Yes, it really was my birthday yesterday. No, I am not really 99 years old. Or maybe I am!?! ;D As long as that decrepit portrait of me I keep in the attic stays safe, the world will never know. reference there.

I thought it may have been a reference to 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen'; that Dorian Gray character *shrug* Or maybe not. ^^

^ I think it's more directly referring to "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde.

My two cents, anyway. ;D OH MY GOD! I AGREE! I went to see The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen with my mum when it came out! She wanted to see it because of Sean Connery (at least I know who she fancies!) and I didn't. I saw it, and I hated it. I hated it.

Hey, everybody! Just dropping by to say hi and that I haven't forgotten you guys. Been swamped with work. (Glub!) Which is the best possible problem for a writer to have. Sleep would be nice too though someday. But I'll be mellow when I'm dead. Or unemployed again. Wizard World LA was a good time last weekend. I'm not usually much of a convention-goer, except Comic Con. So I don't have a lot to compare it to. Had a blast on my birthday, aka "Stephen Colbert Day in Oshawa, Ontario." Have to thank Mr. Colbert for having the foresight to be challenged into that bet by the mayor of a town whose birthday is the same as mine. Clearly he did that just for me. (I feel this to be the truth, therefore of course it is. As truthiness decrees.) Anybody found any of that new Ben & Jerry's Stephen Colbert "Americone Dream" ice cream yet? Is it any good? Re: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Never saw the movie. Never read the comic book. Does that kill my geek cred? I did first hear of the comic book back when Buffy the Vampire Slayer was still on the air and they did a shout-out to it during an episode. Does that reinstate my geek cred? I happened to coincidentally be in Prague when they were shooting that movie though. And the only reason I know this is that while I was there, college-aged Czech kids were all a-buzz about one of the actors being in town. They'd hear me speaking English and come up to me in swarms excitedly telling me "That British actor is here! You know? That one British actor?" That one British actor... Hmmm... I took a complete stab in the dark: "Sean Connery?" "Yeah!!! Sean Connery!" I didn't have the heart to tell them he's not British. ("If it's not Scottish, it's crap!" ) But I also felt REALLY bad for every single other British actor ever in history!! Heh. Czech kids never heard of 'em. There's only ONE "British" actor. It was kinda strangely ironic, though, that in a post Cold War Bohemia, the most recognizable "British" movie star was Cold War super spy, James Bond, of all things. Irony. Mmm... lotsa i-ron. Anybody got any questions? Post 'em and I'll check back and try to make up some believable answers for ya. -c

I'm a few days late but welcome to the board Charlotte. The song on your Myspace totally takes me back. I miss the early 90s. Ah nostalgia. Any clue what that famous unkown lyric is? I like Gilmore Girls but my mom and sister are into it more than I am. I'll reccomend that book to them.

Welcome fellow citizen of the Colbert Nation! I am Avenger, and am pleased as punch (to the throat) to have another fine VIP join our *ahem* "modest" mesageboard. As for the "Americone Dream": My brother, my friend, and I all went out last night in search of Mr. Colbert's ice cream. I think we searched for an hour and a half, at about 10 different locations, trying to locate a pint of this delicious delight, but to no avail. And, to add insult to injury, we did see a few of Willie Nelson's Country Peach Cobbler! Such a slap in the face, this was, that we plan to write Mr. Colbert a letter expressing our outrage over the lack of Americone Dream in our area. He must be informed of Willie Nelson's further encroachment on his celebrity desert territory! So, unfortunately, I have not yet tasted the amazing awesomeness that is Americone Dream. I will let you know how it is once I find some. (Or vice versa, please, if you should try some first...) Again, welcome to RS.net! And remember: you can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave.

I think the reason Americone Dream is hard to find and Willie Nelson's Country Peach Cobbler is easy to find is because more people want Americone Dream so it goes almost as soon as it is put on the shelves.
