At this point in my life my most significant accomplishment would have to be graduating from college with a bachelor's degree. BS Elementary Education, nothing terribly fancy.
But it means a lot to me. I have made an educational milestone. I have something to show for the past four years of my life. I now have the training to be able to support myself and hAng with kids all day (boo-yah!)

A student disagrees with you over a stated fact. Your first response? And what lesson do you teach?
Then, if you're willing, answer the same question about a stated opinion instead of a fact.

I would ask the kid to show me why he disagrees. It's incredible the way children can think. After all, a mathematical fact was discovered by an elementary student just playing around.
The lesson I would be teaching is simply the learning process.
I think I would have to give the same answer for stated opinion.

Honesty, I don't like them. I have nothing against homosexuality, but I just don't like slash. A large part of it has to do with that so much of it is done for shock value.

Nope. It's very rare for me to join a community. I belong to a total of four, and this is the only KP one.

Quite. I'm LDS (Mormon, member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, whatever you want to call it). I like to think of myself more as spiritual, though. To be perfectly honest, I'm kind of a hypocrite. I really don't like the idea of organized religion all that much, and yet I happily belong to an organized religion. I guess I just happen to like mine and no one elses.

5 feet, 6.5 inches.

Generally, I'm quite the opposite. But I have had my moments.

I'm currently registered independent, with probably more of a leftist swing.

Alright. One more then on topic... What is your philosophy of education? I'm really into discovery learning. I think the student has a lot responsibility in his own learning. I think students should learn the basics needed for society, but then should be allowed to branch out into their own interests. I believe students need to be motivated, and persuing interests helps to motivate. I don't like letter grades as the main assessment display. I think kids should be graded on improvement. |
