Happy Monkey Fist Appreciation Day, everyone!
This year I decided to do some more art than last time. It's fun to see how I've improved a little since last year.
First of all, I've started a new fanfic which is a series of random one-shots about Monty and Amy. You can read the first five
here. This pic is based on my fanfic
Merry Christmas, Honey Bunny! and takes place right in the beginning when Monty wakes up and realises where he is. I had a lot of fun drawing this picture, but colouring it was pure pain.
After finishing that picture I realised that it's not really that much fun to illustrate my own fanfics. I had to find another theme for this day and I decided that instead of honouring only Monty, I could celebrate all of his fans. So, here you go. I drew some kind of picture for everyone who has been awesome to me in the Monty fandom over the past year.
The pictures are in the order in which I drew them. I know that some are more complex than others and that some are even series of pics. None of this indicates who is important to me or anything like that; sometimes I just got an idea that I felt deserved to be developed a bit further.
MF/Ron slash -- a bit questionable, but not graphic
This is for Li because she is the biggest Monty/Ron shipper I know and because there isn't enough fanart of this pairing. I put the picture behind a link because while it shows nothing outright dirty or graphic, it implies that something probably took place. I don't want to scar the people who don't like the pairing. Anyway, I am relatively happy with how this turned out.
I hope you like it, Li! Keep the Monty/Ron flag high!
This picture is for SpicyWeasel. Since she doesn't actively ship anything and has no fanfics, I had some trouble deciding what to draw for her. In the end I decided to ask her about it. She wished for character interaction with either Killigan, DNAmy or Senior.
In any case, Monty and Killigan are playing cricket and using the monkey ninjas as their teams, which of course works a bit too much in Monty's favour.
There are supposed to be eleven members in a cricket team, but there was no way I was going to draw twenty monkey ninjas here. The rest are off somewhere.
SpicyWeasel is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. She has been doing a great favour to every Monkey Fist fan with her brilliant art and insightful comments, but even more importantly, she's a great friend. It was about time that she receives a gift, even if it's just this small thing, instead of always being the one who gives something to others.
Kim has caught a monkey! This is for Lupa who brought the sexy to the MF fandom with her great art of Monty posing or being in interesting situations with various female characters from the series.
I drew her this pairing because it's her favourite. Back when I drew this, Lupa had just posted pics of Kim having been captured by Monty (I blatantly copied the design of Kim's clothes from her art), so I decided to turn the tables and let Kim be in charge. Don't worry; she won't hurt him. Much.
I had some trouble with this picture and I actually had to cut off their feet from it because I made stupid mistakes. It looks a bit weird because of that, but it would have looked even worse without the amputation.
Professional pilot -- nothing dirty; it's just a big picture
Oh, Monty. You have no idea what you've got yourself into. This picture is for Alemnesh. I had some trouble deciding what to draw for her, but then I remembered that she's a big Launchpad fan. Alemnesh always has nice comments to offer when someone posts fanart or screenshots, so she more than deserves a gift.
I was originally going to make Launchpad say something. Gemini Artemis offered the wonderful line "Don't worry, Mr. F! If it has wings, I can crash it!" when I asked for her advice, but in the end I decided that it would have just underlined the gag too much.
Special thanks must go to Gemini Artemis, not only for the great line suggestion but also for giving me feedback on the pic. She pointed out several errors that I wouldn't have noticed on my own. I had Launchpad drawn all wrong because I don't know him that well, but she brought my attention to some bits that needed more work. Thanks!
This picture is for LilyHellsing and shows Monty and his young apprentice Nukpana from Lily's
Monkey Love fanfiction series. This takes place quite early in the story (Monty doesn't have monkey hands and feet yet) and portrays the two of them training. This is not any particular scene from the story but rather just me playing with Lily's ideas. I drew this without looking at the fanfic at all because I somehow assumed that this is how it would go, but when I went to re-read the story, I realised that this didn't quite match Lily's fic. I hope she still likes this.
