The other night, me and my friend began talking about old Video Games, we ended up talking for a good 2-3 hours on the subject, reminiscing and sharing memores. But then we noticed that we haven't gone out and bought any Super Nintendo Games in a long time. And since my other friend came back from a vacation the other day, the three of us decided to hit every Pawn Shop (and some Video Game Retailers) in search of some Super Nintendo Cartridges.
The only bad thing was that today was a Sunday, and lots of stores close early. But we ended up buying Nine games for the Super Nintendo and I walked away with two Sega Genesis games, Rocket Knight Adventures and a 6-in-1 Cartridge (With some awesome games). Right afterwards we packed up on Food and Snacks and spent the rest of the day/evening playing.
Man we hit that SNES hard, there was Gradius 3, Killer Instinct, Super Punch-Out, R-Type, Street Fighter 2, Judge Dredd, Mortal Kombat 3, Spider-Man and X-Men in Arcade's Revenge, it just went on! Sure some of the games weren't good, but it was still a worthy trip down memory lane.
I don't own a Genesis yet (used to), but I hope to get another one soon, Sparkster and Streets of Rage are calling out to me.
The whole day reminded me of the days of my youth when major stores still carried SNES and Genesis titles, hitting Pawn Shops with the hope of finding some diamond in the rough. I miss them a lot.
It's always good to stray away from the real world and just revert to childhood memories, even if it lasts for an hour. The whole experience just makes me want to make a YouTube video and share some of my favorite Gaming Experiences as a wee lad.
At the risk of sounding old, Those were the days....
