I wanted to let everyone know that I have booked my vacation for Disney from July 1st to the 8th. I will keep a or try to keep a daily update of this here on RS and also over at ACC, the main purpose for the trip to experience the Kim Possible adventure (Don’t tell my wife) and see what it is all about with a side trip of finding the characters of Kim and Ron (Without seeming to creepy) and get them on tape saying a catch phrase or two (and maybe steel a kiss from Kim, but on my last day) The family shall be joining me but my wife must leave on the 5th to return to work and get my eldest son ready to leave for collage. My trip just does not involve just Disney World, it is going to be over a month long adventure of crisscrossing the country and paying social calls on family, old army pals and members of this board.
My original plan was to stop in North Carolina and visit a member, and pay my respects to the burial site of Commander Argus, I have his address and will send a sympathy card to his wife and ask for the location of his grave. Plans do change so I must now do this on my return trip back up from Disney, my wife did not want to make the side trip. I can not blame her or get mad because she is not a Kim Possible fan or member of the board and does not call the people here friends as I do.
My east coast journey is set, and after leaving Charlotte I’ll hop onto RT. 40 west and do what the old saying was, “go west young man.” I’ll head straight for Tennessee for my next stop of seeing Nashville and then Memphis, from there down along RT-55 through Mississippi to New Orleans if time permits. Texas is the place we want to see so we will make up our minds in Memphis of whether or not to cancel New Orleans; doing so will change our Texas trip somewhat. If we go to New Orleans we will head directly to Houston afterwards and if not we’ll go from Memphis to Dallas instead. My 14 year old son (HAL-9000) has been bugging me about Texas to no end, wanting to make sure that we are going. I asked him what do you want to see in Texas, what landmark, historical site, what is it that you have to see. The answer amazed me, he said, “Nothing, I just want to get a good steak, some BBQ, a ten gallon hat and real cowboy boots.”
If we have kept to our timetable and we can I’d like to make it (to which I doubt) to Laredo for no more than the reason that you always hear the name in the old westerns, and if it was good enough for John Wayne then it is good enough for me. I will go then to Arizona then stop over in Tucson taking RT-10 to Phoenix to see my cousin and her kids before making it to the Grand Canyon. Of course after that you all know where I’ll be going after that, to the land of milk and honey, the sweetest place on the face of the Earth, a place where dreams come true, where a spiritual experience can wash over you and you can lose yourself, of course I talking about the one the only Las Vegas and I’ll drop half a G on 13 black. I know my 7 year old will like to see the strip and night and most likely so Will Hal-9000 (to bad he’s only 14) but he may be like me and want to have some real fun.
This is where as I call it my PNR (Point of no return) and I must make the major choice of going to California to pay my respects to RD and kiss his ring. I have talked to him about this and said that I’ll try to do this even if it means that I can spend no more half to a full hour with him, and a quick ride over to the Nick studios. If not I will head right to Portland Oregon for a family member then on my way home I have to visit an old Army buddy that lives in Washington (A real nut, GOD love him) and do some shooting. I told him about my trip and told me I have to come and see him cause he has some special targets he wants us to shoot at, this come from a guy that convinced to ask our Sgt to let us out using the catchphrase, “Mommy, can we go out and kill something tonight.” So when someone such as this invites you to shoot at the Vancouver pistol and riffle club then to have a round of Golf at the Royal Oaks you do not turn him down. This will really be the end of my trip and I’ll have to return home via Minnesota (and see some in-laws) then to Jefferson, Wisconsin to drop in on a childhood friend then take RT-90 then RT-80 may stop over night in Illinois or Ohio before I go home.
As I said I’ll try to keep a daily update if anyone is interested after my stay at Disney.

(And no guesses about my mental state either) If anyone has a sugestion as where to go or a place to visit that is along the way (Best place to eat, local events) let me know

Alaska?
I also like that you're going to Charlotte, NC. That's a really nice thing to do. I wish we could all sign that sympathy card.
Where in Texas will you guys be going to be in?
Also, while you're in Texas, you should get a meal or two at Whataburger. It's a fast food place born and raised here.

In Texas I want to go to Houston, but it all comes down to time. If I can fit in New Orleans then I will do it, but if not we’ll go from Memphis to Dallas instead. Memphis is my "making up my mind point" I only took 5 weeks of my allotted vacation time off and do not want to use more than that for Thas trip, I told my job that a sixth week should be held just in case. And thank you for the name of a place to eat, i'll make sure to get a bite there

Day Night One,
The tip to Disney and all points beyond has begun, with a late start on Sunday (8 pm) due to circumstances beyond my control (wife and kids) we have reached: Woodbridge, Virginia. We are crashing at a Quality Inn, and from what we have seen so far it seems a nice place (just to get some sleep for the night). In the morning after breakfast we are to head off to pay a visit to Colonial Williamsburg for a few hours for us to enjoy. I have been there before but the kids were young and do not remember it to well, this is for them to fill in the gaps. Well sleep calls to me right now so I will update later.

