Congrats!
You're studying Computer Games Programming? That sounds cool, but it doesn't seem like a lot of book work.
But, I no nothing of computer games, except sometimes I get addicted to them.

Congrats! You're studying Computer Games Programming? That sounds cool, but it doesn't seem like a lot of book work. But, I no nothing of computer games, except sometimes I get addicted to them. There's A LOT of maths and physics. Pretty much anything that happens in the real world happens in the game world, so I need to know, like, everything. CONGRATULATIONS! So, you've finally made it out of High School and you're off to start a new life, that's great news. Wishing you all teh best, mate! I happen to be transferring to uni in the UK in less than a months time too! High School is USA, I was one step ahead of Secondary School, in Sixth Form (Year 13, dunno if that helps). I'll be at Derby Uni again this year. Uni is so much more fun than any other Education. I really wanted to go to Derby, it was on my application - I would've gone there cause they have the best Games Programming course there. Alas, I need to stay home to look after my puppy. Congratulations, Krist! *tackle hug* I'm so happy for ya! University of Westminster is pretty up there! I wish you all the best on your course, and hope you make lots of friends on your first day! I'm guessin' as you live in London, you'll probably be comutin'? Yeah, I will - I live just South East of London so it isn't too far. I had to stay at home. Congratulations! Seeing the news repeat the story of A level results is unnerving me... I never really gave it much concern, it's only school results. What matters to me is my friends and family. - Thanks everyone.

So, it's kind of an interdisplinary thing?
That's cool. That's why I plan on Minoring in Women and Gender Studies, so I could have classes related to a bunch of other things, Literature, History, Criminal Justice, Communcations, Sociology, etc.
Ah, London. Nice.

Congratulations! Have fun there! But be warned... eventually they just hand you a diploma and send you out into the real world--that part kinda sucks.
I'm thinking about going back for another degree, or at least an endorsement.

Congrats luv! I keep saying I should go back and do some more studying .. cant afford to now though.
Tsk. Nabusan ... really ... I expected better from you! Most of my most fun exploits were from my Uni days! I could start a whole thread just about what I got up to over the years!

I don't know your exact program, but I am in Computer Engineering and I will take about 25% Math, 30% Physics/science, 20% programming/theory, 20% hardware, 5% everything else. The programming is the easy and fun part. Its knowing the background material that hurts me Anyways Congrats

congrats! what languages will you learn for programming? Most likely C#, C++ and Java - I think. I know those are usually the languages used for games, mainly C++.

You will likely start in Java as it has the most documentation, and is usually more stable (At least from what my professors told me). If at first you don't succeed, try again Thats the best advice that I can give when learning Java as your first language

An old friend of mine made a game for his cellphone using Java ^^ It involved a frog crossing a road without getting hit by cars. ^^ Wasn't half bad ^^
