My rat Cutie suddenly died today. She wasn't even full grown yet, barely older than a baby. I was watching her run on her wheel... Then she saw me and ran to the corner of her cage (because she's always been afraid of people). I noticed her foot was still up on the wheel so I helped move it down for her, yet she had no reaction to me. Then I noticed she wasn't moving or breathing. She had just suddenly and instantly died. Must have been a heart attack. I don't know. Poor thing was only a few months old. Lily will be sad when she gets home from school and I tell her. Rest in Peace Cutie... recent photo of Cutie Cutie as a small baby when I first bought her

Sorry to hear about Cutie, if I may ask how old she was?

Sorry to hear about Cutie, if I may ask how old she was? Only about 4 months old. It was strange that she died so young.

Never having a pet such as this I have to ask if there was a special diet or it is no more than they eat anything? If you got her from a pet store, did you inform them of her passing so soon after you got her? I’m reminded of the puppy mills where they would breed dogs so fast that genetic problems occurred and they had health issues.

Sorry for your loss. I had two pet rats and they both died a painful death. It's so sad when things like this happen.

Just 4 months, that's really young even for a rat. I'm sorry for your loss.