Hi Ashley, I'll post some pics as soon as I get to donwload them. Day Night Two: I have just cross the border of South Carolina, and am sitting in a Super 8 motel writing this. We did not wind up going to Colonial Williamsburg, but we instead went to Historic James Town, which was the first established English colony. It was a working town with cast members that play the parts of colonists and (Indians) Native Americans. It was a replica of the town and Indian village, also there were ships docked that we were told held seventy men and were so small you cannot imagine how they did not start throwing people overboard just to make room. The one part I enjoyed hearing about was the daily one gallon beer ration per person, it makes you wonder how they did not sail in circles. My youngest enjoyed it the most, they let him work on a canoe by scraping the bottom with an oyster shell. We had a chance to stop in Wilson, NC and ate at a Cracker barrel restaurant, this was a stop that I was suppose to meet a former RS member but had to change my plans because my wife decided to drive down to Florida instead of flying like I originally planed, for some reason she is of the mind set that we (and myself) are a bunch of nuts for liking a cartoon show. So I shall meet with him on my return before I head West toward Memphis and my trip across the country. I will post again when I get the chance, till then take care all.

Day Three:
We got a late start this morning and skipped breakfast and decided to wait and have a brunch, while still in S.C. we drove to a restaurant that served real southern food. You have to remember that the closest thing to southern food we northern’s get is Kentucky fried chicken. I had Fried catfish while one of my sons ordered some deep fried chicken. Well after lunch we drove into Georgia and I went in search of peaches, but could not find one but we also were not looking to hard although my wife had me pull over so she could do some shopping at an outlet center, and here is where we killed a few hours. There is one thing I do want to say, that as we were cruising down the road along Route 95 doing just a tad over ninety MPH and listening to the song “Turning Japanese” (such a happy song) by the Vapors, maybe it was the open road, maybe be it was a full belly, maybe it was the song, maybe it was all of the above, but a feeling came upon me of that all was right in the world at that very moment and I was at peace and enjoyed the ride. It has been getting hotter the closer we get to Florida, but it was okay cause it was not humid, well that ended today. The heat got to the point that it felt oppressive, we left NJ and the temp was high 70's / low 80's and to be hit with high 90's was something I was not ready for.
Night three:
Well we are in the town of Kissimmee right now and we are a day or really a night early and staying with my sister-in-law who is down here at the same time as us. These vacations were book with no knowledge of each other, so we will stay with her till we can check into the park tomorrow afternoon. We reached their condo about 11pm and have missed the down pour that lasted as we were told for hours that kept them out of the park.
Well, it starts for me and my kids in the morning and will get back to you that night. Till then take care.

Day four: DISNEY July 1st I will have to upload this part at a later date, for some reason; unlike all the other hotels I have been staying at that give free wireless internet Disney seems to wants to keep me lock up to a data wire and CHARGE ME $9.95 for twenty four hours of use. Ten bucks a day, come on. . . Up and about, took a drive through Kissimmee to see some sights and to find the post office to get a couple of sheets of post cards stamps. After a swim in the pool and a lunch we headed off to Disney to check in to our resort. We are now in a lovely room in the French Quarter, the place in nice and the people are so friendly. The old New Yorker in me is not used to this and it will take some getting use to, I am not saying that I’m a rude person but I grew up in New York and you just did not say hi, good morning or anything to a stranger without the chance of taking your life into your hands. On our first day here we went to Magic Kingdom and had a blast, I got to go onto the It’s a small world ride again; and still get a kick out of it. I thought it was suppose to have been redesigned but to tell the truth I did not see any difference. I have been looking for trading pins, they are everywhere and come in every size, shape and form. the Pixes pin are in great quantity, I have seen a Star Wars Stich (as Vader) among others from Lito and Stich but no Kim Possible pins as of yet. We got to see the parade both the day and night were they are covered in lights, and let me say that when these happen they are right you are in the happiest place on the face of the Earth. I had to rest for awhile as the wife and kids kept going on rides so I went to sit down and by chance landed in a good place to view the firework show, next time I’ll know where to go to get the castle in the background. I have been taking pictures and video to post but as you know it I cannot find the cable to download to the computer, I’ll have to check the car later. Day Five: DISNEY July 2nd Sunny as of now, and lounging out by the pool wearing my sunglasses (Morefood will get the reference ) and trying to work on my tan. After lunch today I’m going to try and go to Epcot and do the Kim Possible adventure. Got to Epcot and signed up for the KP adventure and had to wait two hours for the start of my mission, Kim is popular here (no bull) and lot of people do the missions. I was told by a KP team member (cast member) that they’re busiest from two till six pm and booked solid, so for any one looking to do these adventures while they are here should do them early. My first mission was broken down into three sub-missions, first was in England, second was in France and the third was in Mexico. The kiosks are easy to find and spread throughout the park, each are manned by team members that are in a uniform that is