This is the first time that I'm relatively happy with how I've drawn Nukpana. Third time's the charm, I guess.
And ugh at having to draw MF as Monty Fiske. It's insanely difficult. :/ He looks just completely wrong and stiff to me.
LilyHellsing is a great writer who really knows how to play with words and create interesting OCs and plots. It's always a pleasant surprise to see that she has updated.
He groaned and raised his gaze…and then he froze, a horrible sense of dread spreading in his soul as he saw Ron Stoppable standing between Possible and him, a blue glow surrounding him – the Ultimate Monkey Master.
He was not surprised: far from it. He had recognized that power as soon as he had sensed it and he had known the truth for some weeks now – yet watching that insufferable buffoon standing in front of him, glowing with the power he had devoted his whole life to get and that he had accidentally handled to him in that same castle…God, it was such an awfully ironic joke of destiny that a part of him was tempted to just start laughing himself into hysteria. This picture is for Pengychan and it's based on her brilliant fanfic
Spirit of Snow which is my favourite Monkey Fist fanfic ever. I don't want to spoil it too much, but in this scene Monty sees for the first time with his own eyes that Ron has become the Ultimate Monkey Master. He already knew it, but it still hurts.
Ron's MMP glow could be better, but overall I'm happy with the result. Something in the pic bugs me, though. It's like it's too empty and missing something, but I guess it fits considering Monty's state of mind at this point of the story.
Pengychan is simply a wonderful writer whose humorous stories always make me laugh while her angsty stories touch me. No matter who the main character or what the topic is, she always makes her fics work. The fact that she has chosen to write so much about Monty is a real blessing to all of his fans.
She just laid her head upon his shoulder as the continued a sweet dance that swept her away from reality. Into a world that was theirs and theirs alone. Kim and Monty just kept into each other not caring or worrying about anything else. This night was theirs to enjoy and nothing was going to stop it. This picture is for Jessy and is based on her fanfic "Unexpected Common Ground" which is an AU that plays with the idea that Monty and Kim reached an understanding and fell for each other after the Cambodia scenes in Monkey Fist Strikes. It's rated M, so I can't link to it.
I actually tried to draw some random people in the background to make a crowd, but as you can see, they turned out to be deformed mutants. I would have liked to show Kim's face, but I had to pick a pose and decided that Monty was more important since this is the MFAD and all. He's wearing gloves because I assume he has monkey hands and feet in this story - it hasn't been adressed in the fic yet, I think.
And yeah, this pic has exactly the same curtain as Li's pic. I didn't actually realise that until it was done. Curtains are a good way to use space.
I think Jessy is a super awesome person and it's great that she decided to hang around the Monty fandom. We don't really have active Monty/Kim writers with us, so she has brought some great variety to our group.
Thanks to mixaj for giving me tips on this pic.
She trembled; would he leave her again? Why was she still blindfolded…? He seemed to feel her tremble against him, "It's alright........" he whispered again, keeping his hold on her.
"Please…Take it off" she whimpered. She tried to stop herself from shaking so much, but it was a lost cause, quite literally. She couldn’t help herself. This picture is for Vytina and is based on her fanfic "Right Kind of My Wrong". Again, M-rated stuff, so no link is possible. In the story Monty, Bates, Kim and Rufus get lost in the jungle and must learn to trust each other if they want to make it out. In the course of the story, Monty starts teaching Kim lessons about what it really means to use martial arts. This picture is from one of those scenes. Kim is supposed to be 18 here, but it doesn't really look like it because I made her wear her earlier mission outfit (don't like the new one, sorry) and the pose makes it hard to show that her hair is longer.
I really like Vytina's style and the way she handles the characters. As soon as I started making plans for MFAD, I knew I'd had to draw something based on her stuff.
One thing that bugs me about this pic is that there is an almost identical pose in canon (A Sitch in Time), which makes it look like I just copied it. I did use it as reference, but I wanted to make it look like I put at least something of my own into it.
Special thanks to mixaj for giving me feedback and correction suggestions on this pic.
