I don't think Disney would interfere with the Marvel business practices too much; it's just to use and reap the rewards of Marvel's resources.
Although there is the chance of a Titanic 2.0 occuring, there's also the chance this could make things alot better for all four parties; Disney, Marvel and both their respective fan bases.

You might want to check out this link: captaincomics.ning.com/profiles/blogs/column-what-disneymarvel-willIn essence, Disney will honor ongoing contracts concerning movie rights of Marvel characters, but once said rights expire, they will not be renewed. The same can be said about “Marvel Super Hero Island” at the Universal Studios Orlando theme park, which will continue as is until Universal's contract with Marvel expires.

Holy crud, you mean this'd put a potential crunch on any sequels/additional superhero movies coming out? This might be a second Titanic after all...

Well, as usual when it comes to Disney, looks like I'm in the minority here, but I don't think this sounds nearly as bad as it apparently does to the rest of you. I mean, I kinda wondered if they were going to go this route eventually, given that old Marvel cartoons had been shown on Disney XD (and Toon Disney before that) from time to time. To be perfectly honest, I don't think that it will affect much in terms of either company's policy. Though the theme park aficionado in me did wonder this almost instantly: now that Disney has bought out Marvel, I wonder what this means for, say, Universal Studios and their Marvel-themed rides. It's no secret that the Universal parks and Disney parks in Florida and California are in close competition with each other... if Disney decides to play the 'we own this now lolz' card, Universal Studios' parks (especially Islands of Adventure) could have a bit of a predicament on their hands. ...yeah, all and all, this is a very curious move. I understand why they did it, of course, and I think it has the potential to benefit both the Disney and Marvel worlds (video game crossover ala Kingdom Hearts, anyone?), but it also could go pretty wrong. I'm intrigued, though. Definitely intrigued. Why did they do it? IMO it's because Disney has such a hard time attracting the male demographic. Absorbing a guy-centric entertainment company like Marvel was apparently the only way to achieve that.

An out of date company who's strategy is to crank out sequels and remakes to dead franchises is buying a company who's strategy is to also crank out sequels and remakes of dead franchises? What could possibly go wrong! Since when does Marvel do that?

Jean Possible and Scott Stoppable Hmm. Kim as a psychotic uber-telepath who keeps dying and comming back? And who would be Wolverine? Josh? I've realized that this is probably a good thing. If only because it makes the long fantasized Marvel Vs. Disney video game that much closer to reality. IMAGINE IT! (disney's) Beast Vs. Wolverine Peter Pan Vs. Spiderman Jafar Vs. Dr. Doom Areil Vs. The Submariner (Disney's)Hercules Vs. Thor Mickey Mouse Vs. The Juggernaught Minnie Mouse Vs. Storm Mufasa Vs. every living thing in sight! Kim Possible Vs. Black Widow Shego vs. Selene Mr. Incredible vs. Captain America Violet vs. Invisible Woman Roger Rabbit vs. Howard The Duck Mrs. Incredible (Helen Parr) vr. Mr. Fantastic

Oh God, I don't know if I should wet myself in fear or laughter at those suggestions.
The scary thing is, if some ditz at Disney marketing actually sees that post, there's a chance they'd actually do it!

Hm, I hope the movie contracts don't expire before the Avengers movie. Also, I really hope Disney for the most part stays out of the creative processes in any Marvel adaptation. I don't want Spiderman (movies, comics, or otherwise) to go down like Power Rangers did.
Sooooooooooooo, how many characters do you think they can fit into the inevitable crossover fighting game?