Kim Possible-ish (IMO they could have done a better job.) I have started pin trading more as a goof and something to do while here, I bought a starter set for thirty dollars and pinned them to a lanyard. I went in search of Kim Possible pins to buy but there are none to find anywhere; even in Epcot where her adventure is running, I asked cast members in the pin huts and souvenir shops when will they be making any and was told that there are no plans at the present. I brought up the fact that she has an adventure running rand at least the kiosks should carry something. I have been able to trade for two Kim Possible pins and they were hard to get, I had to chase down the cast members who had them and I could tell that they really did not want to give them up. Cast members at the shops do not have them or any of the people that you see around a lot, but the ones that you really do not see; like the service workers, they are the ones with the harder to find pins like the Kim Possible ones. So far I have a Rufus with a hidden Mickey on it and a Kim as a cheerleader saying “She can do anything,” for me now the hunt is on for more of them. When I went to sign up for my mission a team member saw them and she began to squeal with delight and came up to me and touched each one and told me how lucky I was to have one. Ate with the princesses to the much chagrin of my son, but hey they came to the table to talk with us and take pictures. Am so tired right now it is hard to even describe it, good night. Day six: Disney: July 3rd Back to Epcot and for another mission. Afterwards we had dinner at the Beer Gardens and got to watch a fun show filled with much music and yodeling. When on a few rides but many were breaking down from the heat, oh let me tell you about the heat, my GOD is it hot today, there is no relief from it, am drinking water like a fish and sweating it out just as fast as I am putting it in. Took a ride from Epoct to Magic Kingdom to watch the fireworks, even though it is the third of July they’re putting on the same show as tomorrow, WHAT A SHOW IT WAS. Day Seven: Disney: Independence day, The fourth of July:Started the day going to Typhon Lagoon, a water park that has what they called Castaway creek, this is a continuous running creek that circles the entire park. You get yourself an inner-tube and just lazily float for as long as you wish. The main attraction is the tidal pool that every few minutes that forces a six foot wave that threw my kids for a loop, they were having a blast even when the skies opened up and it started pouring. I was a heavy rain; like I remembered while I was in the army, it only seemed to rain like that when we were out in the field. We did not mind the rain (hey we’re in a water park) and stayed for another hour or so till the thunder began to roll in and they closed the park down for safety. After we changed into dry clothes we when to the park for supper and the firework show. I want to tell you that I have seen bigger shows (Macy’s NYC) but none better then how Disney presented. This night was the latest we stayed in the park and was shocked to see how late the party goes on for. One other thing is as the families go home or back to their hotels the crazies come out, turns more into a collage age and adult crowd that starts to party and get down (if I was not married and twenty years younger is all that I will say about this). Day eight: Disney: July 5thWoke up to the news that a man was killed here on the monorail and later found out that it was the driver and it happened around two am. Started the day at M.K. (Magic Kingdom) and made our way over to Hollywood studios for dinner, we ate at the Sci-Fi diner, this was setup like a drive-in theater where we sat in cars while we ate and watched a montage of cheesy 1950's movies (what was so sad about them was they were the ones I watched as a kid and liked) and cartoons. Day nine: Disney: July 6thWhat can I tell you about today, today by far was a disappointment. The weather was okay, and the heat was tolerable but the kids are running out of steam. Today we went to M.K. to have dinner and hit a couple of rides, mostly spent it at Tomorrowland going on the Buzz Lightyear and Stich (no Lilo to be found anywhere) rides. Stich is everywhere in this park, and from (IMO) a show that had no redeemable value, the only thing that I can see is that “Stich” fits the Disney image and target demographics of little eight year olds. Because that is what the ages of the kids seemed to be on all the rides there. The family and I had dinner at the Crystal Palace, we had an early reservation (4:40pm) for the place. When I booked the place, it was what was recommended to me by the woman on the phone when I called. I just want to say that I’m glad that I had a eight year old child with me and that is saying it loosely, it was a meet the character restaurant and it was for Pooh and the gang. The place was filled with four and five year olds, if I had known I would not have picked the place, but all was not lost I at least got to get a picture of myself with (Ahem) Tigger. After dinner we had to go to the first aid station for my older son (HAL-9000) to get him a “Powerade and an aspirin, I think the heat is getting to him so we came back to the room to let him rest in the airconditioned room. I got one day left here, and still no sign of Kim. . . Just went to the hotels shop to get some Tums and Alka-Seltzer for Andrew, and while at the register I did some pin trading for a secret mickey pin. I began talking to the cast members about how I just started this for while I was down here and that it was way bigger than I ever thought it was. We compared it to beanie-babies and that was when he told me that these pins bring in for Disney a third of all money made by the company, it’s a billion (with a B) business. There is one downside to pin trading or upside depending how much of a perv you are, when you go to trade with a female cast member you get to stare at her chest while you pretend to look at her lanyard. Day ten: Disney: July 7th (my sons birthday)Before I start; I want to