i love the shippy pic thread i can't get enough of that thread which may explain why i've been posting in a R/S shippy pic thread though i don't like R/S shipping also i love to laugh which is what that tread allows me to do

Kim and Ron were always meant to get together. Watch Crush again. It was the first episode we wrote and we thought it was pretty obvious.
Up until "So the Drama," or at least "Steal Wheels," a lot of people argued that
1) best friends of opposite sex getting together as a couple is a horrid TV cliche
2) this never happens in real life
3) Ron was not a suitable partner for Kim
4) there was really no sign that they felt this way about each other before season three.
So, we got into "re-evaluating" the episodes, one by one, to see whether we could pin down just what was giving the K/R shippers the impression that these guys were drifting toward romance. We found a lot of stuff.
The shippy pictures thread was a small collection Laur Stoppable posted about a year ago, and some arguments about a fanfic, when I revived it to post a screencap of Kim and Ron at the prom door (editing the pan into one big picture). The notion of funny captions came in a few pages later.
The two threads have been pretty intimately connected ever since, because as soon as we post a bunch of pictures to illustrate the next reevaluated episode, there's more shippy pictures to caption!
But we've almost reevaluated everything (we're just starting Team Impossible), so soon there will only be shippy pictures...

Ah. As far as I'm concerned, it was very much the opposite of obvious in "Crush".

I must disagree Lonestar, I thought it was very obivous from "Crush" that Kim and Ron would get together. But to be on topic I would say that Reevaluation is my favorite type of thread. The analysis' done there is one of my favorite things to read on this board. Keep up the good work Cloudmonet & Company!

People fall for their friends all the time. And people on this thread say that it does. In fact, I'm most attacted to my lady friends. 2) this never happens in real life Oh, it does, just not the same way as it does in the cartoon. In the cartoon you have innocent friendship (non-sexually based) leading to romance. I don't know that men and women can be 'just friends' the same way they are with members of the same sex. There is always a little bit of sexual tension between them. I'm not saying they can't be friends, just that there is always possible romance in a male/female friendship. All lasting romances start with one or the other though, sexual attraction leading to friendship, or friendship leading to heightened sexual attraction. It could be argued that this doesn't apply in KP and Ron as they were both very young when they met. I would concur so I really don't know why I typed this whole thing out. At least I worked out my own thoughts.. |
