What! No "They Might Be Giants"? And, of course, They Might Be Giants. I remember buying FLOOD (their definative MUST HAVE disc) when it came out. I recorded it onto one side of a 90 minute cassette and played that tape in my Sony Walkman until the tape wore thin... often while doing yard work, mowing the lawn, cleaning the house, etc. See kids, in my day "jobs that Americans didn't want to do" were done by miserable American teenagers and we'd never heard of an .mp3. In fact a one gig HD was considered an insane amount of storage... though we wouldn't see that for a few years and when we did, it was the size (and weight) of a cinderblock. <insert story of walking 10 miles to school, uphill, both ways, in the snow>

See kids, in my day "jobs that Americans didn't want to do" were done by miserable American teenagers My parents did their part in making this statement true, as will I when I have kids.

Yes, but... well... I'm not THAT old. And back on the music tangent, did I mention Pink Floyd and Radiohead? And Bowie?

Bonnie Raitt, Joe Jackson, Lyle Lovette, Radiators, Tom Jones (the man has more soul than Prince, which doesn't take much), Count Basie, Ol' Blue Eyes and Collin James Hay. And the King "Elvis" A thank ya, A thank ya very much. If you ever have the time, check out one of the last real AOR stations in the country. Based in Austin Tx, I haven't listened for a while, so I hope the corporate radio didn't mess them up too much. www.kgsr.com/The lounge kind of station in St.Louis? Ol' Blue Eyes, Dino, and some modern style of the Rat Pack? www.myredlounge.com/Finally, do you listen to the Jazz station out of Long Beach? KKJZ www.jazzandblues.org/programming/listen/Opp! I am rambilin', I'll just be quite now. ;D

And (as noted on the Media Mix page at http://www.swenlin.com) I've also just recently discovered "Mates of State". I stumbled on them by accident, but the 30 second preview of "For the Actor" hooked me hard and fast for bouncy, alternative, harmonizing techno-pop.
Now, if you'll excuse me, it's back to the Playhouse Disney grind...! ;D

As far as where I go from here? Since I finished my work on KP last year (we writers were done and gone long before the production was over), I've written for The Care Bears, an episode of The Batman, The Famous Five, done some development work and am currently back at Disney working on a new preschool show. For more details, you can keep current on all your Swenlin career news You've written an episode of The Batman? Good to hear. I've actually been really impressed with The Batman lately ever since its stellar 4th season. That Joker episode wouldn't happen to be The Metal Face of Comedy would it? Oh also Mr. Swenlin, sorry for the flak that I've been giving you guys lately, I know my latest posts have been a little over the top, but I usually only do it because I care.

How is the writer's strike affecting you? FYI - I've updated my blog! The show I've been working on has been officially announced, so now I can officially say I'm a staff writer on Playhouse Disney's "Special Agent Oso"! As always, you can find more information at... www.swenlin.com I just went to your blog to see what's new... I've noticed that every time I go there and see the little "What have I done for you lately?" word balloon, the Janet Jackson fan in me can't help but think, What have you done for me lately? Ooooh yeah....

Darth: Yes, it's true. I signed a petition that could possibly guarantee a future employment opportunity for me... or did I do it just with hopes of torturing Mark & Bob with another season of production battles? Hmm... but yes! Yes, I signed! Long live KP!
Kimron: If it makes you feel any better, and though it wasn't really my intent - I can't help but think that too!
GrandpaRD: I'm current on Jury Duty, but when that blows over maybe we can get you in here for coffee and signatures. You can see the writer's strike up close and personal.
FYI: I'm not in the WGA, so I'm not actually on strike, but I see the picketers every day. Fight the power!
