*Dismissive wave* You don't scare me.

Does that actually scare anyone these days? Really, when was the last time that worked?

I've yet to really go all out, but you are testing me.

No, I'm testing them. You just sort of... wandered in.

Oh, so you're trying to steal my shtick?

What? No. FIrst, it's not yours, you stole it. Second, that's not what I'm doing.

You're still testing people in games of death.

If they fail, sure. Your stuff is "Torture yourself or die!"

I don't make them torture themselves. I make themselves rediscover the edge to survive that the pathetic mortals of this era have lost.

Yeah? I don't recall bear traps being around in pre-Roman Egypt.

...I mean, I could do very basic games, if you want, the effect is the same. Sandstone blocks held up by rope and a a carefully wound winch, advancing carpet of fire, dried mud floor above a pit of spikes in the rain...

Don't recall those being traps used by the pre-Roman Egyptians either. Those aren't "edge to survive" survival skills, those are "I want to torture someone because I saw a guy do it in a movie. If you're going to try to be moral about it, at least be consistent.

No, but the technology for those things was around then. Regardless, it IS the edge to survive. The caveman never killed the mammoth without shedding his own flesh and blood. But making hungry people kill monsters for food isn't fair, given the lack of skills of this pathetic grocery store world. So, I put life on the line instead.

And in so doing, you fail to do the one thing you claim to be doing with your game! Further, the situations you're claiming to emulate are ones people had the choice to not enter into to begin with.

My test subjects had the choice to not do what I'm testing them for. I see people throwing their lives away in the name of their sins. I help them be rid of their lives, or I help them get their lives back. The choice is theirs'.Infallible logic.

Except, then, the situation you're emulating is completely different to the situation you create, because the emulated situation has alternatives - they could just go and hunt a different animal, for example.

Again, they already made that choice. They chose the mammoth, they chose their sin. My test is the battle.

Then you ignore the fact a mammoth can be fled from.
