One of these days somebody is bound to. I just can't do it - there's no interest in it for me. That's one of the reasons I'm not a real writer - I just can't do requests/assignments well. That's also a reason I've steered clear of the contests.

whoa... it's not the sign of a "real" writer if you don't want to do assignments and contests - it's just that you don't feel like doing them, period. It's certainly not a reflection on your talent nor your skill that you just don't feel like getting into the games. If there's no interest, there's no interest - period. I'm not sure what "real" writers do, but I've never been paid for doing someone else's request or challenge. At least not yet.  as far as the "request" goes - no place to start like the present with something you want to do - start putting together your story, toss it up here and ask for help. Everyone's got to start someplace and this is as good as any if you want to learn how to write fanfic that you'd like to read.  |
