I can't see him in any other field of work that would fit him and his skills (which aren't many compare to Kim).
OUCH!! That is harsh.
What are the skills and or intelligences that we see Ron use well?
Crush – Ron is exceptional at motivating people (Kim in particular).
Sink or Swim – Ron is shown to be very good at arts and crafts and strategy.
The New Ron – Ron exhibits a genius level grasp for tactical advantages and defense placement. (Such a high level of expertise that Kim was on the verge of defeat from Ron’s insight.)
Tick-Tick-Tick – Ron exhibits a rather high master of driving a two wheel vehicle in combat conditions. He is also the one that determines how to remove the tick.
Downhill – Okay I am at a loss on this episode. It is not a favorite so I have only seen it a couple of times. (Anyone have any insight?)
Beuno Nacho – The one that everyone remembers. Ron has a natural genius for the restaurant business.
Number One – Skills? Not any in particular that I can think of.
Mind Games – He can flip Kim’s hair really well.
Attack of the Killer Bebes – This is the one that most everyone forgets, even the writers apparently. Ron demonstrates an ability to craft disguises and costumes that borders on scary wicked.
Royal Pain – Despite my disgust with his disloyalty to Kim, Ron apparently knows how to run a campaign fairly well.
Coach Possible – Ron demonstrates a high level of empathy for the kids.
Pain King vs Cleopatra – Again Ron demonstrates a high level of motivational ability. This time with Pain King and Steel Toe. He just seems to know exactly what to say at exactly the right time.
Monkey Fist Strikes – Not an exceptionally good episode for Ron. He shows that he knows some martial arts, but not an exceptional ability.
October 31st – Ron is if nothing else a meticulous planner and strategist when he wants to be. He catalogs their trick-or-treating schedule down to a level of detail that I find impressive.
All the News – I am not sure if he really demonstrates a high ability level at all in this episode. He did not appear to be very good at reporting.
Kimitation Nation – I can’t recall anything exceptional for this episode either.
The Twin Factor – The episode that in my opinion shows just how dang good Ron can be in martial arts. This is my main argument that a fight between Kim and Ron would be closer then would seem apparent from much of the rest of the show.
Animal Attraction – I can’t think of anything exceptional in this episode.
Monkey Ninjas in Space – Again Ron demonstrates an innate understanding of tactics in combat situations.
Ron the Man – Not much good in this episode.
Low Budget – Ron has a pretty decent concept of value shopping.
Naked Genius – Ron demonstrates an innate understanding of mechanical engineering and design. He single handedly builds a weapon system from spare parts.
Grudge Match – Not much here.
Two to Tutor – Another episode demonstrating that Ron is an exceptional cook.
The Ron Factor – Honestly not much in this episode. He does demonstrate a great deal of empathy at the end, but his lack of it in the beginning cancels that out.
Car Trouble – Didn’t like the direction that they took in this one. Why they felt it necessary to make Ron so bad at driving I do not understand. It did nothing for the story.
Rufus in Show – Not a lot from Ron here.
Adventures in Rufus-sitting – Not much Ron in this episode.
Job Unfair – Not a good episode for Ron’s skills. In fact, his incompetence was pretty much the running gag.
The Golden Years – Again Ron demonstrates a very good grasp of strategy and tactics.
Vir-Tu-Ron – Towards the end he again demonstrated a remarkable grasp of the combat situation and what needed to be done.
Fearless Ferret – When the need becomes high enough for Ron (IE Kim is in trouble) he demonstrates again a very resourceful grasp of the situation and the strategy that needs to be implemented to achieve victory.
Exchange – An episode that shows both how good and how bad he can be at physical combat.
Day of the Snowmen – Um… he can sled well?
Rufus vs Commodore Puddles – He appears to be pretty good with making movies and camera work.
A Sitch in Time – One thing that I find interesting in this episode is that it doesn’t appear that Ron is getting any help from Wade, yet he is still able to get halfway around the world several times. The boy is nothing if not determined and resourceful.
A Very Possible Christmas – Demonstrates high empathy again.
Queen Bebe – Not a good Ron’s skills episode.
Hidden Talent – I was rather impressed by Ron’s breadth of entertainment skills. This episode also pointed to his above average musical skills. I particular found the playing of the armpit rousing. ;D
Return to Wannaweep – Not a particularly good episode for Ron.
Go Team Go – Again, not much that I can recall.
The Full Monkey – Not exactly a skill, but dang if that boy isn’t loyal.
Blush – An episode that can have been so great, but the writers brought in super Wade. No I am not a bit bitter.
Partners – Ron demonstrates once again that when he needs to he has a very good grasp of tactics and strategy.
Oh Boyz – He is a bon digity dancer.
The Truth Hurts – Ron is not particularly skillful in this episode. Although, it does show that in general he is the much more honest of the two.
Sick Day – Ron once again demonstrates an above average ability to plan a strategic plan and execute it.
Mother’s Day – He is resourceful? He did get the garage clean.
Felix – Once again displays an incredible amount of empathy.
Ron Millionare – Another one of the not good episodes for Ron.
Triple S – Not recalling much here
Rewriting History – I can’t say much since almost the entire episode was a dream.
Steal Wheels – Unless you count video games not much display of skill here.
Emotion Sickness – How did he not make it on the track team in
Triple S? The boy can run. Plus, he is a superior dibs caller.
Bonding – Who else could do a mutant Weiner dog call? He also once again demonstrates a very good deal of planning, strategy, and motivation with the cookie sell.
Bad Boy – Ron once again demonstrates a genius level innate understanding of weapon systems, engineering, strategy, and tactics.
Showdown at the Crooked D – Not a good Ron’s skills episode.
Dimension Twist – Again, it is Ron that has an innate grasp of the tactics necessary to save the day.
Roachie – He is the roach whisperer.
Rappin Drakken – He is great at motivating Kim again. He also demonstrates an excellent ability to improvise in a musical fashion.
And the Molerat Will be CGI – Not a good Ron’s skills episode.
Gorilla Fist – Not a good Ron’s skills episode
Overdue – This, like
Blush, was an excellent opportunity to demonstrate Ron’s aptitude, but as with
Blush it was mostly wasted with the introduction of the super Wadebot. (Oh, how I hate that thing.)
Team Impossible – Not anything that I can recall, but I have only seen it once.
So the Drama – Great motivator. He also once again exhibits a really high master of driving a two wheel vehicle in combat conditions.
As I quickly perused my memory and typed these down it really hammers home what someone said a while back. Kim and Ron for the most part have switch the stereotypical skill set for their genders. Ron demonstrates an incredible aptitude for the skills often associated with females. He demonstrates incredible levels of empathy and motivation. He also excels in the skills that are often thought of as more feminine.
Another thing that struck me is that it is highly probable that Ron might just really be a genius. English speaking people very often confuse ignorance (the lack of knowledge) for stupidity (the lack of innate intelligence). Ron is pretty obviously ignorant of many things, but the incredible accomplishments that he can achieve despite this ignorance actually just shows that he is probably more intelligent then most. Now I am not talking about Wade level intelligence, but more realistic intelligence. The biggest thing holding Ron back is his lack of focus. I strongly believe that the show has demonstrated that when Ron truly focuses on something that he can do extremely well at it.
So in long, since this was rather long, I do not agree that Ron’s skill set is more limited then Kim’s. I just think that they compliment each other very well. Where Kim’s deficiencies tend to start Ron’s skills start to kick in. This is probably the reason that the make such an impossibly unstoppable team. (Tongue in cheek)
