Hey all,
Just a little plot bunny that popped into my head and refused to leave until I wrote it out. It's a Kim and Joss friendship fic. Enjoy.

Kim awoke, green eyes fluttering open to survey the room. A bright Montana moon was shining in through the window of the guestroom, bathing it and the figure standing before her in a soft bluish glow.
“Kim?” the figure called in a soft, almost pleading tone.
“Hmm…” she mumbled, raising herself onto her elbows and rubbing sleep from her eyes. Joss materialized in front of her, looking shook up and apprehensive.
“Sorry for wakin’ you up,” she said, “Can I talk to ya quick?” her voice was soft, almost plaintive, with a definite trace of fear, as though she had woken from a nightmare; this theory being confirmed when Joss continued.
“I had a nightmare…about the mission, with Drakken and the hats at the Crooked D.” she knelt down next to Kim, folding her hands on the bed and staring at them, as though she was praying, “I’ve been having it a lot.” She looked up at Kim, eyes wide, as though looking for reassurance.
Kim nodded, remembering the fight with Drakken and Shego months before, “Hey,” she replied, “It’s only natural. Everyone has nightmares now and then, especially after something like what happened.”
“Even you?” Joss asked.
“Even me. I have them all the time. What you’ve gotta realize is that they’re only thoughts, just pictures in your head. They can’t hurt you.” Kim replied, placing a hand on Joss’ shoulder, “They’ll go away.”
“How do you do it, Kim? All that you do?” Joss continued.
“I don’t know. I just do. I do what needs to be done with what I have.”
“I’m not like you. Out there…I was terrified. It took every ounce of will I had just to put one foot in front of the other and move foreword. I don’t know how or why I jumped on that horse. I didn’t plan or think about it. I just…did.”
“We’re all scared, all of us.” Kim replied, wrapping her arm around Joss’ shoulders, “There’d be something wrong with us if we weren’t scared. But you acknowledge your fear and use it, like you did, to spot openings and give you the jolt you need to move. You use it like a tool. Bravery isn’t the absence of fear, it’s not letting the fear control you.”
“You’re right…” Joss replied, trailing off.
Silence reigned for a few seconds before Joss broke it. “I love ya, Kim,” she said, in that same scared, plaintive tone, “You know that?”
“I know, Joss. You’re family. I love you too,” Kim replied, smiling.
“You’re still my hero, Kim. I never wanted ya to think I abandoned you. I just…added Ron. He was an inspiration for my life specifically…you know what I mean?” Joss asked, her blue eyes staring like searchlights through the darkness, seeking acknowledgement and reassurance from her cousin.
Kim motioned for Joss to sit on the bed, ‘I know, Joss,” she replied, once Joss had settled herself on the bed next to her, “I know. I never thought that. Ever.”
“Ron’s never recognized,” Kim continued, pulling Joss into a one-armed hug, “It’s good that he has someone other than me rooting for him.”
Silence reigned once again. Kim noticed that Joss looked worn out and tired, probably from the nightmares, she thought.
“You should get some sleep, Joss. You look exhausted,” Kim said finally.
“Okay…” she replied, but hesitated. She wouldn’t ask. She told herself. She had already been weak enough in front of her cousin. She wouldn’t ask.
Kim thought she sensed Joss’ internal struggle. She knew quite well what it was like dealing with bad dreams, especially on one’s own. Smiling knowingly, she continued, “You wanna stay here tonight, Joss?”
Joss nodded quickly, relief that could have melted the hardest of hearts spreading across her face. Kim lifted the covers and they both settled down, Kim keeping her arm around Joss’ shoulders while Joss settled down next to her, head nestled in the crook of her neck and her arm slung across Kim’s chest.
“Kim?” Joss asked, after they had finally gotten comfortable.
“Yeah?” Kim replied.
“I never meant to annoy you, when you were here,” Joss replied, holding onto Kim tighter for a moment, “I didn’t mean to be a pest. I’m sorry.”
“You didn’t annoy me, Joss,” Kim replied, hugging her back, “I overreacted. Let’s not dwell on that okay. It’s in the past and done with.”
“’kay,” Joss said, closing her eyes contentedly.
“Okay,” Kim replied.
“Friends?” Joss asked, looking up at Kim, eyes wide and round.
“Of course.” Kim replied, squeezing her shoulder, “Friends.”
“Get some sleep, okay. It’s late, well, early,” Kim continued, looking at the clock on the nightstand, which read ‘2.25’.
“Thanks Kim, for everything,” Joss said softly, drifting off.
“You’re welcome, Joss,” Kim replied, “I got your back.”
Joss smiled slightly, her breathing becoming soft and even. Kim glanced down at her, curled up safe and sound in her arms, breath ghosting lightly across her neck as she drifted off to sleep, “Sweet dreams, Joss,” Kim whispered.
Yawning slightly, Kim settled down, resting her head lightly against Joss’s, and closed her eyes.
Eventually, the pair’s breathing matched, and nightmares plagued neither Possible for the rest of the night.

So, what did you think? Not my best work but it don't think it turned out too bad.
Peace out and God bless.
