it's hard to say... I'm not sure if there was ever an actual Moment when one looked at the other and said "Hey, I LOVE this guy/gal"... it might have been more of a feeling that grew over time out of their friendship and their closeness - having been together since Pre-K means that you're looking at over a decade (more or less) of, at the least, a closeness that can't be matched by a simple date in high school. so... I dunno. how's that for a reply?

I always thought they were in love in some form, but did not show it until the movie.

It's not until the movie until they admit what they had all along.
Although we didn't see it, there is a crushing phase that probably occured. This is when girls roughly 7-11 and boys 10-14 begin to notice the opposite sex more. Girls tend to write their first love letters and want to play "house" during this phase. Boys tend to mix athletic skill with taking risky chances. Kim's crushing phase probably clashed with her tomboy phase. And it probably occured just as Ron came back an emotional train wreck from Camp Wannaweep.
So Kim's first love she gave to Ron was the role of protector. While Ron's first love that he gave Kim was the role of total devotion.

I actually think that they both realized at some point that they had feelings for the other before the movie. I just think that they didn't realize the other felt the same way until the movie. Ron's monologue in the movie said it all.

I don't think it was arrived at at the same time.
Ron-Most likely around Emotion Sickness he even acknowledges ther might be something, but he does not really fully grasp it until STD when he is talking to Rufus about something being tehre a long time.
Kim: She took forever and most fans I think were just screaming at her to look to who was already there. She fully gets it when Ron talks about better guys, especially in that room. She then says oh, really? That is her moment.

I think Ron always had feelings but never really knew what they were. He was just worried that it would end their friendship. Kim just needed to open her eyes to see that Ron was the best guy for her.

I agree, but I think Ron was aware of it after ES, but he chose to put aside for the friendship.

[glow=purple,2,300]Hmm yah I'd have to say that they felt things for each other for a long time, because you can't decide you love someone you just go to school with. Like Josh Monkey? Yah, true love doesn't just all of a sudden show up, ya know?[/glow]

Thank you, someone who sees Josh's actions the way I do. Anyway, I think in a way they were dating on misions, when you think about it. Of course their missions could almost be considered courting, because Ron nver made any moves.

Ron didn't realize or admit his love for Kim until he was getting ready to go to the prom. Kim didn't till Ron's "out there, in here" remark. But this was built on such deep foundations that it's not hard to imagine them agreeing to make it retroactive, back to when I wouldn't hazard a guess. Possibly before "Tick Tick Tick."
One of my humorous caption series (an imaginary scene a short time after the prom) may be relevant here:
