Hey, I know I haven't been around a lot, but it seems like we've been having some trouble lately. Apparently there's been some bickering, and a make-up, so it seems to me like now is a good time to review and revise our strategy.
If I'm being to forward in putting this out when I haven't been here in ages, let me know, but I like to think that I've gotten a chance to step away from this and look at it from sort of an outsider's perspective.
It seems like we've been going for quantity over quality.
-Back when I was around I was here for proofreading, and there were others too. I know some of you utilized this resource, but many more didn't. I think it should be movement policy to have all letters proofread.
-It also appears that we have become nothing more that spammers, filling up the inboxes of those we wish to reach, and causing them a great deal of grief. Therefore I would offer the following suggestiong:
~Let up for a week or two. Give them some breathing space.
~While this week is going on, let us compose a letter of apology (to which we can add everybody's name- real or online). We will e-mail this letter and include one letter that's sums up all of our points.
~We've tried vinegar-threats, rants, releasing our own frustration; no matter how blunt or subtle, it's been there in all of our letters. In our ultimate letter (should we choose to do it) there can be none of that. It must be perfectly polite and coherent.
~The letter should be sent from a brand new e-mail address (fight_for_five@gmail.com anyone?) and the subject bar should not mention Kim Possible ("Apology Letter" perhaps?)
~After the letter is sent, we do not do another massive e-mail program, but instead persistant reminders (bi-monthly? weekly?) that help to open up a dialogue/conversation with these writers. Instead of telling them, show them, invite them to ask questions.
-I don't know what happened to this, but earlier I suggested having an open chat day for the writers. Perhaps this could still happen?
-Anymore SKP days need to be done in moderation with everyone sending only 1 or 2 letters, and those letters must be proofread, or at least posted 24 hours before for public consideration and constructive criticism.
~It's just courtesy folks. They don't really need 15,000 e-mails. 200 well-written e-mails shows our devotion just as much as 15,000.
Those are my suggestions. Reject or accept them as you will.
