ignoring the truth is not a wise approach to the test in which we're living. Who's to say what's the truth? The truth is this: Everyone's got to believe in something. Be it God, spirits, or the sciences, you believe. And as long as your faith in it gives your life meaning, that's truth enough.

Agnostic doesn't mean unsure what to believe, it means that you believe the existence of God is unknown and unknowable.
As you would have guessed, I am Agnostic.

As a non-catholic (despite some people calling Lutherans "Catholic-lite") I think somehow the current Pope is a 'place-holder' pontiff, until another spirited leader like JPII comes along.

Jewish guys are the single hottest guys on the planet. Wow. I never ever for a moment thought you'd remind me of my grandmother Nabu ;D I am taking this opportunity to make clear I'm not an agnostic. I'm undecided, as in, I'm unsure of what I believe. Whatever it is is deep down where I can't get at it. I am cool with that, I prefer it this way actually, trying to figure and puzzle out what I believe, what might be true, etc.

Pope's just being real conservative lately. It annoys me. Like antagonizing the Muslims (please, any one with half a brain should have known that statement would make people mad) Well, before he was made a bishop, he was a theologian and university professor, and given that he was giving an address at a Bavarian university (his old pre-Rome stomping grounds), so it could be that he slipped into "professor mode" and forgot (subconsiously or something) that his words would not merely be heard (and misinterpreted) by those in the auditorium, but around the world. Not to mention the whole "Mohammed's teaching/vile" passage isn't in isolation or anything, but within a greater context of God, reason, revelation and stuff like that. An English translation of the full address can be found here. The Pope even said the Emperor's words were "surprisingly brusque, especially today, and mentioned the "no compulsion in religion" thing. So I don't think he was trying to anger Muslims. If you're referring to this document, nowhere does it refer to non-Catholics as intrinsically hellbound or anything like that. What you're probably referring to is the fact that Protestant churches can't be called "churches" in the Catholic sense of the word because they lack apostolic succession. A good "rule of thumb" is to not trust the secular media when it comes to Church pronouncements. The media doesn't know what the Church is talking about. Well, it's a bit more than that, having to do with the nature of maleness and femaleness, and having different roles does not make the sexes unequal. This article does a good job of explaining the Church's teaching on the matter. Says who? Besides, it might be more appropriate to say that she's the "patron saint of those opposed to church authority that's having its strings pulled by an invading political force."

ninjanacoAlright, thank you for clearing that up. I don't know what the media are saying about it because I don't really read/watch the news (only comics and Bush bashers vs. supporters ;D ). My info is from talking to the priests, deacon, and other important figures at my church whom I would hope would be collectively well informed. As it is I still have a problem with authority ;D but I suppose I'm well informed now. Thank you.

I am cool with that, I prefer it this way actually, trying to figure and puzzle out what I believe, what might be true, etc. Ditto here. That's why I've never really found a need for any particular religion. I like searching and puzzling out and changing my beliefs as I go along, which is why I love science, the constant search for answers... I'm comfortable with that, because I'm usually quite humble about what I know and don't know. Uncertainty doesn't bother me that much when it comes to some things.

Primal Chaos. That's what I worship. Chaos always defeats order because it's better organized.
