Villains never scared me but aliens that is other thing. And I mean those big black ALIENS with acid in place of blood.
And nightmares with them was horrific thing I have ever experienced.
But I really like them now ;D

I saw The Blob for the first time a few months ago.
I actually laughed my way through most of it.

When I was 9 or 10 years old I saw The Shawshank Redemption. Captain of the Guards Byron Hadley (Clancy Brown) seriously creeped me out and made the hairs on my neck stand up. The performance still does, really.
'Scary' stuff like horror movie creepos and freaky monsters, or even guys like Lector just don't do it for me. I've always been a lot more scared of awful characters you could actually meet in real life. There are a lot of Byron Hadleys in the world.

According to my folks the flying monkeys in Wizard of Oz scared me as a kid. Much to my shame the Raptors in the original Jurrasic Park scared the crap outta me when I was younger.

I remember wanting to rent "Earnest Scared Stupid" (showing my age but oh well) when it first came out on video and that troll in the movie scared the be-jesus right outta me. Also, accoring to my mom, Earnest used to scare me too.........and Sweetums from the Muppet Theater show.
-Zombies did and do still scare me -Judge Frollo from the Hunchback of Notre Dame used to scare me, but now I think he's just an old pervert. -Critters and -Leatherface OH....MY GOD!!!!!!!!! TREMORS I think was the worst! I watched it when it premiered on ABC. Basic cable airing and it still scared me half to death. For weeks........I'd run as fast as I could to the blacktop on the playground at recess and would NOT get off of it until it was time to go in.
It's okay MrMatt.........I used to be afraid of the raptors and am also ashamed.

Lets see there was one paticullar villain that used to scare me when I was little, he was from the X-Men Magneto the guy who can controll metal. He's very evil and scarry, a villain scares me now and that's Vlad from Danny Phantom he was cunning, evil, didn't care about any one except for Maddie or Danny and even later in season three he only saw Danny as a pest LOL. I feel silly about thatXD

Magneto was (and still is) one of my favorite characters. He's the Professor's best friend, they both want the same thing, but they disagree on how to accomplish it.
And how many "villains" sit down for tea and a game of chess with the "hero"?
I'm not even sure I'd call him a villain, he wants equality and/or a nation where mutants aren't oppressed and are allowed to be themselves without fear of repercussions. He's just willing to kill for his beliefs (as many people in the past have been). And after living through WWII as a Jew, he has little faith in humanity to be accepting of differences (he lived in a concentration camp for a while).

It's all based on opinion really and what your take was on these characters growing up. At least we're not like the lady highlighted on "Best Week Ever". She was a guest on Maury who was afraid of chicken in any form and my mom works with a guy that's afraid of cotton balls.
WITS-you said Freddy Kruger scared you when you were a child. I've always admired Kruger and now some sick twisted part of me think's he sexy, along with Vincent Price.
Ashfangirl20-yeah Vlad is kinda creepy and for those reasons. I still say being scared of the raptors and the troll from Earnest scared stupid is the epitome of a fraidy cat uber baby. (no offense MrMatt-that's a blow to myself)

I can think of only two:
As a child, the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton) in The Wizard of Oz (which did give me nightmares), and--my personal nominee as scariest villain of ALL TIME[/b]--Tim Curry as Pennywise the Clown in Stephen King's It! (1990). I still think that movie's the scariest thing I have ever seen. Of course, I've never seen The Exorcist, but I bet old Pennywise could even give the Devil a run for his money!

See the Excorsist it's not uber scare by modern standards but it is very, very intimidating. Truly a classic of the film industry to not just for the cinematography but also for how many maxims it broke.

Tim Curry does a great villian / creepy guy in pretty much anything he's asked to do. See the Excorsist it's not uber scare by modern standards but it is very, very intimidating. Truly a classic of the film industry to not just for the cinematography but also for how many maxims it broke. There are two reasons I have never seen The Exorcist: the first is that I am easily scared (I've never even been in a carnival "haunted house") and do not find any fun in being scared. The other is that I have a very queasy stomach when it comes to bad language and bodily functions, which (as I understand it) both the novel and the film use in abundance. This is simply a weakness of mine. From the days I was a schoolkid I have had a strong aversion to bad language. I think we'd all be a lot better off if, like smoking, it were to disappear (at least publicly). But on the good side I'm not afraid of spiders. In fact I love 'em! I'll take spiders over obscenities, curse words, gore, and regurgitation any day. The terrifying thing about Pennywise in It! was not merely Curry's performance (though of course it was excellent and probably could not be improved upon), but the idea of a supernatural, almost omnipotent creature, that kills children[/b], the weakest and most vulnerable population segment. The very idea is profoundly disturbing.
