Not everyone roots for the home team, nab. ;D And yeah, I agree - she's jealous of Kim being the center of attention. She would be jealous of *anyone* who gets the center of attention of the entire school. Thus why in my "A Bond of Honor" fic, she sees Yori as a rival too, given Yori, being a newcomer to MHS, starts to become popular. Thus poor Bonnie gets bump down to Number 3 position behind Kim and Yori.

At the end of Number One, when Kim swallowed her pride and showed good sportsmenship and said "Bonnie you rock". Bonnie let her guard down, I expected her to say something like "Yeah of course I do" in a conceded way. But she said in excited way like a kid responded to his hero "Really", like Kim's comment meant a lot to her, and deep down she respects, maybe even admires Kim's ability. Yeah, it was a victory for Bonnie, but she gave it up only 2 to 4 weeks later. She realized it was *hard* work to be captain anyway. It was better staying in the Number Two position and just let Kim do the work. Kind of odd IMO. She worked hard to get the captain's position only to give it up. I mean really, a leader does have to work hard constantly, so she thought it was going to be a cakewalk?

I agree that part of Bonnie's problem is having her sisters remind of her of her perceived short comings so she does have to be number one. However I think she does admire both Kim and Ron and has been helpful on some of the missions Kim has been on.
She is good rival for Kim and she helps keep Kim a little humble as Bonnie does get in Kim's head from time to time.
As I have stated before on another topic I also think she's envious of Kim and Ron's relationship. Kim has someone she knows she can count on because Ron has come thru for Kim before on several occasions. All Bonnie has had is the on again off again relationship with Brick.
I think in the end Bonnie and Kim will become good friends when High School is over and Bonnie will no longer feel the need to compete with Kim. I even think Bonnie will be a bride's maid in Kim and Ron's wedding.

You know, this has an odd parallel with Daria, a much more realistic high school cartoon. The entire chemistry of the cheer squad is much like that of the Fashion Club. Bonnie is like Sandi, the condescending stupid shallow girl who became leader. She is passive-aggresive, and always kicks them when they're down. Kim is Quinn, the only other person who actually posesses a brain at all. She is smarter than the counterpart (Bonnie/Sandi), although Kim is WAAAY smarter and deeper than Quinn. They are rivals for leadership. The rest of the cheerleaders fill the roles of Tiffany and Stacy, mindless sheep for the most part.
