I'm not even sure what to say about that.

It's only happened twice that I can remember.
Raccoons and possums are NOT animals you want to see out and about in the daylight. That's practically a guarantee that they're rabid.

that is so stupid theres diffrent ways to control a animal srry but i love animals theres people killing people but all they get most of the time is jail You've never lived in a place that's near wild animals, have you? You have to be realistic. They're animals, not cute and cuddly moving stuffed animals. They get rabies. There is no cure for rabies. They would have had to kill the racoon anyway.

I worked at a camp one summer on the NC coast. It was on the site of an old Civil War Fort. The building I stayed in was built in 1910. This was in 1983. The building was not in the best of shape. I was taking a shower late one afternoon and heard a noise down at my feet. I looked down to see a racoon looking up at me. He had come out of a hole in the wall of the shower. I backed up and he walked right out of the shower where he shook off and continued on out of the building. What did I do? I just finished my shower and went about my business. That was really freaky.

I only saw one possum in my entire life. And my first reaction? Run and scream with my younger cousin following me into our house to where my aunt (and his mum) was. I recall that very vividly and can see my aunt with a big stomach (she was pregnant), so I can assume this was late '96 or early '97. You've only seen one possum? Lol. Here in WA, there are TONS of possums. But, really.. there's no need to be frightened unless you can see the symptoms of rabies. It's sad to see people say they're afraid of certain animals, and they think that they're nasty, dangerous animals..... when really the person is not educated well enough. :,C That's why i was really, really happy when I saw this new documentary by the "Sharkman". He goes and swims freely with Great White Sharks. And and.. he wanted to prove to people that there was a nicer, sweeter side to the animals, and... this one great white even allowed him to grab ahold of its fin and swim with it.. for about 75 feet Wow!!

I agree. I mean, they seem like good animals. I mean, that's why I respect the zoological types, especially the ones who love the unloveable animals. Such as Steve Irwin and others. And yet, Steven Spielberg made a movie about a Great White that seemed to be vicious killing machine.

*raises hand sheepishly* I'm terrified of sharks. I don't live on the coast, I've never seen one in real life, but I get the shivers just thinking about them. It's an illogical fear, but it's still a fear of mine.
We had a marmot living in our cabin at camp. His name was Cow.

I have watched plenty of things on sharks. It's not a matter of being uneducated. It's a phobia and I'm sorry. I have had nightmares about sharks and I shall probably have one tonight. I know so many positive things about it. I've studied them! I have classroom books on them! But they still freak me out! Please don't hate me for having an illogical fear!

I wouldnt worry too much! I have a fascination with Sharks. I love them but am scared at the same time. My arachnophobia is my weak point. I had to have tons of therapy to get over it as I used to stop breathing when I saw even a picture of a spider. I am better now ... still dont like them but no longer go blue and keel over at the sight of them.

I'm actually okay about sharks. I don't plan to go near one (I'd like to). As long as they don't attack me, I'm okay.
I'm not a big fan of insects. I remember watching this two hour special about bugs a few years ago. I was so creeped out that I was screaming and running out of the room.

I'm also afraid of spiders. Except for tarantulas. Tarantulas don't bother me in the least.

I'm not big on spiders either.
Snakes, I'm actually all right about. I've touched a few. My uncle's step-son owned one that my mother actually held (I wouldn't go near it).
As long as they pose no immediate threat over me, I'm okay with them. I wouldn't be happy about seeing them in the house or outside. I've seen rattlesnakes before. I just fear them because they bite.

If I had my druthers, I'd just love to have critters around. Even possums, who are so ugly they're cute, but the threat of rabies is too real to take a chance. I also once had to deal with a bat getting in my house, though I was able to pin it with a broom and hold it by its wings with a pair of tongs before setting it free. I just don't me, my wife, or my three cats endangered.
