I just thought I'd tell or remind everybody that today is the Anniversary of the day Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. died. He died April 4, 1968, a few months prior to the birth of my mother! Martin Luther King and Me:First of all, this is going to sound very silly and may sound unrelated but just hear me out. Way back when I was little I didn't really care for M.L.K. Jr. and I regret being that way. But back then I used to be scared of him. I used to have dreams of him tickling me and I didn't (and still to this day) don't like being tickled. Well at first it wasn't Martin Luther King Jr, yet, or was but in a different form. It was a white bald man with a full mustache, and I think he looked like a wrestler. Anyway almost every night when I was toddler in Gary Indiana, I would have nightmares on my mother walking out on me leaving me alone and then after she steps out the man steps in and starts tickling me and rubbing his mustache against where my mustache would be one day (which is the reason why I don't like mustaches and why I don't like to wear one and shave it off when I can. When I finally started remembering what MLK really looked like, that bald white man was replaced by Martin Luther King. This by the way was because when I was little my mother and I were staying at my great grandmother's house and in her basement was a picture of Martin Luther King Jr. I wonder where that picture is now. My dreams of MLK changed but he still tickled me everytime he appeared (except two times). I don't know why I had dreams of him tickling me, probably because of a lot of other people tickling me, especially my family members. I even dreamed about birds tickling me too, which was the reason why I was scared of birds. I was scared of anybody that tickled me, especially on a regular basis. I'd be scared of you guys if you tickled me, well if I was a toddler! Anyway back on subject, I've been told that Martin Luther King had died so I didn't have to be too afraid of him, but I still was. Finally, and this is where it all changes for the better, when I started 9th grade, I began to have a bigger appreciation for Martin Luther King Jr. while I was doing a report on Jesse Jackson. Based on what I heard in 5th grade and on the report I did on Jesse Jackson, Martin Luther King Jr. was invited to dinner, but sadly on April 4th 1968, he was shot by a white assassin and died an hour later. What a shame! I have learned that Martin Luther King was no scary monster, he was a human being just like you and me and everyone else and tried to do something for everyone. He's probably been tickled himself as a kid. Plus he was married and had kids and probably tickled his kids. I feel ashamed of what and how I used to think about Martin Luther King Jr, especially after what he's done for me. I think without him, I'm not sure you all would allow me on the forum. And correct me if I'm wrong but what he did was better than what Malcolm X did. And it's a shame that he never made it to age 40. He died at an almost young age. But I just thought I'd remind everyone of Martin Luther King and his death that occurred 40 years ago today.

If it was like that, there wouldn't be war.

WAR, HUH, YEAH!
What is it good for? Absolutely NOTHING!
I hate war and I hate that millions of people are being killed, especially in the war in the middle east. You're supposed to love your neighbors as yourself and you're not supposed to murder. And whether you agree with me or not, taking part in a war is just like murder, it involves taking the lives of other people.
I'd rather be killed than kill another person. War is NOTHING but a heart breaker!
But I must say the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr did the best he could.

ILL say. Ever heard of the Gulf War syndrome? My teacher's friend was sent to fight in that CERTAIN war and when he came back, he was different. He refused to eat, to drink, to talk. All he did was stay shut in his room with his eyes displaying mixed horror and shock. In a week, he died. I don't know if I should bring some religious opinions into this, so I wont, but everyone will agree with me that war is unecessary. It's kind of like a fight between little boys, only magnified so much that it affects the people around it. Why won't Steven Harper and George Bush get their noses out of Afghanistan and Iraq? They claim to be on a *peace* mission, but is it really like that? Both American and Canadian soldiers die because of this, not to mention disrupting and scarring thousands of well-meaning people living there. Those people never wanted them, and they don't want them now!

Like I said, Martin Luther King, a mere human being like the rest of us, did the best he could.
I think I agree that war changes people. And I think from what I've watched on the some News I think that wars have psychologically troubled people.
I too was thinking maybe religious things should stay out of the forum because I read some time ago on another forum that religion and politics talk isn't allowed because people are called every name in the book. I mean I'm religious myself but I keep religion talk off the forum out of respect.
But I agree that war is unnecessary but it's also a waste of time, and as Shego said, "a colossal a waste of money", and a waste of precious lives. And I see on the news people grieving over their dead loved ones that went into the war and this shouldn't have to happen. Heck I saw on the news once that a mother suffered a heart attack and died a week after her son, or whomever she was related to, I cannot remember for sure, died in the war.
I feel sorry for the man who came home and didn't eat or anything and then died.
If the draft comes back and it's probably going to, I know this sounds stupid but I'm refusing it. And I don't care what they do to me, I refuse to fight in a war, and if I murdered someone, I will never forgive myself even if I am forgiven, and I'd be in a lot of trouble for taking another fellow-human's life. Back when I was in 7th grade I had a bad dream that I shot and killed my parents and when I woke up I was devistated I even cried in school! It kind of still haunts me to this day.
This sounds unbelievable to a lot of people and I can understand but I am confident that one day, there will no more wars EVER. And everyone will be at peace with each other regardless of race and nationality. I mean is that not what was originally intended of us?

I just think that the USA government is ignorant, arrogant, or both. Proud? I'm not sure. But I agree mostly with what you say.