tell you all about something I saw today while waiting in line to visit with some characters in Epcot. I was at the character spot and had to wait for almost two hours to see Mickey, Pluto, Minny, Donald and Goofy, but it was worth the wait to make my son happy and to be able to see what I saw happen here today. My son was next in line to see Mickey after this very long wait and before we were to be called a Cast Member came through and to the handler (for lack of a better word) of Mickey and told her something; which she then whispered into the ear of Mickey, she then came over to me and said that we had to wait because a priority was coming. At first I thought she meant some VIP”s snot nosed kid was going to cut the line and that we the peons had to wait, but I was wrong and ashamed to have had hard feelings when I saw who it was that they brought to the front of the line. There before me was a little girl who looked to be no more than three or four years old in a wheelchair that had a red tag on the chair that I could not get a close look at but got enough from it to know it meant that this girl was very ill. I watched as they wheeled the chair up to Micky, the mother went to lift the girl but she got up on unsteady legs that wobbled under her own weight, she was so frail; she looked to be no more than thirty pounds, a girl of skin and bones but she was going to see MICKEY and do it on her own. The smile that was on her face will be something that I will remember for the rest of my life, the image of her standing there in front of Mickey as her mother held her up upright with her legs shaking as she was waiting to hug the mouse who seemed to know how to handle such an event as this amazed me and I found myself hard pressed to hold back tears, in fact my eyes are welling up with tears as I write this. I am so glad that my son and I had the privilege to have witnessed the joy that girl found today. Now back to what happened today, I was able to go on another KP adventure today and this time I went to Norway and Japan. When I signed up for the mission today, I got the chance to talk to the cast members running the show. I asked simple questions about the show to which they knew the answers, but then I hit them with a “where and what time will Kim and Ron show up in the park” question to which the answer I received was that they where busy taking there entrance exams for collage. I made a point of telling him that maybe Kim is doing that or getting ready for collage but that he should say that Ron is still waiting by the mail box for his acceptance letter because the show ended that way with out him getting his letter. We had the chance to talk about the show for a good fifteen minutes or so before he had to go back to work. He told me of his own KP collection and how he also could not understand why Kim is not marketed in the parks better, he states that a lot of people ask where they can buy some souvenirs and has been bring this up with his own boss. I will say that marketing has dropped the ball here, the adventure brings you into and through all the small shops in the country you’re playing the game in, and in those stores they should have something to but that ties in with the show. I had an idea that I sent to Disney before I knew that they did not take unsolicited ideas, but I can say them here, I would sell snow-globes that have a theme for each country you’re in. Have a Kim Possible with the Bebe’s for the Japan mission and so on for each country, and if by any chance that people from Disney are for the unlikely chance of reading this I give away any rights to this idea so Disney may freely use it, well (cough) maybe they could (cough, cough) send me one globe of each (wink) mission that make as a finders (wink, wink, cough) fee. Well I did the Japan mission and this one involved the Bebe’s and the Bebe baby (by chance I was writing a fanfic along these lines) and how it went haywire and need to have its balance restored by us (team possible.) I got to see the Bebe baby, and what a frightening sight it was, but as Killer Bebe I want one (come to daddy my precious little one, did the mean old red headed girl hurt you). As a side note, Japan was (for some reason) the mission that I found myself rooting for the Bebe’s. That was about it for the day, besides the heavy down pour that stopped anymore missions for the day. We went back to M.K. to celebrate my sons birthday, just to let you know Disney gave him the choice of a seventy five dollar gift card or a birthday fastpass, I will not tell you which one he picked, but remember he is noe a fifteen year old. Day eleven: Disney: July 8thToday is our last day at Disney, we checked out of our hotel and headed straight for the park for a few hours of fun and games before we resumed our journey westward. I let the kids run wild and I went on another Kim Possible adventure, and I had to do the one for Japan once more. I went to the kiosk and told them that I had to do it over because I liked it so much, I got a strange look by they obliged me when I told them that I am “Killer Bebe”. They overrode the system for me and jumped me right to it. This time around I noticed that the adventure did not play the same way and this caught me by surprise, this is a nice gesture on Disney’s part to help keep the game somewhat fresh for people who play the game multiple times. Well we got rained out of the park (the Bebe baby must still be controlling the weather), but it was time for us to leave anyway. On the way now to: New Orleans. Were taking route 10 all the way and I wanted to tell anyone who has to take this road that they have to stop into the Red Onion Grill by highway 255 in Lee, FLA. Cause if you do you have to order the chilli, it was the best that I have had in a long time. This place is attached to a gas station and truck stop but do not let that fool you. Well I am now writing this while in a Comfort Inn in the town of Pensacola, FLA. Which is about 220 miles from New Orleans and that bowl of Gumbo and bucket of Crawfish I’ve been looking forward to eating. Well it is time for bed now.

