Aw man, that would be so cool if it wasn't just a prototype.

Uh Cap, I knew about this months ago (Thanks to Wandering_Skipper who told me about this guy and if you do a look under my name in a search I posted this back in November or December 2006), and in fact I can tell you this isn't just fiction.. It's pretty darn good fact. I was amazed that the wings fold out and everything (not quite KP Standards perse, but still, the 2nd prototype will have the features that are described, including the aerobatics and the longer flight time.. ah the joys of science.. now if we could get a story about Kim trying out her prototype.. that would be so cool.. and speaking of which, here's an actual shot of the jetpack: and a lot of folks thought I was 'the crazy one'.. go figure. After watching the video, I'm curious as to whether or not those jet engines have enough thrust to vertically suspend him, or are they only used to push the person in the horizontal direction?
Otherwise, he should be able to use the parachute as a backup in case the jet pack fails, and simply land vertically with the jet pack. Now if he hooked up multi-directional engines to get some vector forces going, along with a joystick and such, that would be awesome. It'd be like a mini- navy jet.

Well from what I understand from Mr. Rossy's Site, the Second Generation Jetpack will actually be able to launch you from the ground, but the Parachute is still the only way to land (no one really has worked out the bugs on using either the "Squirrel Suit" or the Jetpack to land yet.. but give them time, they will figure someway to do it.. Now as for the second gen engines, these will be the same size roughly but will have more thrust output.. so in a way the lift will be just enough.. As for the Power Glove idea well that might be an option on Prototype 3.. but Believe me, this one is very real and in fact the top speed if you read the specs state that in a "Superman Tuck" position The pilot can get to 180 mph.. but the rate of Climb is still impressive for Generation 1.. 1000 feet per minute at 115 knots.. not too shabby really. But Heck I thought there was a thread I threw up here a couple months ago.. *(Shurgs)* ah well thems the breaks. Tucsoncoyote--
