I've heard that Wade's last name is either Load or Lode. It's even on Wikipedia; but I haven't heard his last name in the series. Is it officially his last name, or is that just made up by fans?

The "Wade Load" idea stemmed from early series production, but the idea of Wade having a last name was eventually dropped.
Although the full name is pretty much considered fanon, the fact is that Wade really has no last name at all within the actual series.

Thanks. I thought that was the case, but Wikipedia said otherwise.

That's one of the names that has kind of been agreed in the fandom, but never actually said in the show.
If you ask Kurt Weldon, he'll tell you that, in early drafts of ASiT, Wade's last name was supposed to be Weldon. But, if I'm not mistaken, others have confirmed that it was originally supposed to be Load.
I stick with Load for my fanfics. I don't know - it's just the name everyone seems to use.

As far as we know; it's Load. The reason is that this was the last name he was given in the instruction booklit for The Revenge of Monkey Fist. Whether it's canon or not, no one knows, but it's stuck with the fans.

I do believe that it's Load. It is at least to half of the fanfics out there Though when the majority of the fans say something is true, it pretty much ends up that way.

According to the Powers That Be, it is 'officially' Load, but it was never mentioned on the series, so it's up to the individual to decide if it's canon.

I've always gone with Load.
Not sure what the word pun is there.
Possibly, waylaid?

I always thought the pun was "Wide Load".

"Wide Load" is indeed the pun, Guys. Wade Load it is. (Should have been left at Weldon IMHO)
Just like when we had to find out the name of the WEGO twins, you have to go through the eps with the closed captioning on.
Surprising what you can find in there!

Sometimes close captioning is wrong, though. What were their names?
I'm bidding on the Revenge Of Monkey Fist game on Ebay- hopefully I'll win the auction and be able to check the booklet. Thanks for replying, guys!

We learned they were called "WEGO".
That's it. Wego was never mentioned out loud in the spoken dialogue in any Eppie.
No first names, sorry. Just the Wego twins.

I looked over the transcript for "Go Team Go", and sure enough- no mention of their names (no "Stop Team Go" transcript to check, though). Woah, I never noticed that! I just always thought of them as "Wego" when I saw the episodes because that's what everyone on FF Net and RS Net called them.

When the series first aired, Disney Press issued paperback story versions of some of the first episodes. I don't know if later printings of the stories had these, but in some of the earliest publications they glued a "trading card" of a KP character inside the back cover of each book, giving his/her full name and some basic info. Inside the back of my edition of Downhill, there was a trading card for Wade--and in bold letters it listed him as "Wade Load." I later referred to him as Wade Load in my fanfic, because after seeing that card I figured his last name would be considered canon. You'd think I'd still have the card to offer as proof, but nooooo...the card is missing (I presume my daughter had long ago made off with it). Yet the gummy glue that the card was stuck to is still there inside the book. And I'd swear on a stack of Bibles that the caption on the card read Wade Load.

I always thought the pun was "Wide Load". Ah, thanks for that. I was way off, wasn't I? Still, in my fanart, I slimmed Wade down (somewhat). It really isn't good for him to be so overweight. Besides, I imagine he's kinda like the scottish highland wrestlers. They look fat, but are really strong.

I thought that "Wide Load" was also some kind of computer language for a big bandwidth or something. Any tech gurus out there to answer? I really know next to nothing about computer programming. I looked "wide load" up on wikipedia (not the best resource, but, hey, why not?) and found some "32-bit microprocessor core" called "Xtensa". On the page, it says "SOC designers can choose one or two 128-bit wide load/store units." I have absolutely no idea what any of that means, but somewhere in between all that techie mumbo-jumbo they sandwiched the phrase "wide load". Of course, I could be utterly and completely wrong about this (Gasp! Me, wrong? How is it possible?). Correct me, please. I told you, I know next to nothing about all this stuff.