It was Ashley, it was the best.
Day twelve: New Orleans (The Big Easy) July 9th
After we woke up I had to spend over an hour looking for a place that would change my oil and rotate the tires on the car with out a wait of more than two hours, I’ll tell you most of the places are understaffed due to the down turn in the economy.
Made it to New Orleans, and I want to tell you that it is everything that people say it is. We pulled into the French Quarter in the early afternoon, and found a lot to park in, and then went for a walk. The first thing that I noticed was the smell, I’m not saying it was offensive but it was a smell of a city and reminded me of New York. This was a good thing and made my stay feel better so at first I did not mind the heat, if fact I must be getting used to it cause I was comfortable. The people here are very friendly and as soon as I looked lost a gentleman who was sweeping the street came up and ask if he could be of assistance, taking him up on his offer; I just told him I was looking for the best Gumbo in the city. He took a good look at me and said that there wasn’t enough Gumbo in the city to fill my stomach, so I shot back with a “look whose talking, after a good laugh he walked us over to a restaurant named Oliviers Creole restaurant. I thanked the man and told he to sit and have a lunch with us, at first he refused but then changed his mind. I had my bowl of Gumbo and I loved it, the food there was good and was priced well. The waiters were friendly and answered all my touristy questions of where to go and what to see, told them what my plans where and how we were going to go to Bourbon St. First; to which he replied the kids will just love that, he than said not to keep them out after nine or ten at night cause the place changes to where it is (a nice way to say it) more for adults only. After our walk there we then went to the Garden District, let me tell you that this was a lovely place to walk and see all the beautiful homes.
I will say this that there are two side to this place and you will get out of it what you want, if you want the seedy side it is here and if you want the romantic side it is also here, we always talk about where Kim should go on her honeymoon; well I would take her here where one can take a leisurely stroll down a lazy street without a care in the world.
After we left I made my way close to the Texas border and am now staying in the town of Sulphur, yes it is a strange name for a town. Well I will say goodnight for now cause we will be getting up early and heading to Corpus Christi and with any hope be able to meet with Ashley.

Day thirteen, Deep in the heart of Texas:We crossed over into Texas and the first thing with all did was give a shout of Yee Haw, then pulled into the visitors center and picked up just about every map and pamphlet that I could take. I have never realized just how big Texas is, and how long it will take to see the sites and cross it. Well after much site seeing my son got word that his friends are in Vegas so he made me cut short are trip here so he could stand on the strip with them, I believe that his friends farther is there for a UFC match. This family is big into Brazilian Jujitsu being that the style he fights in carries his last name, Gracie. We were flying up Route 287N to the I 40 corridor and watched with amazement as the cars outside temp gauge started to rise till it peaked out at 111(F), prior to this the hottest I have ever been in was 105 (F) while in Tucson. As we were on 287 driving at night my son all of a sudden said look at all of the stars, I had to pull over to see what the fuss was all about and was amazed by the magnitude of how many there were. Being a city boy and all, we then not to look up that much at night cause maybe you can only see fifty to a hundred stars at night due to the bright lights cast from the city. I finally was able to point out the milky swath of stars of the Milky Way and explained to them what it was. Pic of temp for those who do not believe me, Disney My younger son posing by the KP mailbox while on the Great Britain adventure Spoiler, do not click if you want to see the Bebe baby. img189.imageshack.us/img189/5362/52175149.jpg

Ashely I envy you and the view of the stars you get, if only I could see it like that every night. Day fourteen, Going west It is so hot that one can not believe it, even with the AC going full blast it is still warm in the car. I have to say one thing that at night it get cold, or what passes for cold now to us. I am finding that we are getting used to this more and more with each passing day that we now joke that when we get back to Jersey 85 / 90 will be down right chilly for us and we may have to put on a sweater. We left Texas and went into New Mexico, we were not going to stop for anything cause as I thought, “what’s here to see.” Well I was wrong, there is a lot to see here but not enough time to see it. We went to a Dinosaur museum, went to some scenic sites, rode Parts of Route 66, went to Albuquerque for no more reason than because it was a joke in some old Bugs bunny cartoons. Drove till I could drive no more, which was Flagstaff, Arizona. Day fifteen, Hover Dam and Vegas. I went to Hoover Dam and rode most of the way in bumper to bumper traffic all the way to a security check point where I met a cop the used to live in Jersey (it’s nice to hear someone without a strange accent,) the dam was nice to look at and we took some pictures. I am now in SIN CITY and I expect to act no different as I always do at