For those who read my little thread in the Video section, this story may sound familiar, but I figure I should spread the word.
Recently, Viacom sued YouTube over copyrighted content; this included videos, music, and everything in between. What I failed to realize was that Disney was in on this as well.
Within the last week, I've lost five videos to this lawsuit, all over the music. This included my High School Musical work and my first Shego video. All gone. I'm glad I have them copied to my computer.
I won't post them again though, not unless things settle.
This is a warning to all those who make KP videos or any AMVs in general, and use YouTube or Google Video. It seems as though they are seriously cracking down on fan-created videos using anything copyrighted, so be prepared to lose videos or even accounts. I don't know how bad this is for anyone else (I have over 100 videos, so I may simply feeling this the worst because I have so many), but I would like to keep everyone informed in case you start facing a similar sitch.
I'm in the process of getting a few of my older videos off YouTube with Zamzar, then I'll wait it out. If things get worse, or if I get banned over copyright, I'm offically taking my videos elsewhere.
Any thoughts on this or similar stories, please post.

A lot of accounts have been getting banned for the same reason, I hope mine doesn't. I've worked so hard on my youtube account over the years. www.youtube.com/zillious06

For once I'm actually glad I hate to use youtube and host my own videos My first few KP videos were licensed and they still should be legal to post on youtube (for me at least, although I never have). Disney though is getting much tighter on granting licenses, so I doubt I would ever be able to obtain another license ever again.

I just lost one video not long ago that I've had since like day one when YouTube was brand new, one that actually was on the top ten on the site because there wasn't much on there anyway and it was my most discussed video with people actively discussing/feuding about the Civil War - and I don't really care, LOL.

I don't seem to have any problems with copyright so far.

My first Avatar vid (thankfully, perhaps, the first half sucked 'cause WMM was off that day) was taken down as soon as it uploaded because of copyrighted visual content. Was upset at the time, but... Ah well.

Statement: I have only experienced this once with one of my soundtrack videos..."Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Finale"
Repeat: Finale.
Continuation: The last addition to the soundtrack, and I'm not aloud to upload it! I tried, but it suggested I replace the music with "Other Music"...they gave me a pathetic selection of hip-hop...the only classic they had was Batovin.

Lost number six today. I finally got sick of it and put most of my work on private until further notice.

Typical studios of course, seeing Viacom is one of the greediest of them all, Viacom makes billions yet they have nothing better to do then to go around crying foul over fan made videos.
They should be appreciating the fans not trying to sue them and of course it's not surprising Disney entered this as well. Yes we need copyright, but only to a certain limit. Studios need to make money of their properties, but there must be some common ground to work with and not just straight out greed.
Someday soon these greedy mindless and unabsorbed companies will fall and then they can thank their very practices for their fall from grace.

Usually, I find that anytime between four weeks and three months, some studios will tap YouTube on the shoulder and YouTube would act accordingly in deleting videos/accounts. It's usually never a matter of 'if,' but when.
I mean, after all, it is Viacom... who have graced us all with atrocities such as today's MTV & BET.

After I lost another video the other day, I decided to try and dispute the claim. I explained my intention for making each video blocked, and amazingly, they put them back up! And they've stayed up!

Wow, this is interesting.... Well, in case you decide you've had enough of youtube why not try www.livevideo.com/ ? There are tons of copyrighted material there and there seems to be no crackdown. Just a suggestion.

youre helping me with this, if i run into the same problem! It's been very luck of the draw. They'll delete one video with copyrighted material, but not others of the same style. Another note about getting videos back up. YouTube's understanding can be explained by something I read in an article, that Viacom ordered 10,000 deletions, but only 70 of these videos were true copyright infringement. Wow, this is interesting.... Well, in case you decide you've had enough of youtube why not try www.livevideo.com/ ? There are tons of copyrighted material there and there seems to be no crackdown. Just a suggestion. I thought about that, but I think I'm safe for now. Thanks, Darth!

Oh too bad...... Brightside, I never was a fan of those ones anyway! ;D ... That's not making you feel better, is it? Not really, but I get to remake them anyway, plus I get to make the third leg of the series. It'll be twice as good!
