Okay, I don't know if this game will catch on, but o well- I'LL PLAY IT WITH MYSELF YOU MEANIES!....
Anyway...
I know this sounds nerdy (probably cos it is >.>) but my computer won't burn cds, but I still make playlists and think 'Gawd, this would be so cool if I was in my car...' so I just make playlists so I can pretend I'm going to burn them...when I can't *eye twitch*
So, this game is where you can post your very own MIX TAPES!!!!
and give them a theme! You need a theme for your playlist- otherwise, how would you know it TOTALLY ROCKED!?!!!!!!!!
So here's mine:
Theme: Songs to Cruise to w/ Amigas ;D
Tequila by the Champs Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne Jungle Love by The Steve Miller Band Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks Que Ondo Guero by Beck I Believe in a Thing Called Love by The Darkness U-Mass by The Pixies Barracuda by Fergie >.> Don't Stop Believing by Journey Kiss Me Deadly by Reel Big Fish Alcohol by BareNaked Ladies Jailhouse Rock by Elvis Presley Wannabe by Spice Girls (O yea!) Ghostbusters Theme by Ray Parker Jr.
I also wanted to make this thread so I can learn new songs from other people, but SHHH, don't tell >.>

'Tequila' by The Champs was also in the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. ;D But instead of 'Tequila', they cried: "Ninjitsu!" We used to play that song at parties when doing tequila shots. Sigh. Good times, good times... L7, I like your play list, by the way. The Ghostbusters theme, The Pixies and Beck all rock. *thumbs up*

Fabelhaft, you would obviously know it better, so do it already. No, I can only say so much about industrial music. Now I want to read what the rest of the forum thinks classifies as part of that amazing genre. Also, I know we have some members here who are more partial to club-style techno, so I wouldn't mind getting some recommendations, beyond the usual Zombie Nation and Darude.

I only know a few techno songs, and only one that I really respect when I listen to the lyrics. I'd love to see a techno mix cos I'd like to hear more outside of the little I know on this genre. The song that I like best is Damaged by Plummetit's about rape, and it's really sad, but really good. I listened to it excessively when I first heard it. I actually just recently heard it was a remake of a non-techno song by Plumb (who I heard had Sarah Mclachlan sing lead? )

I think Plummet is purely trance...it's not really what I listen to, but I do enjoy it. I'm more into industrial, though...it's the ultimate fusion of rock and electronica. And by that, I do mean it's virtually all electronica. It can be fast or slow, brooding and gothic, or hip and dancey. It all depends on the band, artist, and song. NIN is probably the most mainstream industrial outfit out there at the moment...yet most fans know next to nothing about the greater genre. And bands like Rammstein and Marilyn Manson could be considered "industrial metal," I suppose.
I'm familiar with quite a bit of industrial music, but if you're looking for a few songs which will easily acquaint you with the basics of the style, here they are, in no particular order:
1. KMFDM - Anarchy
They're German, British, American...and even Jamaican. And they have owned since the early 80's. This masterpiece would be from 1997. I think it can be found on YouTube, in the form of fan videos.
2 KMFDM - Juke Joint Jezebel
The premier KMFDM song, from the 1995 album "Nihil." This can also be found online.
3. Front 242 - Headhunter
Old-school Belgian industrial from the 80's. The video features a giant egg. Watch it.
4. :Wumpscut: - Embryodead
An awesomely evil-sounding song, and the one that got me into this German project. Fast, violent, and incredibly danceable. Everything that aggrotech should be.
5. Laibach - Tanz Mit Laibach
One of the genre's founding bands, they hail from Slovenia, but mostly sing auf Deutsch. Very militaristic and minimalistic...which I enjoy. This one is from 2003, and can be found on YouTube. It was also featured on the show "Alias."
6. Feindflug - Stukas im Visier
An even more controversial group than Laibach, in terms of allusions to totalitarian regimes, and dressing like Fascists. Feindflug is basically violent, pounding, distorted power noise, with a melody and beat. Frankly, I love this song.
7. VNV Nation - Kingdom
A British band, which is a bit happier and a bit more uplifting in their material. All their lyrics are amazing. While Feindflug is part of the sub-genre "aggrotech" (the evil extreme of industrial music), VNV is "futurepop"...the happy extreme. An amazing song...seeing the group live was almost a religious experience.
8. Assemblage 23 - I am the Rain
More futurepop...and this song is brilliant, courtesy of an American group from Seattle. It's a rarity, considering that most bands in the industrial scene are European. Or Mexican. I think there's a "Kingdom Hearts" fanvid on YouTube, which uses this music.
9. Skinny Puppy - Testure
One of my personal favorites comes in second-to-last. Skinny Puppy is a legendary Canadian band (they grew from the same seed as fellow Canadians Front Line Assembly), and this song from 1988 deals with the subject of animal cruelty in labs. Hence, the video has some pretty graphic scenes in it...SK has always been heavily on the animal rights side, and they purposefully made it hard to stomach.
10. Combichrist - Today I Woke to the Rain of Blood
EACH DAY WE WILL SPILL THEIR BLOOD TILL IT RAINS DOWN FROM THE SKY!!!!
...from Norway. No point to the lyrics, but it's an awesome sample (Boondock Saints), and the rhythm is f*cking killer. A joy to experience live last fall.
Well, I hope that helps.