home (so you know that I will be sinning a lot here, and I will live by Vegas’s eleventh commandment of what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Just as a side note the eleventh commandment where I work is “Thou shalt not RAT.” I am staying at The Plaza in the penthouse room 2502 for anyone that wants to call so I can place a bet for them (if your bet wins I will take the Vig from it). Day sixteen: Vegas: the kids and I are still tearing up Vegas, I got the kids do mostly kids things while (ahem) I’m doing the mostly adult things. (Does that sound as dirty to you as it does to me) I am going to tell you that if you come here with dieting on your mind, fugetaboutit, when ordering yo have to remember that in some places the portion of food is up to triple what a normal meal will be in your home town, and that the food is top notch. well back to gambling for now and some more fun then going to catch a show tonight with the kids. Some more pics from last night. Later the same day: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, it’s FRANKIE, I took my kids to see a show called, The rat Pack is back. It’s a show about the time The Rat Pack was performing at the Sands, it was the most UN-PC show that I have seen in a long time and I loved it. They had the songs that the singers made famous and the humor and jokes were tongue-in-cheek and a somewhat blue. I would like to repeat some of them here but some of them revolve around dwarfs, women, sex and race; and that was just one joke. Well the kids are in bed and I’m ready to go, go out onto the strip that is and run amok once more, after all who knows when I’ll pass this way again. I will be on my way to LA by tomorrow afternoon and hope to get there before midnight, cause it will then be on to meeting with Dave, Red, Tony and perhaps Bob and Mark.

Ashely, I have to say that I really do miss the times went a joke was just that; a joke and nothing more, before the PC police got their hands into everthing.
Day seventeen: Killer Bebe makes it to California and meets Dave.
We left Vegas late after a large breakfast and some last minuet gambling and another loss, well it goes to show you that if it wasn’t for bad luck I’d have no luck at all. I’d rather say unlucky at cards but lucky at love but this to would be a lie.
The ride along Route 15 was pleasant and to say just that is an understatement, I find that the desert is such a place of peace and tranquillity that I found myself beginning to fall asleep behind the wheel. Do not get me wrong; cause where I come from there is beauty in the gray scale in the streets of NY, but out here I feel as though I am a different person, while driving on the roads here I do not find myself thinking about reaching down the throat of some mook and ripping their lungs out. I do not want to imply or make you think that I am a violent man but in NY you grow up a certain way just as a survival mechanism for city living. While driving through the Mojave Desert the old song called “The Wave” kept coming to mind and I just for a moment thought to myself that if I did not have the kids here with me I might have pulled over and went for a walk till I found myself.
It has happened, I have met Dave. The two of us have been touching base throughout the day keeping track of my progress along the way. I want to thank him for all he has done for me and my family, from giving me precise directions along the way to even searching for and booking me a room in a lovely hotel, Dave thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Dave told me to call him once we were checked into our room and settled so that he may come over and take us out to dinner some site seeing. He arrived at our room and we exchanged backbreaking bearhugs and pleasantries after which he brought us to a restaurant Called Norms that has been opened since the late 40's or early 50's that had a good meal and the best strawberry shortcake that I (honestly) ever had (and I am a man who loves his SSC). After dinner and a quick tour we were going to head to the Glendale Observatory for as we were told a view that could not be beat, that was till I received a call from Red telling us that Tony was over his house, at which point we immediately headed to his home.
I want to thank Red for opening his home to me and my kids and for Tony to make the trip to meet with me also. Red has a beautiful home that is fill with wonderful items that I can only describe as amazing, the history contained within and stories that his home can tell are to great for me to even try and describe here; for I can not even begin to give it the justice they deserve. My younger son had a field day there and I was so worried that he’d break something but again I had to say that Red is a gracious host and let my son feel free in his home and answered his many questions and let him play with some of what was in the home. Red even got a kick out of my son making shadow puppets on the wall for him. Tony and I got to sit down and chew the rag for awhile before we all got together in the living room and had a talk of life, the universe and everything and of course Kim Possible.
I wish that we could have stayed longer, but a good guest know when it is time to leave. The kids and I are still on NY time and they were sleepy and Dave will be picking us up in the morning to give us a tour of his town and to bring me to one place that I must goto, the Hollywood cemetery so that I may leave a single rose by the burial vault of Darla Hood who was my first real crush.

