Just thought I'd try and revive KP discussion on this board...

Could James T. and Anne Possible be related not simply by marriage, but by blood?
We know nothing about Anne's side of the family. Some have speculated that Aunt June is the brain surgeon's sister, but we don't know that for sure.
Also, fanon popularly locates Middleton in Colorado, a state where marriage between first cousins is legal.
Not to mention that Kim seems to get her looks from her mom, but Mim Possible (Kim's paternal great-(great-?)aunt) looks a lot like said cheerleader.
Of course, if Anne and James are cousins, why would they get together? I think it could be plausible - James doesn't have a date for a dance (be it the fateful Science Dept. mixer in "Attack of the Killer Bebes" or a later shindig) but when his aunt and/or uncle hears of this, they remember they've got a daughter going to college in nearby Upperton, so they set her up as an "emergency date" for their nephew, and, well ... you can figure out the rest of the story.
So, what do you think of this theory? I'm not saying the two Drs. Possible are necessarily cousins, just that they could be. In fact, one problem with the theory is that it throws a wrench or two into the possibility of Joss/tweeb shipping - I'm fine with two cousins dating/marrying, but I don't think it's a good idea to have it repeated over several consecutive generations (i.e. dynastic inbreeding).
Just a few more notes:
1. Please, please, please don't cite Kim and the tweeb's lack of significant birth defects as evidence against the Drs. Possible being cousins. According to recent scientific research, the offspring of a first-time cousin couple (i.e. two cousins from normal, non-"inbred" families) has a 94-96% of being born without birth defects. (A 2002 study published in a genetic counseling journal found that the kids of cousin marriages had a 4-6% chance of being born with birth defects, as opposed to 2-3% for kids of a non-consangenious union.)
2. This topic is not primarily about the morality (or immorality) of cousin marriage, though that may come into the dicussion. The topic is, first and foremost, about the possiblity (no pun intended) of Kim's parents being cousins.
3. The discussion is not limited to the possiblity of James and Anne being first cousins. Whether they could also be second cousins, fourth cousins, 96th cousins, etc., is also on topic.
On that note, let the discussion begin!
