! And so on.....

I enjoyed that part. It was like 4 years in the making, since both franchises came out around the same time.

It definatly sounds cooler than "what's the situation?" And there's a flip side to all this as well... Can you imagine there being a national crisis, and the President being called to a briefing in the "Sitch Room?" (Come to think of it, that's probably what Bush has been calling it for the last eight years.)

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a nod to Buffy, but given the comparisons between the two it's funny to start watching Buffy and hear her demand to Giles "What's the sitch?" after hearing it from Kim so many times.
