Yeah, I realize this is probably the wrong place to ask, but I'm getting really frustrated with this class and am hoping by some strange miracle that someone is really good with this subject.
I've got a test on Laplace transforms, the Heaviside step-function, and the Dirac Delta Function, and Convolution on Monday, and I'm getting so frustrated that I'm not able to pay attention in other classes because ... well, to be honest, after getting failing grades on so many of the tests and quizzes in this class this semester, I've lost confidence in my mathematical abilities (not that I'm really that great at it).
I've tried both my book, Wikipedia, and Mathworld for help on this, and so far I've gotten limited results, but something just isn't sinking in. Does anyone have any experience with this that might be able to help?

Um, I know what differential equations are, but the "Laplace transforms, the Heaviside step-function, and the Dirac Delta Function, and Convolution" stuff all is lost on me. Is this Calculus?

um, think of a side branch between Calc II and III. It's some cool stuff, if I could ever figure out how to do it properly ... preferably without failing all the quizzes and tests on it first.
Edit:
Unfortunately, these classes are typically only taken by people majoring in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, and the Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, and then Geology and Biology at some schools)

Normally only in engeneerings that relly heavily on mathematics, as there are those that do not relly as much as other.
Mechatronics(electromecanics), eletrical engeneering, mechanical engeneering, civil engeneering, relly heavily on those.
And yes, that's on Calculus II and III, although I'm more familiarized with those fields under the name of "Mathematical Anaylisis I/II/III/IV" but the name will change in he future to "Calculus".

Luckily, I found someone to briefly explain Convolution to me, so I'm going to be up all night working on problems of that. Next is the Heaviside function and Dirac Delta Function.
Its sad the Diff Eq is so eloquent and beautifully simplistic, and yet so easy to make stupid mistakes here and there on.

I took calculus...once upon a time Although it was just I/II, so we never went into these crazy things. Holy, haven't even heard of some of them, like a "dirac delta function" Well, best of luck with all of that! Certainly sounds like a lot on your plate

Unfortunately most of the sites ive seen only cover very limited calculus, but I see the maths your doing is even more evil then the maths im doing, Good luck with that

I'm definitely going to enjoy any puns and math jokes in "Mather and Father," or whichever episode that is. And now I'm off to the math help center on campus to try to understand this stuff. Oiy.

i'm only in calc 1 right now, so i can't really help... i'm looking forward to this!! just two more semesters until that's me! ;D also, i sometimes go to this forum for help with science and math troubles. they respond pretty quickly, and they don't just do the work for you, but they help you along with it. physicsforums.com/index.phpgood luck though, with this class!

I'm glad it's not just me. DE was like hitting a brick wall in college. It didn't help that the prof was one of the worst at the university.

Hehe, yeah, I'm at that point now, with a horrible prof as well. It doesn't help that the material in this class forms the basis of the upper-level material in my major (physics). So yeah... I have to figure this stuff out, one way or another.
