I approve and DEFEND 'ships, and I encourage every shipper to write about what they like. Art, even if it fanfiction, should not be limited by Canon, but rather expanded as far as possible.
Other than that, I'll just say I agree with Naomi and Pengy.
Write as much as you like, or paint if you can, is the best you can do for the pairings you like, and make it good is the best way to prove it worthy and credible.

Kim/Ron!
it's OTP!
Basically if someone has kim or ron with somebody other than each other it is a Crack Fic.

I do not really try to write a story about a ship, I find that it gets in the way of the action. I will say that I'll add a small part of dialog about grabbing a movie and some eats or make a joke about how the date was ruined because of... well you get the point. So I will say that I am neutral on ships, and do like to read some just to find out how they will be made to work out.

I can get people when they like certain fictional relationships. If something tickles you pink, you can't help it. Whatever floats anyone's boat, go for it.
I always think there's more fun in discovering a pairing that's not thrown at you readily in the actual show. It's fun in taking what they give you and twirling it around with your imagination a little.
Although if it starts to take control of your life and how you perceive the world through the fact that your pairing is the only truth there is in life, to the point of an unhealthy obsession where it's mentioned in nearly everything you say and the point of emotional breakdown when something is ever said against it, then I think it might be time to take a few breaths and try to set it aside while you learn to take it back a couple notches and realize that it's not as important as you make it out to be.

Of course. It's a lot of fun when you find a new ship. And of course the off-beat ones that would never would have been seen in canon can be interesting.

I really have no opinion on ships one way or another. If someone wants to ship a particular pairing, that's their business. I personally don't think a ship should be the be all end all of any story. There's plenty more plots out there than two characters declaring their undying love for each other or the like.
What irks me, however, are those fans who refuse to look at any story unless it has the ship they like. I had someone leave a review for me at ff.nbet once where they "forgave" me for having a K/R pairing.
Excuse me?
I don't ship. I write K/R because I don't care to try to work out any other logic for other pairings. My stories have little to no romantic relevance because those are story elements I frankly don't give two shakes about. And it rritates me to no end when I'm told "Yeah, you had a good story, but when it became evident it was a K/R story, I stopped reading."
Shipping should NOT be the primary reason for reading or writing fics. Nor should it be a factor when deciding if you want to continue reading a story you like. If you want to express a preference for those type of stories, fine, but for crying out loud, don't assume that every writer out there is in fic writing to ship.
Likewise, if you really don't like the story you're reading, then sure, you're within your rights to stop reading. But, I really don't understand it when people will be enjoying a story and stop reading just because of some little throwaway line indicating Pairing X instead of Pairing Y is in effect, when it has no relevance on the plot. Quitting reading a story that you dont' enjoy I can understand, but doing it to a story that you DO enjoy because you don't like the pairing, frankly, baffles me.
Why limit yourself that way?

You know I been watchin' all the drama and I have to agree, "OTP's" ( or whatever you enjoy calling them) are the only way to go. Took me a while but I finally figured out the right one for me: I must say, she's a keeper in my book! HAHAHAHA

You like 'ships that are On/Over The Phone? OTP = One True Pairing Ah, I see. I grew up with OTP being 'on the phone' so whenever someone says OTP, it makes it hilariously not what they intended it to be.

Cutter rigs are nice, too. Though there are upper tonnage limits that they'll work with.