Crossover with a manga/anime whose name the profanity filter won't let me spell part 1Crossover with a manga/anime whose name the profanity filter won't let me spell part 2 -- nothing dirty; just big pictures
This two-page comic is a crossover with the manga/anime Kuronacosuji. I drew it for Gemini Artemis who has been acting like a ninja in the Monty fandom. She doesn't really take part in anything and comments only occasionally, but she works behind the scenes by giving me advice on my fanfiction and fanart and by enduring my Monty fangirling. She's the first person I told about him when I got into KP and I she's been a great support throughout my time in the fandom. She's simply a wonderful friend.
She got me into this series, so I decided to show my gratitude by combining the two series. Unfortunately it turned out that the Kuro characters are impossible to draw, especially after a year that I've spent drawing only KP stuff. I did my best, but both Sebastian and Grell look like they went through a failed plastic surgery.
This is based on the basic idea that both Monty and Sebastian have someone whose romantic attention they find less than desirable.
Someone has interrupted Monty's reading, but he doesn't seem too upset.
This is for our good old Kobocha and shows her character Malory Evolent together with Monty. I'm not very good with other people's characters, but I think Malory turned out decent. I also had lots of fun with this pic in general and just looking at it makes me really happy for some reason.
I don't know Kobocha as well as I know the others, but she has certainly made an impression on me. She was one of the first KP artists whose work I ever saw and I just love everything she has done, even pics that don't feature Monty. She has a great, clear style and lots of good ideas. In addition to that, I consider her to be one of the "big" Monty fans who made the fandom what it is before I even knew that such a character existed.
Fluffy Monty/Ron slash, or is it? -- nothing dirty; big picture
This is for Sarah Ashley T. and shows her being a puppeteer and making Monty and Ron act as a couple for her enjoyment. I had tons of fun drawing this one, especially the first image.
This is probably my favourite of all the things I drew for this day. Heck, that pic might be my favourite Monty art I've ever done.
Drawing Sarah was the most difficult part since I suck at turning people into cartoon style. I hope she doesn't look too deformed here.
Sarah is perhaps the most iconic Monkey Fist fan in my mind. She was there pretty much from the beginning, she has contributed much with her great art and theories and she was one of the first people I talked to when I entered the fandom. Simply said, she's awesome and very important to the Monkey Fist circles.
Thanks to Gemini Artemis for her feedback on this one.
Difficult decision part 1Difficult decision part 2 -- just big pictures, nothing dirty
Let's take out the taco sauce because I doubt Monty will go for the second option.
This is for Donteatacowman who is a Zorpox fan. Despite that she doesn't adore Monty like the rest of us, she has taken part in many of our discussions and posted comments on our fanwork. I think she's valuable to us exactly because she's not one of Monty's biggest fans; she brings in an interesting perspective of someone who doesn't see the character as particularly special. I think that sort of views are important in every community.
I was running out of time when I drew this. My original plan was to just draw one picture of Monty and Zorpox in some kind of situation, but then the idea just grew and grew until it became this. At first I was going to show Amy wearing some sort of sexy lingerie, but then I remembered that this pic was for Donteatacowman, not perverts like me.
I have no idea why Zorpox is so hard to draw. I have had some experience with Ron, but Zorpox is just pure pain. It might be those numerous details all over him.
The monkey ninjas keep watch while Monty rests after an encounter with enemies, maybe Team Possible. This picture is for Jen Rock who has been doing a great job at reviewing many fanfics about Monty.
I wasn't really sure what to draw her since I haven't talked to her very much and she didn't reply to my message about whether she had any requests. Pengychan recalled that Jen Rock had said in a review that she liked Monty's interaction with the monkey ninjas, so I decided to try a picture like this. In a way it's a nice way to end this series of pics since the first image I posted last year also had Monty and the monkeys in the jungle at night.
I hope this pic isn't too dark. My monitor always makes everything very light, so my darker pics are sometimes hard for others to see.
