I'm going to be asking a young lady if she'd like to go out with me. I can't believe I hadn't thought to ask earlier. I've known her for a while and find her atractive, but the thought of going out with her hadn't crossed my mind. Well, keep your fingers crossed.

If you're not sure how she'd take being "asked out" (dinner, movies, etc.), start with something rather everyday, such as asking her to join you and a group of friends to the video arcade. Then, since the occasion is no big deal, it wouldn't feel like a big slap in the face if she turns you down. Or, just call her to talk for a while (but not ask her out). You usually can tell right away if you two are "connecting," and if she seems to give you the brush-off, you will have your answer without the risk of being humiliated. On the other hand, if she seems glad you called and you two have a long, animated talk, then I'd see that as a big green light to call her to ask her out a few days later.

Fahzou, the REAL Date Doctor. LOL, I agree with Fahzou's statement, but I wish you good luck anyways.

Qualification: Fazou, is right. I am suprised a human would know so much.
Statement: To know ones enemy...you must act like your enemy. Do not take my words literally...or in your case 'To know ones lover...you must act like your lover'....wait...that is not right.

Good luck! Tis a hard step to take. Says the girl who's far to much of a coward to ask her own crush out. The best of luck to you, I envy your courage.

I'm actually in a similar position as you are. Best of luck to both of us! And if things don't turn out the way you (me) hope, don't let it get you down. As Wilson Mizner once said: When you're spent, reinvent!
A quote from Michael J. Nelson also comes to mind:
"...the stress of meeting women (a stress more severe, mind you, than getting a divorce and losing your job while on a jetliner that is currently plunging, uncontrolled, out of the sky)..."

As long as you two are friends, you should be fine. I've gone out with guys I barely knew, and we were so strapped for conversation, it just made the whole thing real awkward. We're still friends and all, though. ^_^
Good luck!
