Seriously? That's awesome! I think Aladdin is the first one I remember watching.
The Land Before Time was the first movie that made me cry. The sequels were Donkey dung, though.

Yup seriously, I was just 4 back then and I watched Aladdin when I was 7.
/*Didn't watch most of Disney's movies in the big screen or any animated film for that matter so don't wonder why.*/

I said Littlefoot's Mother. I no longer own a vhs of the movie because I gave it to my little cousins years ago (and I loved The Land Before Time). I cried the last time I saw that movie.
And, Mufasa's death is just as sad. You spend the first half of the movie liking Mufasa (kinda hard with Darth Vader's voice) and then he dies by way of the coolest stampede of all time in any form of entertainment? I can't remember how I reacted in '94 but I bet I was sort of sad.

The first four characters had sad deaths partly because they had young children. And most of those were movies made by Disney. So apparently Disney has some sort of sick, orphan fetish. Whatever floats your boat, I supposed.
Todd's mom died too early to get any real bond formed between the audience other then the 'she's a loving parent' thing. Bambi's mom's death was over shadowed largely by the affect it had on the title character. Her death caused Bambi's childhood to end. Very, very sad, but I feel that the loss of Bambi's childhood overshadows her death. And by that, I mean that I felt scared for Bambi more then I felt sad for her.
Mufasa possibly had the greatest characterization of all 4 parents. Littlefoot's mom died like hero, just like Mufasa, but I somehow felt Mufasa's death was some how more trageic. Perhaps because it was an assination instigated by his own brother?
To be honest, I haven't seen All Dogs Go to Heaven in it's entirety, and the last time I did see some of it was years ago. I can't say anything on Charlie.
Hazel, I had to wiki this guy. Seems like he died in the epilouge, several years later. Sad he died, but come on. Wasn't very sad seeing as how he lived a full life.
Optimus Prime died after a heated battle with Megatron, due largely in part to Hot Rod's interference. When Optimus died, a lot of fans of the show (ages 6-some parents) were sad/outraged. He was an Icon at the time of his death, standing for truth, justice, and freedom. His death would be perhaps the saddest. But, alas, he was brought back to life after a massive letter writing campaign.
Mufasa.

I think I'm going to make it my goal today to watch The Lion King today and maybe cry like a baby. Poor Muffy.

Undoubtfully, Bambi's mother dying....
But Littlefoot's mother dying was more sad because she died to protect her child... that's just emotional...

If I had to pick one off the list I'd say Charlie B. Barkin.
But the saddest one for me:
SPOILERS----------
Stitch in Lilo & Stitch 2.
All Dogs Go To Heaven is a great film, glad to see it on here.

Does it have to be a movie? Because the saddest death I can remember at the moment is Arusigawa Sorata's death from the anime 'X'.

I'll have to say Mufasa.. it's the only one I've ever seen and it still crushes my heart to this day to see Simba watch his father die.