Day eighteen: Disneyland Note: I forgot to add to day seventeen that Dave brought us to the old Kim Possible studio to let us see where the magic was made, the building now houses the new Tigger and Pooh cartoon and some other show that slips my mind at this time.. Today started with a call from Red saying that Dave could not meet us because his back was hurting (sorry that we put you through the ringer Dave) so Red was our host for the day at what a gracious host he was. I drove to his house to pick him so that he could take us to Disneyland but before we did this I had to look through his wonderful once more and check out the “Guardians.” the ride to Disney was pleasant and Red and I chewed the rag all the way there, his humor and mine are on the same level so we had a laugh riot all the way. As we reached we pulled into the parking garage and since Red holds an annual pass we got to park for free and in the lower level, when we entered the park my older son (HAL-9000) went to Adventure land to ride the coasters while Red, myself and my youngest son stayed in Disney. I do have to say that Red now this park and its history which I found very interesting, he pointed out hidden features that will remain in my confidence. We went on many of the rides and where able to bypass the lines, which was great since our time was limited in the park. The first ride was on the Matterhorn that was followed by the Star Wars ride that my youngest was never on so it was a blast to be able to do this with him and enjoyed it so much when he told me he loved it. The next ride was “It’s a small world” which even though we rode in Disney FLA. I had to ride it here cause I wanted to see the changes that where made to this ride, I was worried because I am a purest and hated the idea that they wanted to upgrade the ride by adding characters as a commercial tie-in but I need not have worried; they did it extremely well. After a short break we saw some of the sites around the park and the one I liked the best (besides the girls) was the garden with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (sorry that’s un PC of me, Seven little persons) where every few minuets S.W. wound begin to sing her song “I’m Wishing” that you would then hear the echo coming from the wishing well where of course I made a wish for. . . nope ain’t gonna say it cause then it won’t come true (but if you can guess it I’ll send you a packet of Coco Moo mix.) now there was one ride in the park that my son really, really wanted to go on more than anything else and he didn’t have the chance to do it in FLA. Cause the ride was shut down for repair. He wanted to go on this so bad but I was telling him no because I was at this time not feeling well and did not want to blow chunks all over the ride or some poor clown standing to close to me. I have to thank Red once again for saving the day by volunteering to chaperon on SPACE MOUNTAIN, this was all my son would talk about. We ran around the park some more trying to do some pin trading and then before we left we let ourselves to be shrunk down to pixie size and meet with Tink, who was as cute as a button (and very shapely if I’m allowed to take notice) and got a picture taking with her. Due to the hour we had to leave and meet up with Tony who had to work so that he was unable to come to the park with us (next time Tony and we’ll have even more laughs) we met him for Naco’s at a local restaurant that not over served you dinner but provided you with a floor show (why is there never a vat of Jello or mud around when you need one?) After dinner Tony was able to show me his KP collection and all the items that he had and found what he had and Reds most impressive, at the end of the evening Tony presented me with a golden box that when I opened it contained four Kim Possible pins including the KP pin from Paris, I was floored that I would be giving such a rear gift as these. After saying my goodbyes to Tony and telling him when you’re ever in New York I took Red back home and told him the same and thanked him again for his kindness of taking us all over town. On my ride back to the hotel I got the itch to see something we all hear about and have seen in the movies, I set my GPS for (drumroll please) the intersection of Hollywood and Vine. What a place this is after midnight, it was filled with all assortments of people (freaks, nut jobs, loonies and the beautiful people) that I felt at home and as if I always belonged here. We checked out the walk of fame and saw where a shrine to Michael Jackson was set up by his star and all the girls crying while dressed so scantily, if my kids were not with me (man-O-man.) From there it was onto the sunset strip for a couple of runs and then into Beverly Hills for a night time cruise, and on the way back it was onto Melrose then back to the strip then over to Hollywood Boulevard then home and some much need sleep. Day nineteen: We leave California: We went over to Dave’s house to meet with his wife and for some coffee and conversation before we leave the State and continue or adventure. At Dave’s place we got to meet the cats and what a friendly bunch they were, my youngest kept bothering them and kept trying to give one a treat. We went and had a sit down in the back and had some coffee and shot the breeze for a bit but like every thing else in life time was short and I had to make a 467 mile trip into Arizona to get to a hotel by the Grand Canyon that Dave searched for hours to find and then booked for us. Hollywood cemetery: One of the places that we had to go to was the Hollywood cemetery and pay my respects to Darla Hood, when we got there we found out that they were filming a movie there so we got to see how they set up the place for a scene. After a stop to the gift shop for some roses and a map we first went to Darla’s crypt where and sang her famous song from the show “I’m in the mood for love” to her, I placed a red rose for her since she was at the very top it was very hard to get the rose up there and she had to share the vase on the crypt next to hers that was also named Hood. From there we went in search of Alfalfa and found him outside not to far from his love, here there was a potted plant that was left for him that was just starting to dry and was in great need of watering so I took some of my bottled water and gave it a soaking, I then