I am surprised so many people didn't like this episode. The fighting scene in the storm in the final act, I loved it. I love great fighting scenes. It is rare that KP can be so epic. One other reason why so many of you didn't like this episode, it followed Stop Team Go everyone loved that episode, that following might have hurt Cap'n Drakken, sometimes it is not the quality, but the timing of an episode. Disagree on this, a person's dislike coming off an awesome episode is flawed logic. People didn't like Cap'n Drakken because people thought we were going to get an epic pirate story for an episode. We didn't get that, instead we got an episode focused on the senior class BEING FORCED to act like they lived in the 18th century for 3/4 of the episode, this part of the episode was so dreadfully BORING that I nearly fell asleep. There's an old saying, "The past is a nice place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there." There was nothing of remote interest in the living history town plot. The pirate stuff wasn't up to much either. First off, EPIC fights only work when they're told in EPIC stories, the pirate story was not epic, even in the simplest of terms. Just because it LOOKS EPIC, doesn't make it so. Secondly, the pirate spirit HAD NO MOTIVATION in the episode, and our heroes were chasing after him without even the slightest idea of HOW to defeat him. The fact that his defeat happened by accident was absolutely lame. Long story short: -Stuff that involves pirates=cool, because that genre always has alot of adrenaline & high adventure appeal to it. (But there's very little (if any) involvement with this in terms of plot) -Stuff that involves the senior body being forced into a boring situation, that also involved boring characters like Franklin Barkin=/=cool, because the 1800's stuff is not relatable to most viewers, thus holds little to no appeal. There was nothing about the story relating to any character or anything that we cared about, and there was nothing that kept it grounded in a relatable atmosphere for any of the viewers. Most people don't consider things like Kim churning butter, while wearing 1800's clothing, while having to act like she lives in that era, to be cool or interesting. Watching our characters adapt to the 1800's in every distinguishing way (from transportation, to fashion, to work) is/was boring to watch.

I recently found an article about Living History and why most people find it boring. And it got me thinking on why this episode felt unsatisfying. www.usatoday.com/travel/destinations/2004-04-15-living-history_x.htmI especially like the part where it says: "It's unfair to make the comparison because the resources are so unequal. But the audience makes that comparison and if you don't measure up, you're boring."That's why the episode fails. Comparing our characters and what they usually do to them (dressing in our great grandparents clothing, having no technology, churning butter, and doing chores). Which one sounds more interesting? The former, or the later? The VIPS might not make the comparison, but the viewers do. That's why the living history stuff failed, it was presented in a boring fashion. And the action sequences while nice looking don't tell a story, so it doesn't add anything either. They were like a Michael Bay movie using flashy effects with no substance behind them.

It would have been a lot more fun if the senior trip had gone off as planned, only to be interrupted by Drakken's doings. The whole "Living History" crap just irked me to no end. Not only was it boring, but every single parent who sent their kids should have had their lawyers ripping the school system a new one!

Uhm, I vote other, mainly because, it was created the same reason most episodes are created- to be created. All they want to do is promote KP and nothing else, remember? ;D

Um, because someone had an idea for an episode involving pirates because pirates are cool and a lot of people like them. I sincerely doubt KP was needed to promote PotC3 at all. Using Kim Possible to promote Johnny Depp would be like using a professional athlete to promote a minor leaguer.

Hey guys, I just recently finished a revision on Cap'n Drakken if anyone is interested (just scroll to the bottom): ronstoppable.proboards89.com/index.cgi?board=episode&action=display&thread=8620&page=4Of all the revisions I've done thus far, this is the one I like the most. Mostly because: - Gives Barkin a justifiable reason for making the senior trip an assignment (the senior prank).
- Gives us a character to care about that isn’t part of the senior body or the town’s folk (Nana Possible).
- It tones down on the Living History stuff so it isn’t so lame and insufferable (they only dress up in acts 2-3).
- Gives us a deeper character study of Black Eye Brown with him mistaking Bonnie for someone he met before named “Penelope Clearwater” because of her wearing “his” stolen golden necklace, this also gives us a more character driven plot with Bonnie involved.
- We get a payoff of the Senior Body learning something from living history, (Ron uses the “special charcoal” that would pay off later in the episode).
- And the action sequences flow into each other better, instead of the action sequences being mindless sequences with no flow to them.
Thoughts anyone, do you guys think these elements could've made it better?
