Star Wars fans can be real snobs! I am not a snob! *sticks nose in air* He said CAN be a snob. HE'S a star wars fan, HK-47 is a fan, almost all the people on this board are fans, but SOME people on OTHER boards take it too seriously.

Well, every fandom can't be civilized all the time.
Heck, most Star Wars fans are really grown up, so no suprise there.
Really, just go tell 'em to shove a saber up something on their body and leave.
Or ask Tenkan to go and practice.

Gaming fans can act quite the douchebaggery themselves. On the main site i visit, i get hastled many a times for liking KP, but i ignore them (but i also know that i ve known these users for like 3 years or more) Theres plently of people there who agree with me saying why should i care what they think, regardless of their own opinions on the show. All you need to realize is that these are people on the internet. Make friends with those who are nice to you, and those who arent, just dont respond to what they say and dont take it seriously, because they dont know you and their opinion of you means jacksh*t. If anyone is seriously bored, read my posts in this thread to see how I've dealt with being bashed online, expecailly of late. PS, if your a gamer, consider signing up (its free). It's a great site. trade your games with other people. Saves a bunch of cash, and the community is really good overall (though there are a few immature people at times). PPS if you DO sign up, dont question/fight the fonzmingo or the NG:P tradegamesnow.com/f_me.cfm?thid=123740

There's nothing crazy about wearing costumes for sci-fi conventions. I've worn Star Trek alien costumes to Trek Conventions on several occasions, and I'm not crazy. Everyone I met there who was in costume was friendly and normal people. Some people I met at conventions had absolutely incredible costumes that took real artistic talent to make. Costume making can be a great form of art. As for Star Wars fans, the few I knew at school did actually seem snobbish, but only when the topic of sci-fi came up. They all seemed to think of themselves as superior to Trekkies. I'm not sure why. But I don't think ALL Star Wars fans could possibly be snobbish. I think we've just had bad experiences with a few of them. I agree. But, it can seem a little silly and overly fanatic-y. I mean, I would do it, if it was a specific thing, but I toe that line. Yeah, there's a crazy war between Star Wars and Trekkie types eh? Lets not bring that kind of biased perspective on cosplayers now shall we? A lot of the more brilliant and most helpful Star Wars fans I know dress up in costume. The 501st official fan club does it on a monthly basis for charity. And I'm sorry to hear that Darth. Not every Star Wars fan can be like that but some of the most extreme in the fandom are just darn elitist like that. It happens everywhere and not just SW. Probably even here in the KP fandom. And on the Star Wars official forum board? That should happen. I've been going there for years too. You should have reported them to a mod or write them an e-mail.

I avoid Star Wars forums. Mostly because I like Star Trek too and generally they give you the evil eye when you talk about it. So yeah, I guess some of them are snobs. But that's probably true of a lot of die hard fans. And then there are some that are really friendly and tolerable. Everyone is different.
But yeah, I would have reported them. That's not fair.

I mean I know of the feud between SW fans and trekkies but I thought that kind of thing died down. Its so idiotic. I guess going to Comic-Con yearly and seeing that trekkies and SW fans get along well put me a little bit at ease when it came down to that but I guess some things don't change that easily.

Heh, fandoms can get preety nucular about if their fandom is better then others.
Hey, people at school push it all the time. I just do my best to keep it civilized.
Though, you should go back there Darth and tell the mods, then go reply to them edit: (the flamers) /edit by saying 'Go stick your additude in the Death Star and let Skywalker blow it to hell' or just tell 'em to shove their attitude where we can't see it.

They didn't officially boot me, they jsut kept spamming the thread and jump to harsh conclusions about me...at the end it became an entire discussion about me in the 3rd person...like I wasn't even posting in the thread... That's why I felt there was no need for me to post there anymore and I left- not because I wanted to, but because they left me with no other choice. And that was 2 years ago, I just started this thread because I started a discussion elsewhere about this awesome new fanfilm, but the criticisms turned from the fanfilm to me...again. Thanks for the kind words guys, I wouldv never felt more at home on any other forum! And I'm sorry Star Trek fans face such difficulty with Star Wars fans, VeridianSin. I had a friend who's dad was a Star Trek fan, and another friend who was a Star Trek fan, and they were generally nice people!

Geez, some people...do They have any idea what kind of money conventions bring in? I'm sure RD will fill you in on this story... But we did have a small gathering where a few of us met up with Bob, Mark, Steve, Kurt Weldon, Charlotte, Tom Hart (I think he came).... It was really great. I'm not sure where the thread got off to though...
