They even Bratz dolls that gossip for heaven's sake.
Here is the message they are sending: Dress skimpily, no matter what your age, don't bother using your brain, do nothing but shop or primp, and talk about people behind their backs.
None of the female dolls ever truly do anything, they simply sit around and talk of how "pretty" something is.
Why do they never make any who adventure?

My friend and I were at Wal-Mart the other day, and the walls were stocked with Barbie and Bratz!

These things are the VERY symbol of what sort of people the market wants women to become, IMO. Attention seeking, bear skinned, glossy haired, falsly befriended, money craving, slutty and deranged in almost every other manner except for health. I just cannot comprehend why some executives think that these brats/z actually have potential for a blockbuster movie. While the 'experienced' executives at Disney who have A LOT more cash to budget, and ALOT more resources they can use dont see any potential for Kim to even have another season!!!?? This is the sole reason I'm fighting for a fifth season, or even a movie, not because it can happen or not, but because it SHOULD happen... KP bloody well deserves a chance like this. Brats have stolen Kim's spotlight!

I'm just amazed that they're making a double-standard with the word. 'Brat' is a negative word, yet they're trying to make it sound good and such for young girls' mindsets. Would the name 'Bratz' encourage young girls to become spoiled, bad girls? Heck, the commercials seem to encourage this anyway with the young girls acting glamorous and such.
Meh. I think Barbie is a better role model of a toy for young girls than Bratz, from the way things look like.

What really needs to be done is to get the little girls' mind to create a sort of...prioroty sort of thing. Bratz puts 'glamour', 'popularity', 'money' and 'reputation' at the top of a young girls' mind, like these things are what really make you important, succesful and happy. While what really needs to be done is make it clear to the young girls that it is COMPLETELY the opposite, for a decent young girl she should be concerned about her 'health', 'education, 'manners', 'family' and 'friends'. If you compare the two you'll find a strikingly obvious difference: the first focuses on materialism. Yes, they want girls to be materialistic, which gives the message: "Buy our stuff! BUY! BUY!" While the second list more spiritual. The girls should be psychologically and mentally happy, satisfied with what's around them rathar than what isn't. At peace with their lives, giving out hte message: "I'm gateful with what i've got, I'm not a brat!" Hence, Kim Possible gives out a completely opposite message than Bratz. Anyone who endorses their products is taking part in an evil act, it's asin against humanity as far as I'm concerned.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIdlHcZmniIThis is the interview you all HAVE TO SEE! I saw this thing on the news last night, the companies that own Barbie and Bratz are suing each other to death. Go figure. The Bratz guy says "Barbie is like a mother, and Bratz look more like teenagers, according to children we've asked." The man doing the interview then asked, "Don't the Bratz look kind of hookerish?" I laughed so hard

I don't really share in the hatred, for 99.9% of hatred towards any doll line has been reserved for one pretty much since the beginning of time [okay, since I was young, which might not be the beginning of time--- ], and that would be Barbie.
In my opinion, both lines have made false impressions on what being a woman should really be. For bratz, it's of course the clothing and the way they 'interact'--and for Barbie her unreal lifestyle and body style so many try to achieve and fail to do so. Bratz teaches girls to be trashy, and Barbie suggests that--in order to be perfect, they have to be blond, beautiful, busty, and be good at everything. No wonder so many have resorted to having eating disorders
Personally I never really got into the US doll market when I was younger. Yeah, I had Skipper [Barbie's cooler, more normal younger sister], but most had my little pony. These days, I prefer the Japanese/Asian market of dolls, for there is more variety in personality and more life to them. They are jointed, more pose able, and in some occasions--have functioning eye mechanisms [they blink ;D]
The US doll market is very lacking these days. It seems as if before Barbie came onto the scene, girls weren't as concerned with weight, but once she'd arrived, the eating disorders had begun. Whatever happened to the traditional baby dolls?
Too bad both lines can't be given their swan song. I'd definitely love it if they got more into introducing the more realistic ball jointed dolls on the mainstream market like the ones produced in Asia. They make Barbie look like a 2d cartoon character compared to a CGI 3d animation character. ~Mara

One look at the Takara "Cool Girls" line (or the US release Cy Girls) and they'd never go back to American style "Fashion" dolls.

I guess each generation has its Bratz ... 10 years ago, it would have been Spice Girls dolls (and before you start ... I am a big spice fan .. just not the dolls!!) It was all Girls World when I was a kid .... A giant head that girls could do the hair and make up on. Actually .. how grim is that? A flippin great disembodied noggin, whose eyes never close and a fixed maniacs grin. SICK AND WRONG! Boys had Star Wars toys though ... and I mean when there was just the one movie! I had a Princess Leia doll that had long hair and a book with 100 hairstyles in it that I used to change at least twice a day. And my father never worked out I am gay until I was 21 ...... how blind must he have been?