had my son leave a white rose on his grave and took a photo. Next we went to Mel Blanc’s and did the same leaving a single white rose, here we also found a larger assortment of flowers and tiny trinkets left for him. I wish I had more time because they’re so many stars that have meaning for me buried here that I wish I could have left a flower for each of them. Alfalfa Darla’s crypt The road back through the desert and getting ripped off for gas while still in CA, I mean they jacked the price up to $3.59 for a gallon of gas, I mean what happened, did they drop a nuke somewhere and I didn’t know about it? I reach the hotel in Williams, AZ and check in and just went to sleep. Day Twenty: The Grand Canyon and beyond: The kids took a swim today and then we went to lunch on Route 66 at a place called “Cruiser’s Cara 66" an old roadside BBQ place that had some good food and of course; some not so good food but the place was filled with the feel of the old RT-66. We took a drive along the 64 to the Grand Canyon, when we reached the place we had to park along the side of the road and walk through some woods that obscured he canyon from view so that when you broke through the view hit you, and let me describe the view to you if I can, “the grandeur of it all.” They’re other words that I can try to use to give it justice, I can try and say breathtaking, awe-inspiring, magnificent but nothing will compare to when you actually see if for yourself and for those who have understand what I am saying. For those who pass through this part of the woods and do not make a trip to see this, this site, are doing themselves a disservice. We then came back down to 64 and took it east to 89 and had a chance to stop along the way at small stops to get different views of the canyon and some more photos of the kids. We then drove through the painted desert and monument park and Dave was right these places where also a breathtaking site to see, I could never have imaging such beauty existing, and to have the chance to see it with my own eyes. Seeing a picture or on TV or in a movie is nothing to being there. We were going to go to Meteor crater but ran out of time because we stayed at the canyon for longer than I planed to. We’ll do it tomorrow before we leave to go back to Nevada and pay a visit to a small town named, Searchlight, why you ask that I will go hundreds of miles out of my way to see this town? All I tell you that it is something from Marvel Comics that is so obscure and is an injoke amongst my friends from our youth that I have to be the first of us to go there. Well till tomorrow then. . . Grand canyon Grand canyon w/ kids Day Twenty One: The day started off with some auto maintenance with a quick oil change then back on the road to see “Name” and tour Tuscan and some sites. Before my turn Southward I went to Meteor crater, and let me tell you that this thing is hugh and deep, but after the Grand Canyon. . . what can I say. I’ll tell you the you should see the crater first then go to the Canyon. The trip to Tuscan was long, hot and uneventful, but we did hit a dust storm around Phoenix that blotted out the sun for awhile, had a down pour that lasted for five minutes or so, got questioned by the cops a few exits before Tuscan for filming lightning over a mountain and they ran a warrant search on me (oh joy and fun) but all came back as clean so I will still be able to make it to Vancouver and not spend the rest of my vacation in a jail. I am sitting in a Super 8 motel right now writing this on West Grand street room 112 for any one that wants to call or stop on by and say high, but now I’m about to go out for a supper with the kids. Day Twenty two: Got up in Tucson and found that the temp was 109 for most of the day, I got to talk with “Name” and told her what I had planed for the day. She told me to change the line up of what my plans were, I was going to go to Old Tucson in the morning but she said to visit the zoo first, hit the mall then go to Old Tucson later in the day. The zoo here is a nice place with many walk ways and a large variety of animals, what I liked was that for your kid you can get a key that fits boxes around the park that tells you about each exhibit. The one thing that I really liked about this zoo was the way the paths lead to secluded little spots that you can bring your best girl if you want to steal a kiss, it’s a nice date place. From the zoo we hit the mall for some shopping and a bite to eat, I got a few shirts from Hot Topic and a wallet. As we were leaving to go to Old Tucson it began to rain and let me tell you that it rained hard, some of the road were closed down and we had to wait to go to the movie town. The road that we took was just like some of the ones from Colorado where there were no guard rails and a drop off the road that’ll kill you, after a road such as this to O.T. we found the place closed. After taking the long way around so I did not have to take that road again we went to a local favorite of “Name’s” called Eegee’s, I like the place and had the turkey sub with fries and a watermelon slushy that was great. Well back to the room for some sleep and an early start in the morning. Day Twenty three: Well we did not get the early start to the day that I wanted cause the hotel forgot to give us the wake up call I requested. As we were getting ready to go to O.T. I got a call from “Name” saying that she’d like to meet with us at the coffee shop at a Barns and Noble book store. I had a great time talking with her and having a cup of coffee, I was able to give her a shirt I got for from Disney of one of her favorite character; what was fun was I sent her a pic of my son posing with the same character. After some time had passed we had to say our goodbyes and part ways so we could go to O.T., we got there and got to watch a stunt and gunfight show before they had a blackout and had to close the park. We went back into Tucson for a sushi dinner then a swim in the pool to cool down. I’m in the room now packing for check out and to take a tour of Tombstone before we leave for Vancouver, WA and for some fun and shooting of some guns. . . well a whole mess of guns at some special targets I’ve been waiting to get my sites on. It’s like I said before, my old army buddy is a nut or I can say as much as a nut as my some we figure on shooting the town up somewhat.
